Dominator Emperor
Chapter 532: Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng
As she looked closely at the Wooden Nest, Lan Yunzhu finally realized that the chaos on the Giant Peak was not born from the peak itself, but was generated by this huge nest.
“We’re finally inside.” Li Qiye fixed his gaze on the giant Wooden Nest hanging from the cliff of the Giant Peak and said slowly, “Let me be the one to unveil this mystery.”
Li Qiye took a deep breath and led Lan Yunzhu in their ascent of the Giant Peak. After a great deal of effort, they finally reached the top.
At this moment, Lan Yunzhu stood with Li Qiye on the edge of the Giant Peak’s cliff. They were completely enveloped by chaos. Looking out, the Wooden Nest hanging from the cliff was roiling with chaos, resembling a sea of clouds.
The Wooden Nest was massive. However, standing on the edge of the cliff and looking at it, one would feel that the nest was endless, as if it were a world unto itself, capable of holding infinite lands and rivers within.
The Wooden Nest was constructed from countless wooden branches. The branches were withered and black, yet extremely hard. As Lan Yunzhu examined the branches forming the nest, she felt as if she had seen this type of wood somewhere before. After a moment of thought, she realized she had.
Back on the Thousand Islands, the Wooden Ruler Li Qiye had taken out was made of this very same wood. And the Wooden Ruler Lan Yunzhu was thinking of was, of course, the Ghost Source Ancestor Key!
“Look, what’s that?” Lan Yunzhu finally managed to spot something through the sea of chaotic clouds. In the center of the Wooden Nest, down at its very base, was a Wooden Pavilion.
The chaos ebbed and flowed, and even with her Celestial Eye open, Lan Yunzhu couldn’t see the Wooden Pavilion clearly. She could only make out that it was very large and solemn. Through her Celestial Eye, she could faintly perceive something inside the pavilion.
The chaos flowed throughout the entire Wooden Nest, making it resemble an ocean of chaos. If the Wooden Nest was an ocean of chaos, then the bottom of the Central Wood Nest was the location of the Sea Eye, from which endless chaos gushed forth.
At this point, it was impossible to tell if the Chaos Qi was emerging from the bottom of the nest or from the Wooden Pavilion. However, it was certain that this place at the nest’s base was absolutely incredible and held a world-shaking secret.
“See that? The Phoenix you encountered is right there!” Li Qiye had been staring at the Wooden Nest the whole time. Just then, he pointed to a corner on the outermost edge of the nest.
Lan Yunzhu hurriedly looked over. In a corner on the nest’s outermost edge, a fist-sized Phoenix was currently perched. This Phoenix was wreathed in Five-Colored Divine Light, which formed its plumage. The Divine Light trailed behind it in long, flowing strands.
The Phoenix was perched there, preening the wooden branches that made up the Wooden Nest as if this were its personal roost.
“That’s it.” Lan Yunzhu was astonished to see the Phoenix there. She had encountered this great fortuitous opportunity but had missed it. She never imagined she would encounter it a second time.
Watching the Phoenix groom the branches of the Wooden Nest, Lan Yunzhu couldn’t help but ask, “Is this Wooden Nest the Phoenix’s home?”
“No, this isn’t its home. It’s just basking in reflected glory. It is precisely because it settled here that it could become so peerless.” Li Qiye looked at the Phoenix and said, “Moreover, it’s not a Phoenix.”
“Not a Phoenix?” Lan Yunzhu was startled. “Could it really be a fully formed Immortal Elixir?”
“No, it’s not an Immortal Elixir.” Li Qiye stared at the Phoenix, shaking his head gently. “It is a True Immortal Medicine, a genuine one. Even an Immortal Emperor might not be fated enough to see it. This is something even Immortal Emperors would covet!”
“What? A True Immortal Medicine!” Lan Yunzhu was shocked by his words. The name “True Immortal Medicine” was enough to stun anyone, even an existence on the level of a Medicine Emperor!
In the mortal realm, whether one was a Cultivator or a Pharmacist, the mere mention of an Immortal Elixir would make them salivate with endless yearning. In their eyes, Immortal Elixirs were unparalleled treasures. They were priceless artifacts that even Immortal Emperors required.
However, the “Immortal Elixirs” spoken of by the world’s Cultivators and Pharmacists were not truly immortal. Many of them referred to exceedingly rare Treasure Medicines or Medicine Kings over five million years old as “Immortal Elixirs.”
But truly knowledgeable Pharmacists knew very well that these were not Immortal Elixirs in the truest sense. Thus, powerful Pharmacists began to call the genuine article “True Immortal Medicine” to distinguish it from what the rest of the world called an Immortal Elixir.
‘Do True Immortal Medicines really exist in this world?’ Lan Yunzhu couldn’t help but feel a flicker of doubt. ‘Is this Phoenix before my eyes really a True Immortal Medicine?’
Although ancient sages and legendary Pharmacists believed True Immortal Medicines existed, it was feared that no one had ever actually seen one. For this reason, many highly accomplished Pharmacists of later generations didn’t believe they truly existed. In their view, a True Immortal Medicine was merely a fantasy, a figment of their ancestors’ imagination that didn’t actually exist in the world.
A True Immortal Medicine… If one truly existed, even an Immortal Emperor would covet it. After all, a True Immortal Medicine was practically a panacea, capable of extending the lifespan of even an existence as mighty as an Immortal Emperor!
