Chapter 538: Chapter 537: Cannot Lose at the Starting Line

"Little Shi Tou, what gift would you like from your big brother?" Ling Fei broke into a light sweat, but after a moment of stunned silence, he asked with a smile.

He was rather curious to see what his new little brother truly wanted.

"That’s right, Little Shi Tou. What gift do you want from your Brother Ling Fei?" Hearing this, Old Shi Ren also asked, his face full of curiosity.

"Hee hee... Brother Ling Fei, can you give me another Spirit Pill to eat?" As all eyes fell on him, Little Shi Tou’s pudgy cheeks flushed red. He blinked his gemstone-like eyes, looked at Ling Fei, and spoke in a high, childish voice, his gaze filled with intense longing.

If you looked closely, you could see the little guy was on the verge of drooling.

’What a little glutton!’

"A Spirit Pill!" Hearing his request, everyone was stunned.

"Haha!" Laughter erupted. So, it turned out the little guy had his sights set on Ling Fei’s elixirs!

Ling Fei was completely stunned as well. And here he was, wondering what kind of gift the little guy would ask for!

’To think it would be elixirs!’

’It must be because taking that elixir was so refreshing for his Heart Spirit that he became fixated on it,’ everyone quickly deduced.

But the laughter made Little Shi Tou’s face turn red, and he lowered his head in embarrassment.

After all, he had just been insisting that he was a grown-up!

"Hey! My Divine Soul was trapped for so many years, so I feel like my wisdom isn’t quite there yet. Isn’t it normal to want an elixir to raise my Spiritual Wisdom a tiny bit?" Feeling embarrassed under everyone’s gaze, Little Shi Tou lifted his head, his gemstone-like eyes wide, and argued defensively.

"Raise your Spiritual Wisdom!" Hearing this, the Grand Elder rolled his eyes.

"With your level of intelligence, you still need to raise your Spiritual Wisdom?" The Second Elder shook his head. He had a feeling this Little Shi Tou’s overabundant Spiritual Wisdom was going to be a real headache for them.

"I do!" Little Shi Tou said with great seriousness. "I started many years later than everyone else, so I need to catch up now. I can’t lose at the starting line! Brother Ling Fei, besides these elixirs that raise Spiritual Wisdom, do you have any other kinds?" He peered at Ling Fei with his gemstone-like eyes.

’Lose at the starting line?’ The Grand Elder was speechless. ’With your kind of talent, you’re worried about the starting line? Your starting line is on a mountaintop!’

"This..." Ling Fei was at a loss for words.

’Is this new little brother of mine really just a kid whose Divine Soul just awakened and gained Spiritual Wisdom?’

But when he saw the clarity in Little Shi Tou’s eyes and the earnest expression on his face, Ling Fei couldn’t help but smile.

"Hehe, since my little brother Shi Tou wants them, of course your Brother Ling Fei has some." Ling Fei smiled. "Your Brother Ling Fei is an Alchemist, you know. I can refine all sorts of elixirs. Here, take this bottle for now." With that, Ling Fei flipped his palm, produced a bottle of Spirit Awakening Pills, and handed it to the little guy.

"Thank you, Brother Ling Fei!" With a flick of his little hand, Little Shi Tou took the elixir bottle. In a flash, he had already landed lightly on the ground.

The little guy then scurried to the side, opened the Jade Bottle, and poured out a Spirit Awakening Pill.

"Ah, that’s the smell!" As the elixir landed in his hand and its fragrance filled the air, Little Shi Tou nearly started drooling. His eyes darted around before he quickly swallowed the elixir.

Just look at him! He was exactly like a little kid sneaking into a corner to eat candy.

"Haha!" Seeing this, Old Shi Ren stroked his beard and laughed. His great-grandson was, after all, still a child.

This filled him with joy.

If Little Shi Tou had really been as solemn and mature as an adult, without any childish temperament, he would have felt that something was missing.

After all, even if the descendants of the Divine Race were born intelligent, they still retained a bit of a child’s disposition.

A child should have a child’s innocence. That is what makes for a complete life.

The Grand Elder and the others also felt an inexplicable sense of joy.

"Yum, delicious! This is the taste!" Little Shi Tou swallowed the Spirit Awakening Pill. The Pill Pattern entered his mind, cleansing his Divine Soul. The sensation was so overwhelming he couldn’t help but immerse himself in it. "It’s good, just not as good as the last one." Soon, with his eyes narrowed in bliss, he poured out another and ate it.

