Chapter 749: Chapter 749: Iloshek
THWIP! THWIP! THWIP!
Saiye Island was covered in vast, undeveloped primeval forests.
As soon as the pirates began their push onto Saiye Island, they were ambushed by the island’s natives from all corners of the forest. In an instant, over a hundred men fell, struck down by the natives’ deadly poison darts.
The Pirate Mages were forced to expend their precious Mana to cast the Detoxification spell.
Even so, twenty pirates still died a gruesome death.
The pirates’ morale plummeted. They excelled at naval combat, but land warfare was their weakness—and jungle warfare was certainly not their forte.
Will frowned as he surveyed the dense primeval forest surrounding them. "Master," he advised, "jungle warfare isn’t our strong suit. Perhaps we should retreat for now."
Sur and Aurora also looked toward Shu Feng, a hint of retreat in their eyes.
Saiye Island was home to millions of natives, and half of them were capable Warriors.
Within the primeval forest, the natives’ combat prowess was terrifying; they were like Assassins lurking in the shadows.
The forests were also riddled with countless man-made traps.
For this expedition, Shu Feng had mobilized six thousand elite Warriors from Blood Whale Island. For those six thousand men to conquer Saiye Island and its millions of natives was a monumental, if not impossible, task.
"Give the order. Have our men fall back five kilometers!"
At Shu Feng’s command, the pirates swiftly retreated five kilometers.
When the native Warriors emerged to give chase, they were met with the combined might of Will and the other Mages, who blasted them to pieces. After losing more than twenty of their own, the rest learned their lesson and held back.
’The primeval forest! It’s your advantage, but it’s also your greatest weakness!’
Shu Feng smirked coldly as he gazed at the boundless primeval forest. His body was instantly wreathed in the Flame Element as terrifying Flame Dragons shot forth one after another, flying directly toward the jungle.
Wherever the Flame Dragons passed, the primeval forest was instantly set ablaze. A terrifying inferno spread rapidly in all directions.
Countless native Warriors who had been hiding in the primeval forest swarmed out like ants on a hot pan, fleeing madly in every direction.
"Storm Technique!!"
Will and the other two Great Mages’ eyes lit up. They joined forces to cast their Magic, conjuring terrifying gales that swept through the primeval forest.
The wind fanned the flames, driving the terrifying inferno deeper into the heart of the forest.
"Damn it! Damn these invaders! I’ll kill you all! I will cut off your heads and dig out your hearts to eat with my wine!"
Hidden in the primeval forest, a burly man two meters tall let out a low growl like a wild beast. A necklace inlaid with five human skulls hung around his neck, and a savage light glinted in his eyes.
"High Priest, empower me with a Divine Art! I’m going to kill that damned invader!"
The burly man spoke, his eyes flashing with savagery, to an old man standing beside him. The elder wore a High Priest’s Robe, his face a web of wrinkles and his body so withered he resembled a walking corpse. Only his eyes shone with a brilliant Divine Light.
"Iloshek, I will bestow a Divine Art upon you! Kill them! I will use their flesh and innards as a sacrifice to our Lord!"
A savage glint flashed in the eyes of Adrias, the High Priest of the Bloodthirsty Octopus God. Chanting a mysterious and bizarre incantation, he raised his Bone Staff and pointed it at Iloshek.
At once, hundreds of native Warriors swung their blades, beheading five hundred slaves.
The blood of the five hundred slaves gushed forth and converged, forming a massive, crimson octopus shape.
The crimson octopus shape transformed into a thin, scarlet thread that etched a mysterious, blood-red Curse Seal onto Iloshek’s body. A bloodthirsty light immediately began to flicker in his eyes.
This was the Divine Art known as the Bloodthirst Enhancement Technique, bestowed upon High Priest Adrias by the Bloodthirsty Octopus God. This Divine Art could drastically enhance all the physical attributes of its recipient, but the price was a one-time sacrifice of no less than one hundred lives.
The more lives sacrificed, the more powerful the resulting Divine Art.
The enhancement from a five-hundred-person sacrifice was the most Iloshek could bear. Any more, and he would descend into a state of madness, unable to distinguish friend from foe, and turn to slaughtering his own people.
"Incredible! This feeling is incredible! No one can stand against me!"
With a bloodthirsty glint in his eyes, Iloshek let out a bizarre shriek and shot forward like a bolt of lightning, charging straight for Shu Feng.
’This aura... a Legendary Level Warrior?’
Shu Feng instantly sensed Iloshek’s aura and diverted a Flame Dragon to hurtle directly toward him.
In the Gulondo World, there were a few, very rare Legendary Warriors. But they were utterly defenseless against the strange and unpredictable Legendary Magic of a Legendary Mage.
There was no such thing as Profession balance in the Gulondo World. Mages were terrifying beings who reigned supreme over all other forms of Extraordinary Power. A Legendary Mage could effortlessly toy with and dominate a Legendary Warrior.
"Break!"
Iloshek felt the terror of the Flame Dragon, but a crazed look flashed in his crimson eyes as he brought his blade down in a wild slash.
A flash of blood-red light from his blade struck the Flame Dragon, cleaving it in two.
Normally, Iloshek would have been no match for the Flame Dragon. But under the enhancement of the Bloodthirst Enhancement Technique, he had broken past his original limits and grown much more powerful.
"Decent Power! But this is as far as you go. For a mere Legendary Warrior to accomplish this much, it’s already quite remarkable. Chaos Technique!"
With an indifferent gaze, Shu Feng pointed a finger at Iloshek.
A strange and unpredictable wave of energy enveloped Iloshek.
"Haha! Invaders, you must all die! All of you must die!"
Iloshek’s eyes turned crimson, swirling with chaos and madness. He immediately turned around and unleashed flashes of blood-red light from his blade, cutting down the surrounding native Warriors.
Splashes of blood flew in every direction as countless native Warriors and Priests were brutally cut down by Iloshek’s blade.
Normally, with his Legendary Level Power, even if Iloshek were hit by a Madness Skill, he would at most have felt a moment of dizziness before his powerful will resisted it. However, the Divine Art, the Bloodthirst Enhancement Technique, had not only enhanced his Power but also eroded his sanity. That was why he succumbed so easily, descending into madness and chaos.
This was the terror of a Legendary Mage. Possessing vast knowledge and mastery of countless spells, they could alter the state of the entire battlefield with a single, targeted spell.
