Chapter 643: Is everything alright?
Chapter 643: Is everything alright?
"I am doing what I am doing because I belie—"
Before Kael could complete his words—
"Stonefangs follow Flying Man."
Gruumak spoke up, interrupting their conversation. Kael looked at him, Gruumak looked into Kael’s eyes and—
"Flying Man says he leaves if no one follows.
Not needed.
Stonefangs follow.
Stonefangs ready for peace."
Gruumak spoke directly. He didn’t care about the conversation Kael was having with Kayden, the moment Zakaar was done translating everything Kael said, Gruumak reacted instantly.
His people were dependent on Flying Man, they believed in Flying Man, and so did he—
He had seen what the Flying Man did for people, he saw how hard he pushed himself for people, even on the battlefield, the Flying Man moved in a way that saved most people.
If Flying Man left...
Everything would return to how it was before, the outsiders would choose someone else, a new Stormcaller and this time—
They wouldn’t win.
Flying Man made the impossible possible, he fed his people, he protected his people, that was all Gruumak needed.
And it wasn’t just him.
"Borealis will follow you as well."
The Borealis leader.
"The Cindersteps as well."
"The Rimewoods."
"The Shardpeaks."
"The Emberfolks."
One by one, every single tribe leader stepped forward, all of them made the same decision, the only decision that made sense.
And Kayden—
As he looked at everything play out in front of him, even though he wasn’t able to understand their language or what they were saying—
He understood their gazes.
They...
They were all siding with Kael.
It was surprising, the surprise however, didn’t end—
"The Velmourns will follow you as well."
Morvain stepped forward next and Kayden’s eyes widened even further.
"Mother...?"
He couldn’t believe it.
Could they not see what Kael was trying to do?
Or... was he in the wrong here...?
Kayden looked at Morvain for answers, the Velmourn Matriarch smiled.
"It is high time we end pointless wars, Kayden.
The Heights is already a nightmare to live in, unnecessary wars only make it worse. If that can be stopped, if all the Tribes can forget the generations-long hatred they hold for each other and unite together—
Life will be easier."
Morvain explained.
"But..."
Kayden tried to say something, anything to counter those words, but he couldn’t come up with anything.
"It cannot be us, Kayden."
Morvain knew what troubled him.
"Neither can it be any of the other tribes, it has to be a neutral party, someone the majority of tribes would trust with their lives.
And there is only one person that commands that trust."
Kayden looked at Kael when Morvain said those words.
Kael looked back at him and Kayden—
"I understand."
He nodded.
"I will follow you as well."
He lowered his head.
"You don’t have to bo—"
Kael wanted to calm things down, to discuss the future since most leaders were here, to discuss how they should recruit the remaining tribes, how they should focus on quality of life, how each tribe could have their own roles but—
Before he could say anything, Kael’s expression changed.
He turned towards a particular direction, others around him frowned.
"Kael?"
Even Lavinia seemed confused.
"Is everything alright?"
She questioned.
Kael didn’t answer, he simply stood up, then he looked at Aurelia, who seemed oblivious and was looking at him with a frown.
"Kael...?"
Aurelia’s frown deepened at his gaze.
She could sense his distrust in that gaze and before she could ask what it was about—
Kael was already looking at the sky with a grave look on his face, Aurelia followed his gaze and she frowned.
She didn’t see anything.
But—
That changed.
Behind all the thick, dark clouds that hovered over the entire battlefield, something moved, Aurelia narrowed her eyes, trying to look past it, she even thought about commanding one of her soldiers to send a scouting Bond and see what was happening but before she could do any of that—
Whoosh
The clouds split apart and a large entity moved, its shadow slowly covered the entirety of the battlefield.
And the instant Aurelia saw them, her eyes widened in horror.
The Sky Army.
Tens of thousands of soldiers mounted on top of Flying Beasts, wearing advanced armours far better than whatever crap the alliance troops were holding.
It was... not even a comparative battle.
Their weapons were better, their beasts were better, they had more artifacts and... they had the numbers advantage.
The Alliance Army, that was already exhausted to its limits, didn’t even have the right to be compared with them.
In an instant, the entire battlefield turned silent, every single conscious alliance soldier, no matter how gravely injured they were—
They looked up with grave frowns on their faces.
They looked at the absurd number, the armours they were wearing and were overwhelmed.
But—
Aurelia wasn’t the same.
Numbers or armours didn’t matter, she was frozen in fear because of another reason.
"Lord Astrael..."
She muttered in a soft voice.
Kael heard her, he then looked up, at the tall, broad-shouldered, calm man. He was wearing white silver armour that seemed similar to the others at first glance, but when one noticed the gold lines that looked like wings spreading across his chest, the detailing that was done on it—
It was clear that it wasn’t normal armour, neither was this man a normal being.
His grey hair was tied behind his back, he had pale blue eyes and an air of strange, almost eerie confidence.
He was standing on top of a Silver Winged Lion, a beast that was comparatively larger and clearly stronger than the others around it, making him stick out even further.
*Picture*
Kael looked at him, he had never met him before, nor had he heard the name, however, even before he used his [Eye of the Ancient], his senses made it clear.
This man was not like Aurelia or the other soldiers he had met so far, he was... a different level of existence.
A level that wasn’t... completely unfamiliar to him.
A Demi God.
Yes, this man was one of the Sky Kingdom’s Demi Gods.
As for why he was here...
Looking at the pressurising Aura he had been releasing all this while, his intentions didn’t look the best either.
