Chapter 494: 494 | Conquest Complete

I drove into her. She met me. The desk shrieked across the tile another few inches and papers scattered like startled birds and I gave up on being anything other than what she needed, which was hard and deep and relentless and entirely focused on the girl who’d said the word love twice and dared me to acknowledge it.

Her third orgasm built slow. I could feel it climbing through her, a pressure that started somewhere behind her navel and spread outward, and I timed my rhythm to ride it up rather than break it. My own release was close. The resonance between us, the Euphoric Feedback, the taste of her still on my tongue, six weeks of Aurora Fitzgerald deciding I mattered, all of it pulled at the base of my spine with a gravity I couldn’t fight much longer.

"Now," Aurora gasped. "Jace, now, I’m—"

I hit the spot inside her that made her vision white out. Sealed my mouth over her breast one last time and pulled hard. Activated Euphoric Feedback at ten.

Aurora came apart.

The sound she made didn’t belong in any classroom. It belonged in a cathedral or a war zone, the specific frequency of someone who had spent two years controlling everything finally letting go of all of it at once. Her whole body locked. Milk erupted from both breasts and soaked my chest and the desk and the papers beneath her. Her heels slammed into the small of my back and her nails carved fresh lines across my shoulders and she screamed my name with a devotion that had no performance left in it.

The peak dragged me over with her.

I buried myself deep and let go, and the release hit hard enough to gray out the edges of my vision, and I kept my eyes open through sheer stubbornness because Aurora had asked to watch my face and I wasn’t going to deny her that. Her green eyes were locked on mine when I finished. Something passed between us that had no words attached, or maybe just the one word she’d said twice, the word I still owed her off the clock.

The System notification bloomed gold in my peripheral vision.

Aurora felt it land. I watched it happen, the exact moment the Gold settled into her mana channels, her eyes going wide and her lips parting and her whole body arching one final time as the buff wove itself through her. She gasped like she’d surfaced from deep water.

"Oh." Her voice was wrecked. "Oh, that’s—Jace, that’s different from the beach. That’s so much—it’s in my hands. I can feel it in my hands. My range just—" She flexed her fingers against my chest. "I could shape all five senses right now. On multiple targets. Tomorrow those scouts are going to lose their entire minds."

"That’s the idea."

"I’m going to conquer that tryout so hard they’ll write policy about it." She was still shaking, still catching her breath, but the strategist was surfacing through the afterglow the way it always did with Aurora, the mind that never fully stopped running even mid-orgasm. "Vermillion Dawn is going to regret making me skip the hospital. I’ll walk in tomorrow and make their squad captain taste his own defeat."

"You’re terrifying."

"You built me a classroom because I told you a story about liquor laws in Texas." She pulled me down until my forehead rested against hers. "You’re worse."

We stayed like that. Both of us breathing hard, still connected, the fake classroom half-dark and dripping milk and covered in scattered papers and the fallen MR. MONROE nameplate. Somewhere down the hall Belle and Naomi and Addison were waiting, one of them probably filming this through a gap in the wall for research purposes, and I found I didn’t care.

Aurora traced the shell of my ear with one finger. "Three down," she murmured. "Addison’s next. She’s been threatening to manifest a scythe if you take too long."

"She’s always threatening to manifest a scythe."

"That’s true." A tired smile. "She really does like you, you know. Underneath the death metal and the eyeliner. She reads shojo manga and she has a stuffed bat named Vlad and she’d cut off her own arm before admitting any of it. I’ve known her two years and I’ve never seen her let anyone close enough to hurt her." Aurora’s eyes went soft in a way she’d normally hide. "And then she walked through a hospital lobby in a trench coat because I asked her to keep you alive. She didn’t even hesitate."

The graft pulsed in my chest, warm and satisfied, and I thought about Yumi in her Santa Barbara workshop explaining a crystal plate with seven rings, each one a different color, each one a bond that made the field around me stronger. Addison’s ring had been dark purple. Fresh. Still settling.

"I’ll take care of her," I said.

"I know." Aurora finally released me and let her legs fall open, and I eased out of her slow, watching her wince and then sigh as her oversensitized body registered the loss. "You take care of all of us. That’s the whole problem." She sat up on shaking arms and surveyed the destroyed classroom with the detached amusement of someone who’d orchestrated it. "God, the Sanctum’s a disaster. Belle’s going to have opinions about the milk on the blackboard."

"Belle has opinions about everything."

"That’s why we keep her." Aurora slid off the desk, tested her legs, and grabbed the edge when they didn’t fully cooperate. Her hair was a wreck and her shirt was ruined and my essence was working its way through her system, and she’d never looked more dangerous or more beautiful. She pointed at me with a finger that shook slightly. "The words. Off the clock. Don’t think I forgot."

"I said I’d pencil it in."

"You don’t own a—" She stopped. Laughed. Threw the red tie at my face. "Go deal with Addison."

I watched Aurora limp toward the classroom door in her ruined uniform, and felt the graft hum its satisfaction, three rings blazing steady in the back of my skull with a fourth waiting down the hall in whatever dungeon the Sanctum had built to Addison’s specifications.

Three down.

One goth reaper to go.