’I need to eat one more.’

’Mmm, just one more.’ In the span of a single breath, Little Shi Tou had already eaten four or five Spirit Awakening Pills.

Looking at the rapturous expression on his face, he was treating these Spirit Pills like candy!

"This... My little ancestor, those are Spirit Awakening Pills! They’re Divine Pills that can grant Spiritual Wisdom to unenlightened members of the Human Race and Demon Beasts!"

"Is it really okay for him to eat them like that?" The Stone Race Elders felt a pang of pain watching him. They felt Little Shi Tou was being outrageously wasteful.

Forget others, even they themselves would have loved to have just one of those Spirit Pills!

"Hehe, it’s no problem. They’re just elixirs. I can always refine more later." Ling Fei just smiled faintly at Little Shi Tou’s adorable antics.

To him, this was truly a trivial matter.

’Alchemists are truly magnanimous!’

’Only an Alchemist like Young Master Ling would have such boldness,’ the six Stone Race Elders sighed to themselves.

If it were up to them, they would have stored such elixirs away as priceless treasures, never to be given to anyone but the most heaven-defying of their descendants.

’Meeting Young Master Ling is truly a great stroke of fortune for our Stone Race!’ Old Shi Ren was filled with deep emotion.

For the Stone Race, Ling Fei represented a heaven-defying opportunity. They couldn’t imagine how many lifetimes of good deeds they must have cultivated to deserve such a blessing.

"Wow, so delicious! Brother Ling Fei, your Spirit Pills are so yummy!" In no time, Little Shi Tou had finished the entire bottle of Spirit Awakening Pills. The little guy looked at Ling Fei with a completely satisfied expression, calling him "Brother Ling Fei" with a sweetness that would make you think they were closer than blood brothers. The Stone Race elders, however, were mortified.

They felt a pang of guilt whenever they looked at Ling Fei.

They knew their Little Shi Tou was very likely going to latch onto this "Brother Ling Fei" for good.

"Ahem, Little Shi Tou, now that you’re awake, Great-Grandpa will take you outside for a look. You can pick out some weapons for yourself," Old Shi Ren said with a laugh, trying to change the subject.

He was genuinely afraid his great-grandson would continue to shake down his new big brother.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t know where to hide his old face from the embarrassment.

"Weapons?" Little Shi Tou blinked his long eyelashes. "Okay, okay!"

"Young Master Ling, please come with us as well," Old Shi Ren said with a smile.

"Alright!"

Ling Fei and Old Shi Ren then proceeded to the Stone Race’s weapon cavern.

The cavern housed a vast array of weapons—blades, spears, swords, and halberds—all of which were specially made for the Stone Race and bore unique Inscription Patterns.

"Little Shi Tou, what kind of weapon do you want?" one of the Elders asked with a smile.

Little Shi Tou browsed for a bit before finally choosing a pair of hammers that were bigger than he was.

They were Stone Hammers forged from Celestial Stone, possessing immense power. Each one weighed a staggering eighty-eight thousand pounds.

Even a Primordial Pill Realm Cultivator would struggle with such a weight.

Only those at the Profound Pill Realm, or perhaps even the Celestial Pill Realm, could lift them with ease.

But to wield them as weapons was another matter entirely.

One would need to be at the Nascent Soul Realm to even have a chance.

Yet Little Shi Tou swung them with ease.

Soon, Little Shi Tou had chosen his weapons.

The Stone Race invited Ling Fei to choose a weapon as well, but none were suitable for him.

In the end, the group departed.

"Young Master Ling, my clan has no way to repay your kindness. Since you are Little Shi Tou’s big brother, you shall henceforth be the Eldest Young Master of the Stone Race. All of our clan’s inherited Mystical Arts will be open for you to comprehend."

Old Shi Ren then announced to the entire clan that from this day forward, Ling Fei was their Eldest Young Master and was not to be slighted in any way.

"’Eldest Young Master of the Stone Race?’ Ling Fei was rather taken aback.

’Just like that, I’ve become the Eldest Young Master of an Ancient Divine Race?’

Upon hearing this news, however, Lian Shuang and Shangguan Wan’Er were overjoyed.

This meant that with the Stone Race’s protection in the Sealed Demon Land, they would be much safer.

Otherwise, if the Kunpeng Race truly attacked, they would be utterly powerless to fight back with their current strength.
