Raviah remained completely still inside the subterranean laboratory. The translucent energy continued hovering above her palm, delicate and almost weightless against her skin.

She stared at the shimmering light with the absolute concentration of a surgeon examining a phenomenon that should not exist.

The energy responded directly to her intent. It was not triggered by muscle movement, nor was it guided by electrical stimulation within her nervous system. It was guided purely by her conscious thought.

Raviah slowly curled her fingers inward, watching as the wisps followed the motion. When she opened her hand, the light expanded into a pale, flickering sphere.

She mentally pushed it toward the heavy titanium examination table, watching the thread drift forward before instantly pulling it back to her hand.

Her breathing slowed as the reality settled in. She had awakened her Root. It was not a partial awakening, nor was it a theoretical breakthrough. Her Root had finally responded to her consciousness.

The diagnostic terminal beside her console suddenly flashed with sharp blue text. A series of rapid notifications illuminated her face as the sensors tracked the change.

[ROOT STRUCTURE: ACTIVATION DETECTED]

[INTERNAL ENERGY FLOW: INCREASING]

[ROOT SYNCHRONIZATION: 18%]

[ENERGY ACCUMULATION: STABILIZING]

Raviah stared intently at the digital readings.

"Root synchronization..." she whispered, her voice barely echoing against the sterile glass walls.

The number on the readout continued to climb rapidly before her eyes. It ticked upward to nineteen percent, then twenty-one, and stabilized at twenty-four percent.

She immediately recognized the underlying biological danger. A newly awakened Elemental normally required significant time for their body to adapt to the sudden presence of elemental energy.

Daniel had nearly lost control of his own body weeks ago because his Fire Root had activated violently before his internal pathways knew how to regulate the heat. But her awakening was functioning under an entirely different physiological mechanism.

Her internal energy pathways were already partially developed. Instead of tearing through her tissues, the energy was smoothly connecting her microscopic channels with virtually no resistance.

Raviah reached out and switched the overhead scanner to cellular magnification. The microscopic image that rendered on the primary display stunned her.

Her individual cells were actively responding to the energy flow. They were not merely absorbing the elemental energy like a passive vessel. They were reorganizing their outer structures around it.

"That is impossible..." she murmured, leaning closer to the terminal.

She increased the magnification scale again, focusing on the active tissue sample. Individual cells appeared on screen surrounded by extremely faint, luminous membranes.

Damaged cellular structures were being rapidly reinforced while the surrounding healthy cells remained completely undisturbed.

Raviah immediately grasped the staggering biological implication. Her Root was not simply generating external raw energy. It was directly interacting with living cellular tissue.

She raised her left hand to inspect her skin under the bright overhead lights. There was a tiny scratch across her index finger, an accidental injury from an earlier equipment inspection.

Normally, a superficial wound of that depth would require several hours to seal and begin closing completely. Raviah focused her mind, willing the translucent light toward the minor injury. The moment the thread of energy touched her skin, the diagnostic scanner registered a sharp spike.

[LOCALIZED CELLULAR ACTIVITY: INCREASING]

Raviah’s eyes widened as she watched her own hand. The edges of the small cut began closing before her eyes, pulling together smoothly without leaving a scar.

It was not happening instantly or magically, but visibly and methodically. The damaged cells accelerated their natural repair cycle, blood coagulation stabilized, inflammation receded, and the surrounding tissue reorganized itself within seconds into a faint pink line.

Raviah stared at her pristine index finger.

"Healing..." she muttered, though her medical mind instinctively rejected the simplicity of the label.

That word felt far too primitive to describe what had just occurred. She had spent years studying human anatomy and pathology, and she knew precisely how conventional biological healing worked.

This process was fundamentally different. Her Root had not merely accelerated cellular regeneration. It had actively directed the internal architecture of the damaged tissue.

To test her hypothesis, Raviah picked up a sterile surgical lancet from the metal tray. She deliberately pressed the scalpel against her forearm, creating another light superficial cut across her skin.

