Chapter 862: Chapter 856: Mysterious Phone Call 2
Tiana Thorne glanced sideways, feeling something tugging at her heart, and then it gently stirred.
May Sloane said, "I’ll go open the door."
"Okay."
Afterwards, May ran over and opened the door, seeing Sean Thorne standing there looking very weathered. She was taken aback and softly called, "Uncle."
Hearing the voice, Tiana immediately turned her head and saw her father standing at the door, looking quite downcast.
Ignoring the pain in her foot, she quickly walked over and invited him in, "Dad."
May looked at the current situation, feeling that her presence might be inappropriate, that she should give them some time to talk, gently pursed her lips, "Tiana, I’ll go out for a bit. Call me if you need anything."
"Alright."
Then May left, closing the door behind the father and daughter.
Tiana led her father to the sofa to sit down.
Seeing his red and swollen eyes, his weary face, she felt very uncomfortable inside, forcibly suppressing the bitterness, pursed her lips, and gently said, "Dad..."
Sean interrupted her, "Tiana, I’m so sorry."
Tiana was slightly stunned, feeling even worse at her father’s apology.
In all of this, he hadn’t done wrong by anyone, yet he kept apologizing.
"Dad, you haven’t done anything wrong."
"You’ve been by my side all these years, yet I never thought that you were the eldest daughter of the Ford family."
Tiana shook her head, "Dad, since I was old enough to understand, you’ve been my father. We’ve lived together, so why would we think otherwise? You, being my father, wouldn’t doubt that I’m not your daughter either."
Though she said this, Sean still felt guilty.
All these years, if it hadn’t been for Whitney Lynch, Tiana would have had a better, happier life with the Ford family.
"Dad, don’t overthink it, and don’t blame yourself. If someone really wanted to hide all this, we wouldn’t notice it with our simple hearts."
Sean looked at her, and her eyebrows were even more like Rouge Jarvis’s now. Thinking of how the Ford couple and those brothers loved her, his heart suddenly clogged.
Knowing she wasn’t his daughter, knowing she would eventually return to the Ford family, he still felt sad, reluctant, wanting to keep her by his side.
But, what right did he have?
After all, it was Whitney Lynch who caused her to leave her biological parents, and this father-daughter relationship of twenty-one years was also mistakenly stolen.
Tiana watched the deep expression in his eyes, as if he had thousands of words to say, but couldn’t utter a word.
At that moment, she felt both moved and sad.
Moved that, after knowing the truth, her father still loved her so much, never abandoning her, still treating her as his daughter.
Sad that such a good dad had to endure this pain.
Tiana grasped his hands tightly, looked into his eyes, and earnestly said, "Dad, do you know? I’m really grateful that you could be my father."
After saying that, her nose tingled, and she softly murmured, "I remember all the good you’ve done for me over the years, Dad. More than being thankful, I’m more afraid that you wouldn’t want me as your daughter anymore."
This statement seemed to pierce the softest part of Sean’s heart, making his eyes redden.
He opened his mouth, choked up several times, and finally spoke.
