Chapter 922: Chapter 916: Perfect Counterattack (Part 1)

Rosalyn Rooney was hanging, wearing a white prison uniform that was now stained almost entirely red.

Blood covered her beautiful face, leaving only a pair of eyes filled with despair.

Tiana Thorne took a deep breath. She never expected that visiting the set would reveal such a horrifying scene.

However, the actor dressed as a prison guard did not stop administering torture because of her and May Sloane’s intrusion.

With force, another whip came down fiercely.

"Ah—"

Rosalyn Rooney screamed in pain, her eyes rolled back, about to faint.

Tiana Thorne shouted angrily, "Stop it!"

Then she motioned May Sloane to step forward and stop the violence of this group.

May Sloane grabbed the whip: "You’re actually hitting for real in a scene, are you all insane!?"

The man frowned and tried to snatch the whip: "She offended the director; we temporary workers have no choice. We have families to feed, so we have to do as the director says."

As May Sloane listened, she found it incredible: "This is abuse. Severe injury leads to imprisonment. Haven’t you any respect for the law?"

"If we don’t hit, we’ll lose our jobs. We have no choice. The director said if anything happens, it’s on him."

May Sloane quickly approached Rosalyn Rooney and untied her.

That’s when she discovered that Rosalyn was covered in wounds, with hardly any uninjured skin.

She was even barely hanging on.

Rosalyn lifted her eyes with great difficulty. When she saw May Sloane and Tiana Thorne, her eyes welled up with tears, but she was in too much pain to speak.

She breathed heavily and, after a moment, said, "Tiana... Sister May..."

Tiana Thorne comforted her with gentle eyes, "Alright, don’t speak for now. I’m calling an ambulance."

"Mm."

May Sloane had already called for an ambulance.

After hanging up, she felt full of anger as she looked at the grievously injured Rosalyn Rooney. How could such scum exist in this world?

"Why isn’t it continuing inside? Do they not want their pay?"

The two actors playing the torturers looked at each other but didn’t dare step forward to seize the whip.

Because the aura Tiana Thorne exuded was too intense. Her eyes were icy, as if ready to devour someone, a presence they had never encountered.

Tiana Thorne helped Rosalyn Rooney lie down and looked at the other actors in the room, her eyes even more icy: "If you dare to touch her again, spending two or three years in prison would be no issue for me."

The two didn’t dare to breathe loudly. Having been extras for so long, they naturally understood things about the industry.

They hadn’t seen clearly before but now realized that this woman was Tiana Thorne.

Even offending Vernon Zane, they dared not cross Tiana Thorne.

Never expected that the bond between Rosalyn Rooney and Tiana Thorne was so strong.

Outside, Vernon Zane couldn’t hear a response and was extremely irritable, cursing angrily: "Are you deaf? Can’t you hear? Do I have to come in myself?"

Jenna Quinn nestled in his embrace, calming him: "Vern, don’t get angry. It hurts me to see you upset."

"Oh, it’s my little darling who’s worried about me."

Finishing his words, Vernon heard the sound of a wheelchair rolling. When he looked up, he was astonished—it was Tiana Thorne.

Tiana Thorne’s charming fox-like eyes were filled with coldness, like icicles on a snow mountain that would never melt, staring coldly at his fat, wide face.

Her gaze carried a deep scrutiny, and an undeniable sense of danger.

She sneered: "Director Zane, too leisurely. Misbehaving in broad daylight, one might think you’re filming a scene."

Jenna Quinn was new to the circle and hadn’t reached the level of encountering someone like Tiana Thorne.

She was only a newcomer; when Tiana Thorne publicly revealed her identity, Jenna was already on the crew, clueless about her strength.

Standing up to protect her benefactor, she pointed at Tiana Thorne’s nose: "You’re a cripple, who are you talking about? Can you insult Director Zane? I want you to apologize to Vern immediately!"

Tiana Thorne laughed, looking down at Vernon Zane: "Is this the kind of trash you’re into?"

Jenna Quinn was completely dumbfounded: "Are you calling me trash?"

Tiana Thorne’s eyes were full of disdain: "Aren’t you?"

"A decrepit cripple like you actually has the nerve to talk down to me."

He spoke with a voice that was growing colder and lazier: "Beauty, help me up."

At that moment, Vernon Zane was dumbfounded.

Jenna Quinn didn’t know what kind of person Tiana Thorne was, but he couldn’t be unclear about it, feeling at a loss on how to handle the situation.

Then Tiana Thorne, supported by May Sloane, stood up.

She was tall, with an aristocratic demeanor, a head taller than Jenna Quinn.

She exerted a palpable sense of presence, especially with that beautiful face.

Jenna Quinn’s heart skipped a beat, trying hard to control her frightened mind due to Tiana’s intimidating aura: "Do you think standing up means you’re not crippled? A woman like you, no man would want you, you..."

"Slap—"

Tiana Thorne interrupted her with a hard slap.

Jenna Quinn was stunned, a buzzing sound in her ears, her cheek burning with pain. She never expected that when she stood up, it would be to hit her.

"You..."

"Slap—"

Another full-force slap landed on the other side of her face.

Instantly her face turned red, tears brimming in her eyes from the pain, incredulously looking at Tiana: "You hit me, how dare you hit me?"

After the slap, Tiana Thorne sat back in the wheelchair, gently rubbing her palm, blowing softly on it: "Why wouldn’t I dare?"

Jenna Quinn was so angry she was about to slap back.

But as her hand was in mid-air, May Sloane caught it, forcefully pushing her back onto the sofa: "Thinking of retaliating? Better look in the mirror, your nose is crooked."

Sure enough, Jenna Quinn’s nose was crooked.

She touched it in horror, the fierce aura from before vanished completely, transforming into a little woman who dove into Vernon’s embrace.

"Boohoo, Vern, Vern, my face hurts so much, boohoo, Vern, who are these wild women, quickly teach them a lesson for me."

However, Vernon Zane was no longer the imposing man he was a moment ago, now reduced to a waiting-to-be-slaughtered pig’s head.

He shoved Jenna Quinn away, hastily distancing himself: "Who’s your Vern?"

Jenna Quinn stared at him, confused, not understanding how the man who treated her like a treasure just now could change his face so quickly.

May Sloane coldly said, "Not even calling upon the king of heaven would help."

"You..."

Every time Jenna Quinn spoke, her cheek twinged painfully. She held her face, tears of grievance falling.

Tiana Thorne parted her lips, her voice lazily cold: "Vernon Zane, speak out. What happened, the whole story, from start to finish, don’t leave anything out."