Countless Spiritual Medicines in the world were ineffective for an Immortal Emperor. To extend their lifespan, an Immortal Emperor would likely need an Immortal Elixir. If a True Immortal Medicine truly existed, it would be the absolute Top Grade treasure for an Emperor’s longevity!
Li Qiye stared at the Phoenix before them and nodded. “They do. The one right in front of you is it. Its name is the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng! A True Immortal Medicine rarely seen throughout the ages!”
“Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng.” Lan Yunzhu looked at the Phoenix. No matter how she examined it, it didn’t look like a ginseng plant at all.
Li Qiye seemed to read her mind. He shook his head and said, “With your current Dao Practice, you are unable to perceive its true form. It will only reveal its true form if you can suppress it.”
Lan Yunzhu looked at the Phoenix and couldn’t help but ask, “Can I obtain this fortuitous opportunity? Can I catch it?” Her heart couldn’t help but pound with excitement.
This was hardly surprising. A True Immortal Medicine would make even an Immortal Emperor’s heart race, let alone Lan Yunzhu’s.
“You can’t,” Li Qiye said with a smile. “Unless you are the legendary True Destiny Emperor, it won’t go with you. If your methods are sufficiently Heaven-defying, you might be able to get one or two Ginseng Whiskers from it, but even that would be incredibly difficult.”
“I’ll try.” As a Heavenly Pride Girl, Lan Yunzhu naturally possessed a degree of pride. She took a deep breath, channeled her Blood Qi, and took a step towards the Wooden Nest.
BANG! The moment Lan Yunzhu stepped into the Wooden Nest, she was instantly thrown back. The chaos churned, protecting the nest with immense power.
“So powerful…” Lan Yunzhu was surprised, but she was a descendant of an Emperor Immortal Gate, after all. Her elegant eyes narrowed as she declared, “I refuse to believe I can’t get past!”
Just as Lan Yunzhu was about to take out her Heaven-defying Treasure, Li Qiye stopped her. Shaking his head gently, he said, “Don’t be reckless. This place isn’t as simple as you think.”
Li Qiye then looked at the phoenix-like Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng and called out loudly to it, “How about we make a deal?” However, the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng merely shot him a cold glance before looking away, continuing to groom the wooden branches with an air of extreme pride.
“What an arrogant little thing.” Seeing the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng’s behavior, Lan Yunzhu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The look it gave Li Qiye was exactly like that of a supreme existence gazing down upon a mere ant.
“Well, it is a True Immortal Medicine, so of course it’s powerful.” Li Qiye just smiled. “But it shouldn’t have provoked me.” With that, he summoned a treasure.
BOOM! The Four-Battle Copper Vehicle appeared before Li Qiye. He leaped onto it and said to Lan Yunzhu, “You stay here. I’m going to circle around the edge of the Wooden Nest. If it won’t agree to a trade, then I’ll just have to teach it a lesson so it understands who it’s dealing with.”
Hearing this, Lan Yunzhu couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng. It had just provoked the wrong person.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! At that moment, four Divine Beasts manifested around the Four-Battle Copper Vehicle. A True Dragon, a Divine Phoenix, a Qilin, and a White Tiger flanked Li Qiye. With a deafening roar, the Four-Battle Copper Vehicle powerfully pushed the chaos aside.
Li Qiye rode the Four-Battle Copper Vehicle along the edge of the Wooden Nest at an incredible speed. Soon, the vehicle arrived right where the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng was perched.
The Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng let out a long shriek that seemed to tear through the Nine Heavens. Thunder cracked with astonishing power, but Li Qiye, seated on his Four-Battle Copper Vehicle and flanked by four Divine Beasts, was completely unaffected.
Li Qiye stood on the Four-Battle Copper Vehicle, looked at the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng, and slowly said, “I’ll trade you one drop of Starry Universe Water for five of your whiskers—the Old Ginseng Whiskers from your main root!” As he spoke, he solemnly took out a drop of Star River Everything Water.
Li Qiye had very little Starry Universe Water left, so he cherished it deeply and wouldn’t use it unless absolutely necessary. However, trading one drop of Star River Everything Water for five Old Ginseng Whiskers from the Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng’s main root would be an incredible bargain.
The moment it saw Li Qiye’s drop of Star River Everything Water, the phoenix-like Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng’s eyes lit up. A moment later, a voice transmitted via Divine Sense rang out: “One bottle of Starry Universe Water for five old whiskers!”
Li Qiye shook his head. “You know that’s impossible. If I had a whole bottle of Starry Universe Water, I could trade it for an entire True Immortal Medicine! Our meeting is fate, a grand opportunity. One drop of Starry Universe Water is a fair price.”
However, the phoenix-like Five Immortal Phoenix Ginseng simply settled back down on its perch and refused to look at Li Qiye again. This was, in fact, to be expected. There was no way a single drop of Starry Universe Water could be traded for five of its Old Ginseng Whiskers.
In truth, trading even one Old Ginseng Whisker for a drop of Star River Everything Water would have been a huge loss for it. If Li Qiye had offered a drop for one of its more tender Ginseng Whiskers, it would have certainly agreed. But to trade for five Old Ginseng Whiskers from its main root? It would absolutely never agree. That deal was far too unprofitable.
