Chapter 945: Chapter 939: Imminent Danger 2

Upon hearing it, Tiana Thorne’s eyes skipped a beat, and she furrowed her delicate brows: "Why so suddenly?"

Rouge Jarvis held back tears, pressing her lips: "I’ll have Preston Quinn take you to the Jarvis family to check, and I’ll head to the hospital first."

Tiana Thorne instantly lost her sleepiness, nodded: "Mom, you go first, I’ll head to Aunt’s house right away, and we’ll keep in touch by phone."

"Okay."

After that, Tiana Thorne returned to her room and changed clothes as quickly as possible.

Coming downstairs, she saw Preston Quinn standing in the living room, looking like he had been waiting for her for quite some time.

He nodded gently: "Miss."

Tiana Thorne nodded: "Let’s go, Uncle Quinn."

"Yes."

After getting in the car, Tiana felt uneasy.

Images of her mother’s tear-filled eyes flashed through her mind; even as she tried hard to endure, she felt her fear.

Though she didn’t fully understand her mother, she knew well that her mother loved Aunt deeply, as she was her only sister.

If Uncle passing because of this matter, the divide between Aunt and Mom would only become deeper.

There’s no hatred; just the sisterly bond would never return to its original state due to the deceit leading to the husband’s death.

Over these years, besides searching for her, Mom wished Aunt could return to Grandpa’s home and reconcile with Grandpa and Grandma.

Having lived more than half a lifetime, who wants to leave regrets in the latter half?

Her mind was extremely complicated all the way until she arrived at the Jarvis family again.

Uncle Quinn got out of the car and went to knock on the door.

Mrs. Zhang at Jarvis family recognized him, slightly surprised: "Old Man Quincy, why are you here?"

"Where’s Madam?"

"She might have gone to sleep." Mrs. Zhang answered, with a premonition inside her heart, asking again: "Did something happen?"

Preston Quinn explained the reason: "Mr. Jarvis received a critical condition notice at the hospital, I’m here to take her to see Mr. Jarvis one last time."

Mrs. Zhang was suddenly shocked, her heart skipped a beat: "Critical condition..."

Preston Quinn urged again: "Please take Miss and me to the bedroom."

Mrs. Zhang nodded repeatedly: "This way, please."

Tiana Thorne followed them to the bedroom door, her heart pinched tightly at this moment.

If Uncle really passed away, what would Aunt do?

Not allowing herself to think more, she gently knocked on the room door.

Pearl Jarvis wasn’t asleep, a hoarse voice echoed from inside: "Anything?"

Tiana Thorne’s heart lightly trembled, glancing at the time; Aunt must be struggling these days, even at this hour, she hadn’t fallen asleep.

She tried to be gentle, speaking softly: "It’s me, Tiana Thorne, Aunt, can you open the door?"

The person inside seemed surprised at her late visit, not responding for a moment.

Tiana Thorne moved closer, saying again: "Aunt, regarding previous matters, I sincerely apologize for causing you distress; I’m here this time..."

A soft movement followed, first the light was switched on, then she came over and opened the door.

Seeing was Aunt’s face, paler than last meeting, hair slightly grayed, aged several years in merely a month.

She gave a bitter smile: "To apologize at this hour?"

Tiana Thorne felt a pang of pain inside hearing this, knowing her intent with words, Aunt hesitated opening the door, ultimately unwilling to face twenty years of truth.

A simple apology would make Aunt feel guilt for Uncle, thus she opened the door.

Not forcing her anymore, she gently asked: "May I come in and talk?"

"Come in."

Afterwards, Tiana Thorne turned to Uncle Quinn: "Wait for me downstairs, I’ll be down soon."

Preston Quinn couldn’t say much, fearing to provoke Pearl Jarvis, he nodded: "Yes, Miss."

Entering inside, she closed the door again.

Tiana knew, in such urgent moments, she needed to keep it short, speaking softly: "Aunt, your phone didn’t connect, and I want to see you, thus came so late."

Pearl Jarvis looked up at her, seeing her resemblance to her sister in youth, as if carved from the same mold.

Looking for long, she recalled memories living at home, momentarily lost.

Tiana Thorne didn’t hear her response, spoke again: "Aunt, you and Mom look alike, I’ve never met Grandpa and Grandma, whom do you resemble?"

The words brought her back, recalling more distant times; father holding her in one arm, sister in the other.

Gently replied: "Like your Grandpa."

Tiana Thorne smiled: "Grandpa must have been very handsome when young?"

"Yes, very handsome."

This dialogue was Tiana’s subtle test.

She wasn’t sure if Aunt still resented Grandpa; if there was resentment, some things were never released.

Now it seemed, the resentment was gone.

Grandpa back then was also manipulated, leading to father-daughter estrangement.

"Aunt, I’ve heard Mom speak much about your past..."

Suddenly, she interrupted: "Tiana."

Tiana Thorne looked up, seeing her faint, pale yet still beautiful face: "Yes."

She continued: "I’m sorry."

Tiana’s breath deepened; she knew, the events twenty years ago brought Aunt much pain, she quickly moved closer, holding her hand: "It’s not your fault."

Pearl Jarvis shook her head, her eyes slightly moist: "These years, I treated Miranda Dalton as my own child, gave her the best, even monopolized your parents and brothers—Tiana, I owe you more than a simple sorry."

Tiana held her hand tightly, sharing warmth: "Aunt, don’t burden yourself with all blame, it has nothing to do with you, just confronting a monstrous woman; now truth is out, shouldn’t we, as a family, embrace happiness together?"

Pearl Jarvis murmured: "Family..."

Tiana immediately nodded: "Yes, we are family, Aunt; recently, Mom’s worried about you yet feared seeing you would provoke you, also, Grandpa knows this matter, he feels guilty."

"Tiana, mistakes deserve consequences, being family doesn’t justify forgiveness; Uncle’s past manipulation—had he confessed earlier, would there be subsequent mishaps? His selfishness led to Thorne’s agony."

Tiana shook her head, her gaze sincere: "Not entirely his fault, Aunt, forgive yourself, forgive those you love; back then, Cynthia Morgan schemed for her sister, who could foresee this?"

Voice deepened, continued: "With truth revealed, all presume Uncle should have confessed, but if circumstances mirrored ours, would we truly act rationally? Culprit faced justice, why continue self-tormenting?"
