Chapter 258: Chapter 257: Your Method of Stopping People Is a Bit Special

“Jiang Li, since you already have your suspicions, you shouldn’t keep pursuing me. We’re not from the same world anymore.”

Chu Liangyu sighed, feeling a profound sense of helplessness. Still, she continued to reason with him. “Besides, we were only together for less than a month. It’s not like we developed any deep feelings for each other. Why be so stubborn about this?”

“Little Crow, you’re not me. How could you possibly know how I feel?”

Jiang Li was unfazed by her words, continuing on his way without slowing down. “So what if we’re not from the same world? I’ll find you again.”

‘Compared to the Wen Yan of this world, this Jiang Li seems a little too obsessed with me.’

‘The only thing that helped Chu Liangyu rationalize this was that they had spent more time together than she had with Wen Yan. Plus, Jiang Li’s cultivation was nearing Ascension; perhaps he knew something she didn’t.’

By now, they were not far from the entrance to the Beast World, and the cubs ahead were about to emerge.

With Chu Liangyu’s help, the Barrier was more than halfway repaired, leaving only an opening large enough for one person to pass through.

“Lou Sang, can you handle patching the rest of this on your own? I’m going to get the cubs.”

Lou Sang frowned at her. “They’re about to come out. Why do you need to go in?”

“Someone is chasing them. If they get caught, he’ll use them as leverage to make me let him in.”

Lou Sang stepped directly in front of her, his serious expression turning grave. “I remember you said you sent your double in. Use her. You have to remember, you’re the Beast God now. The entire Beast World is counting on you.”

“So, you can’t act so impulsively and take a risk for a few cubs.”

Chu Liangyu unconsciously clenched her fists. She understood his point. With a sigh, she suppressed the urge to go herself.

“I understand.”

“How about this: if you’re really that worried, I’ll go rescue them, and you can stay here and repair the Barrier.”

Chu Liangyu grunted in agreement and took over the task of repairing the Barrier. “I’ll leave it to you, then.”

After Lou Sang entered the ravine, Chu Liangyu shifted her focus back to her double.

Jiang Li was still holding her arm. For him, catching up to a few cubs was as easy as breathing.

The only reason he hadn’t caught them yet was that he was letting them lead the way to her world.

Just then, Lou Sang suddenly appeared in front of the cubs.

Countless chains formed from energy shot out from his body, swiftly latching onto each cub’s waist. Without a backward glance, he sprinted toward the exit.

Jiang Li hadn’t expected someone else to show up. He froze for a second, but then recovered and chased after them without hesitation.

But Chu Liangyu, controlling her double, called out to him softly, “Jiang Li.”

Even though he was in a hurry, he faltered at the sound of her voice and instinctively looked down at her.

Before he could speak, he felt a soft warmth on his lips. It wasn’t a light, fleeting kiss, but one full of aggression.

Never having been forcefully kissed before, Jiang Li was completely unable to withstand her assault. His mind went blank, and he instantly forgot his objective.

By this point, Lou Sang had brought the cubs to the exit and was just one step away from returning to the Beast World.

Sensing his pursuer was no longer behind him, he grew curious and instinctively glanced back.

“Holy shit!”

Lou Sang had never in his life imagined someone would use this kind of method to stop a person, but it looked like it was pretty damn effective.

It was just… not very friendly to his eyes. If he’d known, he never would have looked back.

Seeing Lou Sang emerge with the cubs, Chu Liangyu delayed no longer and poured more of her energy into the work.

Soon, she had completely sealed the hole in the Barrier.

At that moment, however, Jiang Li snapped out of it. He was incredibly fast, on a completely different level than before, but even so, he couldn’t get through the Barrier.

In the final second before the Barrier fully formed, they saw each other through its transparent surface.

Jiang Li’s expression was exceptionally complex. Chu Liangyu couldn’t read it, but she could faintly sense his sorrow and resentment.

And that was the last time they would ever see each other. The Barrier was complete, the spaces no longer overlapped, and everything returned to normal.

“That’s a… unique way to stop someone. I’ve been a World Spirit for a long time, and that’s a first for me.”

Lou Sang released the chains binding the cubs and flew to Chu Liangyu’s side. He clapped her on the shoulder as he marveled at what he’d seen.

“That guy looked a little familiar. He kind of looked like… Jiang Li.”

Lou Sang was muttering to himself when he suddenly realized something and exclaimed, “Don’t tell me he’s not dead!”

With the matter at hand resolved, Lou Sang reverted to his usual lively self.

Chu Liangyu rubbed her ears, exhausted by his theatrics.

“This Jiang Li isn’t that Jiang Li.”

Lou Sang calmed down, but he was still confused. “If he’s not the Jiang Li from the Beast World, then which world is he from?”

“The Cultivation World.”

“Ooooh… so that’s how it is.”

Lou Sang drew out the “Ooooh” for a long time, and anyone could hear the teasing tone in his voice.

“Looks like you had quite the romantic adventure on your trip to the Cultivation World.”

Chu Liangyu rolled her eyes at him, not wanting to waste any more energy on the subject.

“Stop spouting nonsense. I have a question for you. As the World Spirit, how could you have failed to notice such a massive hole here?”

“If they hadn’t wandered in by mistake, the consequences would have been unthinkable.”

Lou Sang’s gaze flickered. Knowing he was in the wrong, he didn’t argue or make excuses.

Her words made him shrink back like a frightened turtle pulling its head into its shell, not daring to stick it out.

“From now on, you are to personally inspect the Beast World’s Barrier. No slacking off!”

“And I’ll be checking it again myself. If I find another hole this big, Little Sangsang… I’m sure you know what the consequences will be.”

Chu Liangyu knew Lou Sang was indulgent, but she never thought he was this irresponsible.

The hole may have been somewhat hidden, but even her double had sensed something was off. If Lou Sang had inspected things properly, he wouldn’t have let it sit there for who knows how long.

Luckily, no one from the Demon Realm had come through, otherwise…

‘Wait. They didn’t know when the hole had appeared. Who could guarantee that no one from the Demon Realm had slipped in during that time?’

‘Demon Cultivators can take on other forms. If they infiltrated this place and disguised themselves, no one would be able to tell.’

“Why did you stop talking?”

Lou Sang found it strange that she had stopped scolding him halfway through.

“Lou Sang, I suspect that while the hole was open, Demon Cultivators from the other world might have slipped through.”

“Demon Cultivators from the Cultivation World are different from our Beastmen. They have hundreds or even thousands of years of cultivation. The average Beastman in the Beast World is no match for them.”

“In a real fight, a Beastman wouldn’t even last a few blows.”

“Th-that… don’t you think you’re overthinking it? What if the hole only appeared in the last few days?”

Lou Sang’s heart skipped a beat when he heard her words, but he didn’t want to think about things pessimistically.
