Chapter 383: Chapter 383

Mark rushed back to Suzy’s side as if fleeing for his life. Nate was left far behind them, an enigmatic look resting on his face.

"What happened?" Seeing that Mark’s complexion looked completely off, Suzy couldn’t help asking.

"...He’s a pervert," Mark said with absolute seriousness.

Perplexed, Suzy asked, "Why the sudden diagnosis?"

Recalling what had just transpired, Mark found it difficult to bring himself to speak of it. It was simply too bizarre—so bizarre that he didn’t ever want to relive the memory.

"Anyway, something is seriously wrong with him. Let’s hurry up and get out of here—don’t stay a second longer."

As for staying for a meal or whatever, forget it. Missing one meal wouldn’t kill them, and all Mark wanted right now was to leave immediately.

"Alright."

With the alarm situation going on, Suzy wasn’t in the mood to linger around this base any longer either.

It was better to leave early to avoid complications.

The two exchanged a look, reaching a silent, unspoken consensus.

Within moments, the three of them arrived near Suzy’s vehicle.

The alarm was still blaring loudly, and a crowd had already gathered around, staring at Suzy’s car while gossiping.

"What’s wrong with this car? It won’t stop ringing."

" Beats me. It’s been blaring non-stop since a moment ago, and the owner is nowhere to be seen. Tsk, it’s not gonna explode, is it?"

"Explode? Now that you mention it... we better stand back. Look how beat-up this car is—if it really explodes, we’ll be in danger."

Hearing this, the onlookers who had gathered quickly shuffled backward.

Just as Suzy and the other two arrived, they caught every single word of this conversation.

The corner of Suzy’s mouth twitched, leaving her somewhat speechless.

What’s wrong with these people? Even the beat-up car wouldn’t just randomly explode!

Mark was even more bewildered. He couldn’t quite grasp what these people meant by "beat-up junk car."

Junk car? Where is it junk?

Suzy’s RV is far more high-end than any vehicle present, okay? Why do all these people look so disgusted by it?

Are luxury RVs no longer popular in the apocalypse?

By now, Mark was filled with endless question marks. But before he could dig deeper into the strangeness of it all, that cold chill washed over his spine once more.

Taking advantage of his lapse in attention, Nate had somehow glued himself right behind him again.

When their eyes locked, Nate flashed that harmless, innocent smile once more. "What are you thinking about?"

Mark swallowed down a harsh curse that had almost escaped his lips, forcing out a rigid, "No. Thing."

He rapidly shifted over toward Suzy’s direction.

Meanwhile, sensing Suzy’s arrival, the vehicle ceased its blaring alarm.

The others also realized that Suzy was the owner of the vehicle, assuming she had done something to make the noise stop, without giving it too much further thought.

Suzy pulled open the car door and stepped inside.

The moment she took her seat in the driver’s chair, a light screen surfaced in her mind—a 360-degree rotatable 3D model of the RV that allowed her to inspect issues across every inch of the vehicle.

Without Suzy even having to troubleshoot manually, a flashing red warning triangle was already pulsing over the rear tire area.

That was precisely where the problem lay.

Using her mind to operate the system, Suzy inspected the area, and a detailed breakdown of the issue popped up below the light screen:

—Left rear tire attacked by a sharp object.

The system even thoughtfully popped up the surveillance footage.

Cameras were scattered all around Suzy’s RV, providing complete 360-degree coverage without any dead angles. Ever since binding with the RV system, the cameras had been upgraded as well, delivering an unimaginable high-definition picture quality.

Clicking open the surveillance video from that timeframe, two sneaky figures came into view.

Upon seeing those two familiar faces, the look in Suzy’s eyes subtly shifted.

It was actually them!

Having just seen these two faces not long ago, Suzy naturally still remembered who they were.

Her expression flickered rapidly before swiftly smoothing back to normal.

Could it be that these people were just putting on an act earlier?

Knowing full well that she was Tina’s friend, they still targeted her vehicle. That enthusiastic attitude from earlier was purely meant to drop her guard.

A chill spread through the center of Suzy’s chest.

Stepping back out of the car, Suzy had already reined in her emotions.

"What happened? Is something wrong with the car?" Mark’s voice chimed in.

"Nothing major, someone probably just bumped into it by accident." Suzy subtly cast a glance toward Nate.

She wasn’t sure if this matter was connected to him; those two were his subordinates, so it was entirely possible he had ordered them to pull something like this.

Noticing Suzy’s gaze, Nate put on a look of deep concern.

Suzy looked away.

Bart and Paul hadn’t actually managed to inflict any real damage on Suzy’s vehicle.

Back then, Suzy had applied the Item Reinforcement Card—after being reinforced, the vehicle was completely beyond compare to standard cars.

Calling Suzy’s current RV a mobile fortress wouldn’t be an exaggeration in the slightest.

This included the tires, which had also been reinforced and upgraded. For Bart and the other guy to pierce those tires using mere knives and nails was practically an impossibility.

However, they had still caused a tiny bit of surface impact, and it was precisely that tiny disturbance that had triggered the alarm.

"Is the car alright?" Nate walked over toward Suzy with a face full of concern. "Is there a problem somewhere? Do you want me to call someone over to take a look?"

Suzy surveyed her surroundings. Countless pairs of eyes in the vicinity were fixed on them, all watching the commotion.

Two-thirds of the people here belonged to Nate’s camp.

It wasn’t easy to bring out the surveillance footage as evidence either. After all, Suzy’s car was currently a "beat-up vehicle" on the outside, and there were no security cameras around the area. Rashly pulling out high-def footage would only spark suspicion.

More importantly, Suzy had already checked—there weren’t even any visible marks on her tire. Even if she accused Paul’s pair of tampering with her tires, an inspection would reveal zero physical evidence, rendering it impossible to pin anything on them.

Since they were currently on someone else’s turf, Suzy decided it was best to act as though nothing had happened.

"It’s nothing. This car came with an alarm system, but it broke down a long time ago. It probably just glitched out of nowhere."

Suzy made up a casual excuse.

Seeing that she wasn’t planning to press the matter, Nate breathed a subtle sigh of relief.

"Then let’s go, I’ll take you two around for another tour," Nate offered.

Suzy and Mark exchanged a quick glance before Mark spoke up, "No need for a tour; we’re on a tight schedule."

"Is it really that urgent?" Nate raised an eyebrow. "It won’t matter if you arrive a bit later; even if you get there right now, you’ll still have to wait in line all the same."

Suzy smiled. "It’s fine, waiting in line isn’t a problem. Bringing up the rush suddenly is because I just remembered something—we might need to make a stop along the way."

"Make a stop?" Nate asked. ℴ

Suzy’s mind whirred at top speed as she continued to fabricate on the fly, "Yeah, we plan to drop by Lakeside Town to check things out."

In her memory, traveling from here to the P-City Base required passing through Lakeside Town, so Suzy blurted out the name of this small town directly.

"Lakeside Town?" Nate looked at the two of them with slight surprise. "What are you going there for? Do you know someone there?"

Catching the detail dropped by Nate, Suzy hastily chimed in, "Yeah, looking for someone, so we’re short on time."

Nate cast a meaningful look over Suzy and Mark.

Right at that moment, Paul approached Nate from a short distance away.

He didn’t dare look at Suzy, feeling guilty since he had just tried to sabotage her car not long ago.

"Boss, can you step over for a second?" Paul’s voice was faint and hesitant.
