Chapter 934: Chapter 928: Unknown to Others 3

Keira clung tightly to her mother’s neck, as if she understood what her mother intended to do.

She was scared, burying her head in her mother’s shoulder, her tears falling silently.

Keira’s mother, in despair, her eyes full of tears, walked step by step to the edge.

Keira felt her mother trembling continuously, she tried to keep her childish voice calm while trembling with her, "Mom, are you very cold? I’ll hold you tight, are you still cold?"

Keira’s mother stopped there, unable to take another step forward.

Keira said again, "Mom, I’ll hold you, over there, we won’t be cold anymore."

Keira’s mother finally couldn’t bear it anymore, squatting at the bridgehead with her daughter in her arms, howling and crying, releasing all the pressure upon her.

She gave up the idea of dying with her daughter, then returned to the rented small room.

That bad man came looking for her and promised not to hurt Keira anymore.

This time, Keira’s mother chose to ask Keira’s opinion and told her that they wouldn’t go back if she didn’t want to.

Young Keira could sense that her mother still had feelings for that bad uncle. Not wanting her mother to feel lost and sad, she nodded, and the two went back with that man.

But it turned out to be a cruel scam.

The man gambled away all his savings and had no money, so he set his sights on Keira.

Keira was a very beautiful little girl, resembling a porcelain doll. Selling her would surely fetch a good price.

He tricked Keira to the amusement park, saying he would take her to play.

One night, Keira got up to go to the bathroom and heard the bad uncle on the phone, talking about the price at which he’d sell her.

She returned to the room to hide, afraid, terrified, not daring to cry out.

Then, she heard her mother arguing with the bad uncle.

Her mother wanted to leave with her, willing to go back to the bridge, to die again, rather than sell her.

The bad uncle coaxed and threatened her, saying he wouldn’t sell Keira to a remote estate, but to a wealthy family where she’d have a good life and be happy.

And she could forget the heavy past three years and start fresh with him, having another child in the future.

That was the longest wait Keira felt, finally hearing her mother say one word, "Okay."

This time, her mother chose to abandon her.

She cried under the sheets all night.

The next day, when the bad uncle was about to sell her, before leaving, her mother, with tears in her eyes, handed her a small backpack filled with all sorts of cookies she had made overnight.

Keira’s mother was still reluctant, but the hardships had worn away her motherly love for Keira.

Was it really to live a better life?

Of course not. Keira’s mother knew this man well, yet she still gave up Keira.

On the road to being sold, Keira could have run away, but she didn’t, just holding onto the cookies her mother made, unwilling to let go.

Since her mother wanted her to disappear, she’d obediently leave, letting her mother think she had vanished, having no connection to her anymore.

In the bad man’s view, he watched as Keira was taken away by strangers.

Later, with her clever mind, she escaped.

It was spring when she hid in a small alley, begging for a living, snatching food from wild dogs’ mouths, and had grown accustomed to such days.

Clearly, it was hard, yet she felt much happier than being by her mother’s side.

Keira thought that for the rest of her life, she would never meet her mother again.

Until one day, while begging, a luxurious car stopped in front of her. She looked up, as always, hoping for alms.

However, she never expected to see her mother.

She was no longer wearing simple clothes, with a slender figure, a beautiful face, and diamonds shining on her neck and hands.

After a few seconds of daze, she turned and ran.

Keira’s mother grabbed her, disregarding her filthy appearance, held her in her arms, crying non-stop, saying to her, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Keira, I will never let you go again."

Just like that, Keira went to the new home.

She learned that once that bad man got the money, he abandoned her mother.

Her mother was devastated, full of regret, searched for her for a month without success, then went to the bridge to end her life, and it was then that she met the tycoon.

James Jules was attracted by her gloomy beauty, saved her, and took her home.

Her mother remarried him.

James treated her very well, so Keira’s mother asked him to help find her daughter.

Only, when they found the man who mistreated Keira and sold her, neighbors told them he had died two months ago.

Afterward, James’ people found that Keira had escaped midway. The buyer was furious, asked the man for the money, and accidentally beat him to death.

Perhaps it was retribution.

However, Keira wasn’t happy. Having been beaten all year round, she feared all men, subconsciously thinking that James was just like her mother’s previous boyfriend.

Indeed, her premonition was not wrong.

A year after James and her mother were together, he grew tired of her and started mingling with various women.

He always forced her to smile at everyone. Then he’d make her dance and sing for those women.

Her nightmare did not end as a young child.

Wherever James went, he’d take her along, making her a tool to make money, dancing for his partners, to make them like her.

By this time, Keira’s mother’s mental state was already out of control. She believed Keira’s return caused James to treat her badly and that Keira had taken the affection that belonged to her.

At four, she was beaten black and blue by her mother, who threw her out.

How could James give up such a money-making tool so easily? He took her back, hired tutors, taught her various languages, taught her piano, turning her into a more endearing little prodigy.

It was an endless nightmare for her.

During her studies, she was exhausted and wanted to rest, but when James found out, he’d beat her and hang her from the third floor of the villa.

Only when she did things wrong would she be taken down.

And her mother had no affection for her anymore, merely watching it all coldly.

Afterward, Keira’s mother died of illness.

James even more excessively made Keira work, starting her acting career at five years old.

From starting out by modeling kids’ clothing at the mall, to then entering the entertainment industry, she wanted to live like a normal child, but she had no right.

She could only desperately work for James, not daring to cry, or even show sorrowful emotions; even a fleeting moment would result in a harsh beating from James.

Therefore, Keira always showed a sweet smile to anyone watching her.

No one knew the bitterness hidden behind her smile.

May Sloane listened, heart aching intensely, her voice trembling as she said, "So, she doesn’t want to live anymore."

Tiana Thorne’s eyes turned cold, "The one who dealt her the most lethal blow, was Sue Rooney."
