After a good while of getting used to it, Jiang Li finally accepted the name. Then, with a perfectly normal expression, he called out to her, "Cui Hua, when will you be done? I’m hungry."

Chu Liangyu’s mouth twitched. She hadn’t expected him to actually believe the name she’d randomly made up.

"Once one’s cultivation reaches a certain stage, they can begin Fasting. How could the Lord Demon King possibly get hungry?"

Chu Liangyu glanced at him from the side, then pretended not to have heard.

"What Cui Hua just said makes me a little sad. About that spring water..."

The moment she heard that, the once-unyielding Chu Liangyu’s expression changed instantly. Her tone took on an eager quality as she said, "It’ll be ready right away. Please wait a moment, Lord Demon King."

’She had no idea what this Jiang Li was thinking. He always seemed to enjoy seeing her angry but powerless to resist.’

Chu Liangyu only put up with his commands so patiently because he hadn’t asked her to do anything too outrageous.

Who would have thought that half a month would pass just like that, with Jiang Li still enthusiastically ordering Chu Liangyu around.

Whenever Chu Liangyu’s face darkened and she looked about to refuse, he would bring up the Polar Spring with a regretful expression.

Chu Liangyu gritted her teeth, wanting nothing more than to punch him in the face. But that was all it could be—a thought. She was just at the Little Golden Core stage; there was nothing she could do to him.

"My birthday is in a few days. Which of these robes do you think I should wear?"

Chu Liangyu stared speechlessly at his huge pile of red robes, unable to see any difference between them.

He, on the other hand, was examining them with great enthusiasm and had already been at it all morning.

"I heard that. You were just badmouthing me in your head again."

Chu Liangyu’s heart skipped a beat, startled by his words.

"Can you really hear what I’m thinking, Lord Demon King?"

Jiang Li picked up a red robe and walked toward her. He didn’t answer immediately, but instead began to dress her in it.

When he was finished, a look of amazement flashed in his eyes. He smiled and praised her, "This robe suits you perfectly."

By now, Chu Liangyu had figured out his pattern. She knew that if she resisted, the man would just bring up the spring water again. So, she simply stood there obediently, like a mannequin.

It was only after Jiang Li spoke that she realized he hadn’t just been fiddling around—he had actually put the red robe on her.

Her already fair skin looked even more translucent against the red fabric. From a distance, her exposed skin seemed to be glowing.

A red sash threaded with gold cinched her waist, lending her slender figure a unique charm.

Jiang Li gazed at her with admiration for a long while before finally remembering to answer her question. "Of course I can’t hear what you’re thinking. I can just guess the gist of it from your expression."

Most of the time, even when her emotions were stirred, Chu Liangyu would subconsciously restrain herself and conceal her expressions.

So, it wasn’t that her expression never changed, but any shifts were certainly very subtle.

Normally, only someone extremely patient and who understood her well could read her thoughts.

Half a month was a short time, and they could hardly say they knew each other well. To be able to guess Chu Liangyu’s thoughts so easily could only mean that this Jiang Li was exceptionally good at reading people.

Before Chu Liangyu could think any further, he stepped out of the room. "Come on, I’ll take you to get the Polar Spring."

Chu Liangyu was stunned for a moment. She hadn’t expected him to agree to give her the Polar Spring just like that. A smile involuntarily touched her lips.

"You seem to care a great deal about this Polar Spring. Are you getting it for someone?"

Jiang Li, walking ahead, didn’t turn around, but it was as if he had seen the smile on Chu Liangyu’s lips anyway.

Chu Liangyu was in a good mood, so her reply was more sincere than usual. "Yes, I’m giving it to someone. Someone I care about deeply."

After Chu Liangyu finished speaking, she could clearly feel him fall silent. His mood no longer seemed as bright as it was just a moment before.

Looking at his back, Chu Liangyu didn’t dare say another word, afraid he might go back on his promise. It would be a disaster if she didn’t get the Polar Spring.

As they walked on without speaking, the surroundings grew quiet. Aside from the chirping of insects and birds, all Chu Liangyu could hear was the sound of their footsteps.

It was then that Chu Liangyu realized she and Jiang Li were both wearing red robes of a similar style. At a glance, it looked like they were wearing a matching set.

She had gotten so used to seeing Jiang Li in red these past few days that she had started to automatically overlook it.

Now that it occurred to her, Chu Liangyu grew suspicious. ’Did Jiang Li do this on purpose?’

Frowning, Chu Liangyu subconsciously moved to take off the robe.

"Little Crow, you can have the spring water. But my last condition is that you must keep wearing this robe I gave you."

As he spoke, Jiang Li stopped walking. He turned to face her, his face still holding a brilliant smile, but his tone lacked its usual playful edge. Instead, it was tinged with seriousness.

Chu Liangyu’s hand on the robe faltered, and then she silently lowered it.

"As the Lord Demon King commands."

However, what Chu Liangyu was actually thinking was, ’It’s just a robe. I can take it off whenever I don’t feel like wearing it. For now, the most important thing is getting the Polar Spring.’

"After you get the spring water, how about you stay for my birthday celebration?"

With a forced smile, Chu Liangyu nodded. "Of course. It would be my honor."

The two continued toward the Polar Spring, exchanging a few more listless words before they arrived.

The Polar Spring was just as Chu Liangyu remembered it: small, no bigger than a fist, yet water bubbled from it endlessly, emanating a potent life force.

The only difference was that last time, Chu Liangyu hadn’t noticed the Barrier over it. Now that she was closer, she could see it was protected by one.

A porcelain vial appeared in Jiang Li’s hand. With a wave of his sleeve toward the spring, the Barrier vanished with ease.

He bent down, carefully filled the vial, then stood up and handed it to Chu Liangyu.

Then he asked, "Should I get you a few more?"

Chu Liangyu glanced at the vial, hesitated, then said, "Just one more should be enough."

Just in case, Chu Liangyu figured she might need to come back for more later, so she brazenly asked for an extra vial.

"This should be enough, right?"

But unexpectedly, in the blink of an eye, Jiang Li produced four or five more vials and shoved them all into Chu Liangyu’s arms.

"This is more than enough. Thank you, Lord Demon King."

Hearing this, Jiang Li restored the Barrier.

He nodded, not even glancing at Chu Liangyu’s expression, and said, "Come on. Let’s go check on the food for the birthday banquet."
