Chapter 973: Chapter 965: Playing with Fire, Getting Burned (Part 1)
Tiana Thorne was slightly startled. Following his gaze, she looked over and saw that the door was still closed. She didn’t hear any strange sounds.
She asked, "What sound?"
"From next door."
Upon hearing this, Tiana explained, "Next door should be my dad, still working."
"The footsteps are from a woman."
Tiana was taken aback but didn’t think further and immediately turned on the room’s light.
She considered her hearing good, but she hadn’t expected Aiden Shaw’s to be even better.
A woman’s footsteps? How could that be in Dad’s study?
She frowned, suddenly thinking of Sue Rooney, who had also come today. Could it be her?
A woman’s intuition is strong; just moments ago, it was only a suspicion. Now, she was certain.
"I know who it is; it should be Sue. Come with me."
Aiden nodded.
The two of them left the room one after the other and arrived at the study door.
The door had been closed by someone. Tiana had the key to the study and brought it along to open the door.
She had just opened a small gap and was about to enter when Aiden held her hand.
She turned back to look at him in confusion.
"There’s poison in the room."
Upon hearing this, Tiana furrowed her brow tightly, "Dad’s inside. Could he be in danger?"
"It’s a narcotic; he won’t be in danger."
Tiana was taken aback, looking at him with some surprise, "How do you know?"
"Usually, Father is cautious towards anyone when outside. It’s only at home that he relaxes because of his trust in our family. This is when Sue seized the opportunity."
Tiana furrowed her brow, "If someone entered the room, he couldn’t possibly not know. So, did Sue drug him while he let his guard down?"
"Yes."
Indeed, it was like that.
Aiden opened the door and stepped inside, only to see the anticipated scene.
Sue, in her disheveled pajamas, sat close to Graham Ford, maintaining a very intimate distance.
She too was affected by the drug.
It was intended for a good night’s sleep and for the Ford family to find this scene.
Aiden covered his nose and mouth, opened all the windows and doors to let the colorless, odorless drug dissipate.
She walked over to Sue and separated her from her father.
Seeing her father’s sleeping face, a fire of anger burned in her chest.
Sue mustered a lot of courage to dare target her father.
Her gaze landed on the phone placed on the coffee table. Using Sue’s thumb, she unlocked it with a fingerprint scan.
She flipped through the album and indeed found the photos Sue had deliberately taken.
She deleted them one by one. Besides those, she saw other photos on the phone.
In that moment, her entire worldview was overturned.
All of them were indescribable photos of Sue with some celebrities within the circle. Sue had a face full of enjoyment, like a queen.
However, what amazed her was that Sue actually captured it all.
Was it to use the photos of the male stars she’d had encounters with to continue threatening them into dating her, or did she inherently have such a pathological obsession?
Either way, it thoroughly disgusted her.
And yet she still had designs on her father.
Seeing the stormy waves in her eyes, Aiden asked softly, "What do you plan to do?"
In Tiana’s eyes, a glint of coldness appeared. She spoke softly, "What she’s done is incredibly similar to how that woman named Meng schemed against my third uncle, leading to the subsequent tragedy."
"Yes."
She turned her gaze and noticed a small red light on the surveillance camera.
She remembered that her mom once said there was no need to have the study’s surveillance on, as it concerned the Ford Group’s secrets, and if a hacker hacked into it, it would be troublesome if discovered.
At nine o’clock in the evening when she came to the study, the surveillance was off.
By now, it had been turned on, barely noticeable unless one looked carefully.
Perhaps Father had already noticed; he had his way of handling things.
Thinking of this, a clever glint shone in Tiana’s eyes. A playful smile appeared, and she raised an eyebrow, saying, "Since she wants to start this, let’s continue the act with her. Fourth Brother, do you believe the show is just beginning?"
Let Sue understand what it means to overestimate oneself.
Also, let her see what true love is.
Aiden glanced at her father, then looked back at her, asking quietly, "Do you plan to pretend nothing happened?"
"Fourth Brother, considering the status my parents have now, it’s not the first time something like this has happened. If she thinks such low-level tactics can make my parents discordant, she should see Father’s reaction after waking up and Mother’s attitude too."
She had complete faith in her father’s wisdom and even more faith in the unwavering love of Mr. Ford and Ms. Jarvis.
As she spoke, she removed her coat and placed it over Graham Ford, then arched an eyebrow lightly, "This will leave Sue more hopeless than if I directly intervened."
Aiden nodded, "Let’s go with your plan."
"Okay."
...
The next day.
In the study.
Graham Ford woke up like he usually did after a night in the study but felt some soreness in his body as he rose. Moving his arms, he noticed Sue on the other end of the sofa out of the corner of his eye.
His eyes, slightly narrowed, seemed not at all surprised, with a sudden icy glint appearing in them.
He vaguely remembered, after hearing soft footsteps last night, feeling something off with his body.
Taking advantage of the situation, he had turned on the study’s surveillance and then sat by the sofa.
Everything Sue had done, every mistake made, was recorded by him.
He looked down at the trench coat on him, clearly remembering this was the outfit his daughter wore yesterday.
Tiana had been here.
Apparently, Tiana had also discovered this matter.
He picked up his phone and called Rouge Jarvis.
She had just woken up, her voice still slightly hoarse, "Old Ford, we’re just two rooms apart. Why call?"
Graham was succinct, "Come watch the show."
Rouge Jarvis responded, "Okay."
After hanging up, Rouge quickly freshened up and then headed over.
At the same time, Sue woke up, seeing Graham sitting calmly by the sofa. Her heart sank. Why did he look so calm?
Having once played the part of an actress, her acting skills were still in place.
She wore a coy expression, her eyes full of sweetness, "Brother Jiang, last night, I just missed you so much, so I came to the study to spend the night with you."
Seeing him remain silent, she tentatively asked, "I heard from Tiana that you were feeling down; are you feeling any better now?"
As she spoke, she attempted to move closer to him.
Graham crossed his legs, reclining lazily on the sofa but exuding a chilling aura from head to toe, causing her to stop her actions.
Sue suddenly felt a flicker of fear, "Brother Jiang..."
"No rush, with all your effort in planning, my wife must at least see for herself."
Sue froze in place, not daring to breathe, her mind in utter chaos.
In her imagination, he should have been flustered and angry by now, telling her to leave and warning her not to tell anyone, especially Rouge Jarvis.
Why was his attitude completely different from what she had imagined?
