Chapter 739: Chapter 739: Defeat

A furious hurricane instantly enveloped the Black Skull. The ship’s speed suddenly surged, sending it hurtling toward the Sea Rose.

"Black Skull, you seek death!!"

A cold glint flashed in Canales’s eyes as he raised his Magic Staff, preparing to cast a spell.

Just then, a cold glint flashed in the eyes of Mello, a Demon Master standing beside Canales. A dagger appeared in his hand, and he stabbed at Canales like a bolt of lightning.

The Magic Robe on Canales’s body flashed with light, and a Fifth-tier Magic, the Shield of the Blue Demon, immediately manifested.

This Fifth Rank Defense Magic, the Shield of the Blue Demon, possessed astonishing Defense Power. It was the strongest automatically triggered Defense Magic enchanted onto Canales’s Magic Robe. It could even block a single strike from Legendary Level Magic, but it could only be triggered once per day.

Mello’s dagger struck the Shield of the Blue Demon. An eerie, ghostly light flashed, and the Shield of the Blue Demon was pierced as easily as a sheet of paper. The strange dagger then stabbed viciously into Canales’s back.

A black miasma rapidly spread across Canales’s body as a terrifying poison corroded his flesh and soul.

"Mello, you damned traitor!!"

Canales’s expression changed drastically. His body swayed, and he collapsed limply to the ground.

"Mello, why did you betray us!!"

A look of shock and anger flashed in the eyes of the other Demon Master, Cassiano. With a wave of his Magic Staff, an incredibly sharp Ice Spear instantly materialized and shot toward Mello.

"I’ve been one of Lord Black Skull General’s subordinates from the very beginning! So, I haven’t betrayed you. I was never on your side to begin with!"

Mello’s gaze was icy. He tore a Magic Scroll, deploying an earthen-yellow Magic Barrier. A pair of Wind Wings sprouted from his back, and he rode the wind toward the Black Skull.

The incredibly sharp Ice Spear slammed into the earthen-yellow Defense Barrier, punching through it before shattering and dissipating.

"Retreat!!"

Canales roared, his face contorted in pain.

There were still several hundred Mages aboard the Sea Rose, but without the Great Mage Canales, they were no match for the Black Skull General and his subordinate Pirate Mages.

Mages were considered noble beings, and few would willingly sink so low as to become pirates. Yet, for various reasons, a number of them had done just that, becoming subordinates of the Four Great Pirate Kings and the Five Great Pirate Generals.

Cassiano chanted an incantation. A pair of Wind Wings appeared on his back, and he grabbed hold of Canales.

"Idiot! You fell for it! Poison Explosion!"

A savage glint appeared in the Black Skull General’s eyes. Chanting an incantation and holding his Magic Staff, he pointed at Canales.

A black Magic Array appeared on Canales’s abdomen, emanating a vile and eerie aura.

"No!!"

The moment the black Magic Array appeared, Canales’s expression changed drastically, and he let out a blood-curdling scream.

BANG!!

An ink-black arrow reeking of a foul stench shot out from Canales’s abdomen, flying straight for Cassiano.

A blue Magic Shield materialized in front of Cassiano.

The black arrow instantly struck the blue Magic Shield, emitting a sizzling sound. Amidst billowing smoke, it brutally pierced through the Magic Shield and plunged into Cassiano’s body.

"No!!"

Cassiano shrieked as the flesh was instantly stripped from his body, leaving behind a blood-soaked skeleton that writhed on the deck, screaming in agony.

"Damn it!! Attack! Attack!"

The captain of the Sea Rose quickly organized the crew, unleashing a barrage of spells directly at the Black Skull.

"A pack of fools who can’t grasp the situation!"

A look of contempt flashed in the Black Skull General’s eyes. He chanted an incantation and pointed his Magic Staff.

Mysterious Magic Curse Seals appeared all over the Black Skull. The surrounding seawater churned, forming an incredibly powerful Water Barrier.

The barrage of spells crashed against the Water Barrier, only to be blocked one after another.

The Black Skull General continued to chant his incantation.

A black Summoning Magic Array materialized.

A ten-meter-tall, giant black skeleton appeared. Dark Soul Flames flickered within its eye sockets, and it emanated a terrifying aura.

As soon as the giant black skeleton appeared, the Water Barrier surrounding the Black Skull dissipated.

A volley of Bone Spears, wreathed in dark flames, shot like lightning toward the Mages on the Sea Rose.

One after another, the Magic Shields of the Mages on the Sea Rose were pierced by the Bone Spears. Their bodies were engulfed in ghostly flames, and they screamed in agony.

The Mages on the Black Skull also began casting spells, launching a counter-attack against the Mages of the Sea Rose.

The giant black skeleton’s combat prowess was simply too ferocious, and it quickly crushed the resistance aboard the Sea Rose.

Mages from the Sea Rose cast spells one by one, attempting to flee the ship.

Bone Spears wreathed in dark flames shot down like meteors, striking the Mages and piercing them as they tried to flee.

Pirate ships closed in, hunting down any Mages who attempted to escape.

Waves of agonizing screams echoed across the sea.

Enna and her party turned deathly pale. Not a single one of them dared to make a move.

The Black Skull General was infamous for his cruelty. Anyone who dared to resist him would be brutally slaughtered. Those who surrendered might be sold into slavery, but at least they had a chance to live.

Before long, all resistance aboard the Sea Rose was utterly crushed.

The giant black skeleton, carrying the Black Skull General in its palm, leaped from the deck of the Black Skull and landed on the Sea Rose.

Pirate Mages also used their magic to board the Sea Rose, swinging over on ropes or flying through the air.

"I am the Black Skull General. From now on, all of you are my prisoners. Now, hand over your protective Magic Equipment and Magic Scrolls, one by one. Then, contact your families. I’m sure they will pay a... trivial ransom to ensure your safety!"

The Black Skull General’s gaze swept over the many nobles in the first-class cabins of the Sea Rose, and a chilling smile spread across his face.

Those who could afford passage on the Sea Rose were either rich or noble, and those in first class were almost all Magic Nobles or their descendants. Every last one of them was a fat sheep waiting to be fleeced.

If the Black Skull General could successfully extort a ransom from these fat sheep, the sum would be large enough to tempt even a Legendary Mage.