She activated her Root once more, guiding the translucent light back toward the fresh surface cut. This time, she kept her gaze fixed firmly on the overhead display screen.

[NEURAL RESPONSE: STABILIZED]

[CAPILLARY REPAIR: ACTIVE]

[COLLAGEN SYNTHESIS: ACCELERATED]

[CELLULAR RESTRUCTURING: DETECTED]

Her heart began pounding against her ribs as the data stream refreshed. She fully understood what the scanner was showing her now.

The energy was not simply supplying additional bio-chemical resources to damaged cells. It was actively communicating with them, influencing the entire biological repair process at a microscopic level.

Raviah slowly moved her fingers, watching the light weave around her knuckles like fluid thread. The damaged tissue on her arm responded in real time as she willed the microscopic swelling to recede and the severed capillaries to reconnect.

She took a slow step backward from the examination table, her thoughts racing through countless medical applications. If she could influence damaged tissue with such precision, her Root might eventually repair severe organ failure, severed nerves, and massive arterial damage.

Yet a far more dangerous realization quickly took hold in her mind. If her Root could influence damaged biological structures, it might also have the power to alter abnormal ones.

It could potentially interact with mutated cells, foreign tissues, corrupted Roots, or even the wild biological mutations spreading across the apocalyptic wasteland.

Raviah immediately thought of the strange, mutating plant sealed inside the lower underground laboratory. She recalled its abnormal cellular wall, its impossible regenerative speed, and its terrifying ability to absorb ambient energy.

The moment the thought crossed her mind, her Root reacted violently. The translucent energy surrounding her palm suddenly brightened, flashing with a sharp, brilliant radiance. The diagnostic terminal issued an immediate acoustic chime, flashing red across the primary monitor.

[UNKNOWN BIOLOGICAL RESONANCE DETECTED]

Raviah froze in place, holding her breath as she scanned the console logs. The signal was not originating from inside her own body. It was broadcasting from the heavy containment sector deep down the corridor.

Her Root had sensed the strange plant behind the reinforced blast doors. Or perhaps, it had recognized the organism’s unique biological frequency.

Raviah slowly lowered her hand, watching the wisps hover quietly above her fingers. For the first time, she truly understood why her Root felt so fundamentally different from standard elemental abilities.

She had initially assumed her awakening would yield a standard Healing Root. But conventional healing merely restored damaged tissue to its original state, whereas her ability was demonstrating a far more terrifying level of control over living matter itself.

"This is not ordinary healing," she whispered to the empty room.

The scanner continued to log the residual energy dissipating from her skin.

[ROOT STRUCTURE: ACTIVE]

[ENERGY MANIPULATION: STABLE]

[BIOLOGICAL RESONANCE: UNIDENTIFIED]

She swallowed hard, staring at the translucent energy wrapping around her wrist. If this ability continued to evolve, its potential would extend far beyond stitching wounds on a battlefield.

She could potentially stabilize shattered organs, correct cellular mutations, repair elemental backlash, and perhaps even neutralize viral corruptions before they became irreversible.

Yet one crucial question remained unanswered in her mind. She could not comprehend why her Root had developed such a specific, complex structure, nor why it had remained dormant until this exact moment.

Most puzzling of all was its underlying connection to her private spatial dimension. The energy moved with the exact same spatial weightlessness as the items she stored inside her pocket dimension.

Raviah turned her head toward the sealed blast door leading out of the laboratory. Beyond that thick alloy barrier lay the Beast Core, the mutating plant, Sector Seven, and a world rapidly collapsing into chaos months ahead of schedule.

She slowly closed her fingers into a tight fist, compressing the translucent energy until it vanished beneath her skin. Before she could step away from the console, the terminal flashed a final red prompt across the interface.

[NEW BIOLOGICAL RESPONSE DETECTED]

[STRUCTURAL INFLUENCE: DETECTED]

Raviah stared directly at the glowing text, her heart missing a beat. Her Root was not merely capable of repairing damaged biological structures. It was actively attempting to rewrite them.
