Chapter 283: Extra: Chi Yizhong Becomes an Instant Dad

A big question filled Chu Li’s little head. “Why?”

“If that statue is fake, I can still use the real one to threaten him and rescue you at the same time. But if we both get caught, the statue will just end up back in his hands.”

“So what? We’ll just hide the statue. If we really get caught, it’s not like he can do anything to us.”

Chu Li’s confidence was probably because he knew they were Chu Liangyu’s cubs. He also knew Chi Yizhong cared deeply for Chu Liangyu, and that Chi Yizhong was a double of their Beast Father. All this made him feel untouchable.

Looking at her brother’s naive expression, Chu Yue felt a bit helpless but didn’t bother explaining further. “So, are you going or not?”

“Going! Of course I’m going!”

And just like that, Chu Li volunteered to be the scout.

Soon, dusk fell. As the sky darkened, the Guard Team’s patrols outside the Beast God Temple grew even stricter.

This change only made Chu Li more certain that the statue inside the Beast God Temple was the real one.

Jiang Li’s training had been strict, so sneaking past a guard detail of this level without a sound was no problem at all.

The light inside the Beast God Temple was dim. A colossal statue stood in the center of the main hall. Even though it was covered by a large cloth, just standing beneath it and looking up inspired an unexplainable sense of pressure.

‘This one is much bigger than the statue I stole. I wonder what the carving looks like.’

With this thought, Chu Li reached out, grabbed a corner of the cloth, and yanked down hard. The huge covering fell away.

Chu Li held his breath, his eyes fixed on the slowly revealed statue. But before he could get a clear look, the clamor of approaching footsteps reached his ears, growing closer and closer to his position.

Chu Li’s heart leaped. He was suddenly filled with a terrible premonition, and his first instinct was to flee.

But it was too late. No matter which direction he tried, someone was there to block his path. Escape was now an impossible luxury.

The panicked look on his face didn’t last long; he quickly composed himself.

“So, it was you.”

Chi Yizhong had met the two cubs a few times before. Seeing him again, there was no way he wouldn’t recognize this cub’s identity.

‘There should be two of them,’ he thought. ‘The other one must be his sister.’

“Speak. Why did you steal my statue?”

Since he had come to check things out alone, it meant the statue wasn’t on him. Chi Yizhong didn’t bother asking about it.

“None of your business. I stole it because I felt like it. If you want the statue back, I suggest you let me go right now.”

“Otherwise, if anything happens to me, you can forget about ever getting that statue back.”

Chi Yizhong was not threatened by his words. Instead, he glanced over at Hua Yao and said coolly, “Take a good look at him. Change into his form and lure the other cub out.”

Chu Li’s nonchalant expression froze, his eyes wide with disbelief. “You… How could you be so shameless!”

Chi Yizhong suddenly found it somewhat amusing. But considering he was just a cub, his reaction was somewhat understandable.

Understandable or not, Chi Yizhong wasn’t about to abandon his plan over a few words from a child.

“Well? Think you can fool the other cub for a little while?”

In the time it took to speak, Hua Yao had already transformed into Chu Li’s likeness. “I can, but this bracelet on his wrist is too conspicuous. I’ll need you to take it off him and give it to me for a moment.”

The Heart Connecting Jade Bracelet. It was a gift Chu Liangyu had given the two cubs. It wasn’t just a decoration; it could also sense the other’s location.

Few people knew about this. It was a good thing Hua Yao was so observant; otherwise, a mere physical transformation might not have been enough to fool Chu Yue.

As if his last trump card had been exposed, the expression on Chu Li’s face descended into complete panic. He struggled, resisting the person who came forward to take his bracelet.

“Who do you think you are?! This is my bracelet! Why should I give it to you?!”

His unusually strong reaction made Chi Yizhong suspicious, but he didn’t order them to stop.

Soon, the bracelet was removed from his wrist. Without a second thought, Hua Yao slipped the Jade Bracelet onto the same wrist as Chu Li wore it.

Watching Hua Yao’s departing figure, Chu Li felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. He stopped struggling and sank to the floor, his face a mask of dejection.

Until their target was caught, the captors had to retreat back into the shadows, and that, of course, included Chu Li.

One had to admit, the Alien Flower Clan’s shapeshifting ability was incredibly useful. It was unclear what Hua Yao had said, but a short while later, those hiding in the shadows saw two figures appear in the main hall.

“So it really is here. But it’s so big. How are the two of us supposed to steal it without anyone knowing?”

Chu Yue didn’t notice anything unusual about the person beside her. She looked at the statue before her, thought for a moment, and said, “It’s impossible to sneak it out without making a sound. However, we can make it so others can’t see it.”

Hua Yao was somewhat surprised by her cleverness, but now that he had lured her to the right place, he had no intention of continuing the act.

“That’s a good plan, but it seems it’s no longer necessary.”

The voice of the person beside her suddenly sounded unfamiliar. Chu Yue’s expression instantly turned cold. In the next moment, the longsword in her hand was already drawn, its tip aimed directly between Hua Yao’s eyebrows.

“Who are you? How dare you trick me!”

“Where is Chu Li? Hand him over. Otherwise… I’ll make sure you die a miserable death.”

Her face bore a strong resemblance to Chu Liangyu, but her words were laced with pure killing intent. Despite her young age, she was not someone to be underestimated.

“The statue for the boy.”

Chi Yizhong emerged from the shadows, followed by a group from the Guard Team.

“You can have the statue, but you have to agree to one condition.”

Chi Yizhong’s expression was impassive; he didn’t take her words to heart. “In this situation, do you really think you’re in any position to bargain?”

Chu Yue’s grip on the statue tightened. “I knew you’d say that. But the statue isn’t on me. If you don’t want to lose face when the time for our bet is up, you have no choice but to agree to my condition.”

“Otherwise, I’ve got all the time in the world to drag this out with you.”

Her and her brother’s original intention was for him to become their Beast Father, not their enemy, so she didn’t want to make the atmosphere between them too hostile.

“Let’s hear it. What’s the condition?”

Feng Qiwu had just taken a beating at his hands. Remembering that, Chi Yizhong braced himself, fully expecting her to propose some equally outrageous condition.

That was why he decided to hear her condition first before making his move.

“I want you to be my brother’s and my Beast Father.”

Chi Yizhong had considered countless possibilities, but he had never expected her to propose a condition like this.

So, for a moment, even he was a bit dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say.

“You went through all this trouble… just for this?”

Chu Yue didn’t speak, simply staring at him.

Her reaction was the most direct answer he could ask for.
