The silence lasted only three seconds before the earth violently tore open. A tremendous crack ripped across the northern ridge, shattering the frozen stone as a storm of rock, snow, and black matter erupted toward the sky.

Every soldier along the perimeter froze, their blood running cold at the sight.

"What the hell is that?" someone whispered from the barricades, his hands shaking on his weapon.

The terrifying answer emerged from the depths of the fractured mountain. Something of unimaginable scale began to climb through the ruined landscape, casting a massive shadow over the burning valley.

First came a colossal armored limb, crushing entire trees under its weight. Then came a second limb, followed by a head crowned with jagged black crystalline structures that absorbed the dim light.

The creature continued to rise higher and higher above the ridge. Its mountain-sized body completely towered over the surrounding forest, making the heavy defensive walls look like fragile toys.

It was undeniably a Zerg, yet entirely different from any creature they had faced before. Thick, overlapping plates of dark crystalline armor covered its chest and limbs, forming natural fortress walls across its frame.

Unlike ordinary beasts, this entity possessed multiple visible crystalline structures beneath its thick outer shell. Raviah stared at the chest cavity, counting the glowing formations as they shifted beneath the dense carapace.

One, two, three, and then even more revealed themselves beneath the dark armor. Multiple cores pulsed in harmony, each radiating a distinct, overwhelming energy frequency.

Crimson, purple, dark blue, and an almost colorless light beat in unison like a subterranean heart. The violent rhythm rippled across the valley, forcing the entire battlefield into absolute obedience.

Every ordinary Zerg instantly pressed its body against the frozen dirt. The mutated beasts stopped their relentless assault, while the crystalline zombies turned silently toward the peak.

Millions of hostile creatures fell completely motionless, yielding to the dominant presence. Raviah felt her diagnostic perception trigger automatically, her internal sensors attempting to map the massive entity.

[BIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS INITIATED]

[SPECIES: ZERG]

[EVOLUTIONARY CLASSIFICATION: UNKNOWN][CORE STRUCTURES: MULTIPLE]

[ENERGY OUTPUT: ERROR]

The final reading vanished in a flash of static, leaving her diagnostic screen blank. Her eyes widened as she forced her system to rerun the diagnostic protocol.

[SCANNING...]

Nothing returned, the advanced tracking scanner failing to process the vast biological data. She immediately switched to manual Root perception, seeking to read its elemental output directly.

The reality was far worse than the system failure. The creature’s energy signature was so unfathomably vast that her perception could not establish its outer boundaries.

It felt like trying to measure a boundless ocean with a single drop of water. The sheer weight of the aura pressed down on her senses, making her knees buckle.

Raviah staggered backward onto the uneven concrete. Rhyder immediately caught her arm, his firm grip preventing her from collapsing onto the cracked ground.

"Raviah?" Rhyder asked, his dark eyes shifting between her pale face and the creature.

She stared up at the towering silhouette in mounting horror. "I can’t read it."

Rhyder’s brow furrowed as he braced his body beside hers. "Your scanner?"

"Everything," she breathed, her voice barely audible against the howling wind. "It broke everything."

Another pulse radiated from the creature’s chest, sending a visible shockwave across the snow-covered valley. Every Zerg bowed even lower, pressing their heads into the freezing mud.

Rhyder tightened his grip on his combat weapon, his knuckles turning white under his gloves. "That isn’t an ordinary Zerg."

Raviah shook her head slowly, her breath fogging in the frigid air. "No, it’s not."

Her mind raced through every detail she had uncovered since the apocalypse began. She recalled the Zerg commanders, the complex hive networks, the underground nests, and the evolutionary chambers hidden in the earth.

She remembered the colossal energy signatures shifting deep beneath the mountains and the millions of creatures gathering in secret. The scattered pieces of data finally locked together in her mind.

She recalled vague references buried deep within her past life’s memories. It wasn’t a specific creature documented by the old government but a theoretical evolutionary endpoint.

A supreme Zerg capable of accumulating multiple cores within a single body. An apex entity capable of commanding entire planetary colonies through biological and elemental networks.

It was a creature that stood at the absolute peak of the Zerg evolutionary hierarchy. Raviah’s lips parted as she whispered the terrifying title aloud.

"Zerg King."

Rhyder glanced down at her, his jaw clenching. "What?"

"Their evolutionary structure isn’t random," she explained, her voice trembling as she stared at the glowing Cores. "The ordinary Zerg are just nodes, while the commanders coordinate local squads."

Her hands shook as she gestured toward the peak. "This one... this is the apex."

The Zerg King raised its massive head toward the blood-red sky. Four crimson eyes opened across its face, followed by six more unfolding beneath the crystalline armor.

Every single eye focused directly on the fortress of Sol Haven. More specifically, every gaze locked onto Raviah’s position.

Her blood ran ice-cold under that collective glare. "It sees me."

Rhyder immediately stepped in front of her, shielding her with his body as he raised his voice. "Everyone, weapons ready!"

Across the fortress, thousands of terrified soldiers snapped back to reality and raised their rifles. Elementals gathered their respective powers, while heavy artillery cannons rotated toward the northern peak.

Yet the Zerg King did not launch an attack or issue a command to the swarm. It simply stared down at the human fortress, its multi-faceted eyes reflecting the flickering fires below.

Then, one of the crimson Cores inside its chest pulsed with intense light. Raviah’s Root reacted violently to the frequency, sending agony shooting through her chest.

She gasped loudly, grabbing her sternum as her vision flickered with red light.

"Raviah!" Rhyder caught her under her arms before her knees hit the ground.

An overwhelming power had breached her defenses, entering her mind not physically, but through pure raw energy. An immense and terrifyingly intelligent presence flooded her consciousness.

Vivid images suddenly flashed before her eyes in rapid succession. She saw a primordial world existing long before humanity, shrouded in endless subterranean darkness.

Vast streams of pure elemental energy flowed beneath the Earth’s mantle like liquid light. She watched as primitive Zerg colonies clustered around those energy currents, drinking from the planet’s core.

And far beneath the surface, something massive watched from the very center of the earth. The overwhelming vision snapped shut as quickly as it had begun, leaving her gasping for air.

Raviah blinked away the darkness, her chest heaving as she leaned heavily against Rhyder. The Zerg King remained stationary atop the mountain ridge, its giant form unmoving.

Yet a deep, reverberating voice suddenly echoed directly inside her consciousness. It bypassed the communications network and her physical hearing, resounding through her thoughts with crushing weight.

"You carry the world’s origin inside you."

Raviah’s eyes widened in sheer shock as the psychic echoes faded. She reached into her spatial dimension instinctively, feeling the strange crystalline structure resting within her storage space pulse in direct response to the creature’s words.

Rhyder stared at her pale face, noticing her sudden rigidity. "What did it say?"

She couldn’t bring herself to answer, her throat completely dry.

The Zerg King continued to watch her from the mountain peak, its multi-colored cores glowing softly in the dark. For the first time since returning to the past, a terrifying truth became crystal clear to her.

The Zerg had not invaded this world merely to destroy humanity. They had come across the stars specifically for her.
