Chapter 782: Chapter 770: Attracting Romance (10)
Fiona Vance stopped dancing, her gaze fixed on Archie Lockwood. "Archie Summers, I don’t care what your feelings for Shannon are. I just hope you won’t hurt her. Leave her."
"Sorry, but I can’t promise you that." Archie Lockwood’s lips curved into a sneer as he released his hold on Fiona Vance’s waist.
With that, he turned and walked directly toward Shannon Vance and the others.
Fiona Vance watched Archie Lockwood’s departing figure, her face turning deathly pale. Her head felt groggy.
When Shannon Vance saw Archie Lockwood walking toward her, the angry expression on her face was quickly replaced by a smile. "Archie, what was that all about with my cousin?"
Archie Lockwood gave her a cold glance. "Didn’t you say you were taking me to meet your parents? Let’s go."
"Oh, right, right! I almost forgot what we were here for. Let’s go, my mom and dad are over there." The moment she heard Archie Lockwood was ready to meet her parents, Shannon Vance couldn’t think about anything else.
Shirley Lockwood looked at the beautiful woman standing in the hall not far away, her delicate eyebrows knitted together.
’Could that be my real mom?’
’In my memories, my real mom was just as beautiful, just as elegant...’
’Archie Summers?’
’When my mom and dad met, my dad really was called Archie Summers.’
Shannon Vance had led Archie Lockwood a short distance away when she noticed Shirley Lockwood wasn’t following. She turned back and saw Shirley still standing there in a daze. Shannon quickly trotted back, grabbed Shirley’s hand, and said,
"Rory, what are you looking at? Hurry up, I’ll take you to meet your grandpa and grandma."
"Oh..." Shirley Lockwood glanced with distaste at Shannon Vance’s hand gripping hers and responded faintly.
Shannon Vance led Shirley Lockwood and Archie Lockwood to a private room.
She smiled at the people sitting on the sofa and made the introductions. "Mom, Dad, this is the boyfriend I told you about, Archie Lockwood. And this is his daughter, Shirley Lockwood."
"So, Shannon, you really do have a boyfriend?" her aunt, Wendy Warren—Fiona’s mother—asked with a smile.
"Mhm, I do! I told you all a long time ago that I had a boyfriend."
Wendy Warren nodded in satisfaction. "He’s certainly impressive. Not at all inferior to Jue." ’Aside from the baggage of a daughter,’ she thought, ’he’s practically perfect.’
"Yes, very impressive." Shannon’s mother, Yvonne Tate, also nodded repeatedly, looking exceptionally pleased.
Shirley Lockwood pulled her hand away from Shannon Vance’s, took a step forward, and called out with a sweet smile, "Hello, Grandpa and Grandma! I’m Shirley Lockwood, but my nickname is Rory. You can just call me Rory from now on."
"Rory, is that right? You’re just so pretty. Hmm, you even look a bit like our Shannon." Charmed by the sweet-sounding "Grandma," Yvonne Tate pulled Rory closer to get a better look at her.
Hearing her mom’s comment, Shannon Vance quickly added with a laugh, "Isn’t it true? Even though Rory isn’t my biological daughter, we really do look like a mother and daughter. When we go out shopping together, everyone mistakes us for one."
"..." Listening to Shannon Vance’s words, a frown creased Archie Lockwood’s handsome brow.
’Look like mother and daughter? He couldn’t see the resemblance at all. If anything, Rory was the spitting image of Eleanor Bishop!’
The thought of Eleanor Bishop made Archie Lockwood’s chest tighten. ’I wonder how she’s doing tonight?’
’They’d argued today, so before he left, he hadn’t even bothered to give the staff any instructions. He’d just left her all alone in the living room...’
