Chapter 38: Frozen Crypt II

Yogesh relied on his Spirit Wolf and his own enhanced physical abilities. His movements became increasingly coordinated with his familiar, allowing them to attack monsters from different directions.

The Spirit Wolf would distract an enemy while Yogesh attacked its weak points. Sometimes, they would switch positions, with Yogesh drawing the monsters’ attention while his wolf launched a surprise attack.

Liam, on the other hand, relied on his Evil Eye abilities and magic.

His tiny manifestation floated beside him as several smaller Evil Eyes appeared around it. They followed his commands, attacking monsters with beams of dark energy and cursed attacks.

Whenever stronger monsters appeared, Liam used Dark Magic to form blades and spears of condensed darkness. He could also use Shadow Dash to avoid attacks and reposition himself.

The two friends gradually became more familiar with their abilities.

As they moved deeper, the monsters became stronger.

The Frozen Skeletons were eventually replaced by Ice Ghouls and Frost Wolves. Some of them were already above Level 40, and a few elite monsters even reached Level 50.

However, neither Liam nor Yogesh had much trouble dealing with them.

Yogesh’s Spirit Wolf tore through the weaker monsters, while Liam’s Evil Eyes attacked from multiple directions.

They continued fighting for quite some time.

Occasionally, they would stop to collect the monster cores and other materials left behind by their defeated enemies.

"How many have you killed?" Yogesh asked while catching his breath.

Liam glanced at him.

"Why? Are you worried about losing?"

"Of course not! I’m just keeping track."

Liam smiled.

"Then keep counting."

Yogesh clicked his tongue.

"You’re really annoying."

They continued exploring until they reached a massive stone gate.

Unlike the other passages, this one was covered in intricate carvings. Strange symbols were engraved across its surface, and a thick layer of frost covered the surrounding walls.

Liam stopped in front of it.

"Looks like we’ve reached the boss room."

Yogesh looked at the enormous gate.

"Finally. I was starting to get bored of those ordinary monsters."

Liam examined the gate.

According to the dungeon information, the Frozen Crypt had a Level 80 boss. It was the strongest monster inhabiting the dungeon and ruled over all the creatures within it.

Yogesh stepped forward and placed his hand against the gate.

"Ready?"

Liam nodded.

"Let’s see what this boss is capable of."

Together, they pushed against the massive stone doors.

A deep rumbling sound echoed through the chamber as the gates slowly opened.

Beyond them was an enormous hall.

Ice pillars stretched toward the ceiling, and a frozen throne stood at the far end. The entire room was covered in thick ice, while cold mist drifted across the floor.

Something was sitting on the throne.

It was a massive skeletal creature wearing ancient frozen armor. A crown of ice rested upon its skull, and a huge frost-covered sword lay across its lap.

The moment Liam and Yogesh entered, the creature slowly raised its head.

Two blue flames ignited inside its empty eye sockets.

A notification appeared before Liam.

The creature slowly rose from its throne.

Its massive sword dragged across the frozen floor, producing a loud scraping sound.

A powerful wave of cold energy spread throughout the hall.

Yogesh’s expression became serious.

"So that’s the boss..."

His Spirit Wolf moved closer, baring its teeth at the creature.

Liam looked at the enormous skeleton and smiled.

"Well, this should be interesting."

The Frozen Crypt Ruler raised its sword.

The boss battle had begun.

The Frozen Crypt Ruler took its first step forward.

BOOM!

Its massive armored foot struck the frozen floor, sending cracks spreading across the ice.

Yogesh immediately moved to the side.

"Let’s go!"

His Spirit Wolf let out a loud howl before rushing toward the boss.

The Frozen Crypt Ruler turned its skull toward the approaching beast and swung its enormous sword.

A wave of freezing energy followed the blade.

The Spirit Wolf quickly jumped backward, narrowly avoiding the attack. However, the frozen energy spread across the ground, forming sharp ice spikes that shot toward it.

"Careful!"

Yogesh raised his hand.

Silver spirit energy gathered around his body before spreading toward his Spirit Wolf. The wolf’s movements suddenly became faster, and it jumped over the incoming ice spikes.

At the same time, Yogesh rushed forward.

His fist was covered in silver energy as he struck the boss’s leg.

CLANG!

His attack landed against the frozen armor, producing a metallic sound.

However, the Frozen Crypt Ruler barely moved.

Yogesh’s expression changed.

’Its defense is ridiculous!’

Before he could retreat, the boss raised its foot and stomped toward him.

Yogesh immediately jumped away.

BOOM!

The ground beneath him shattered.

A huge ice spike emerged from the spot where he had been standing.

"That was close!"

Liam watched the exchange from a distance.

’As expected of a Level 80 boss.’

He raised his hand.

Dark energy gathered around him, forming several sharp spears.

"Dark Magic: Dark Spears"

The spears shot forward.

They struck the Frozen Crypt Ruler’s back and shoulders, producing several loud impacts.

However, most of the attacks shattered against its armor.

Only a few managed to leave small cracks.

Liam narrowed his eyes.

’Its defense is stronger than I expected.’

The boss slowly turned toward him.

Its blue flames burned brighter as it raised its sword.

Suddenly, the temperature inside the hall dropped.

A notification appeared before Liam.

[Warning!]

[The Frozen Crypt Ruler has activated Frost Domain.]

A massive wave of cold energy spread throughout the room.

The floor, walls, and pillars were instantly covered in a thick layer of ice. Even the air became colder, making it difficult to breathe.

Yogesh felt his movements slowing down.

"Damn! This thing can control the entire room!"

His Spirit Wolf growled as frost began gathering around its legs.

Liam remained calm.

He had already expected the boss to possess some kind of area-control ability.

’Let’s see how much it can handle.’

He raised both hands.

Dark energy gathered around his body before spreading outward.

[Dark Storm activated!]

A massive storm of dark energy appeared above the Frozen Crypt Ruler.

Dark lightning flashed through the air, followed by countless blades of condensed darkness.

BOOOOM!

The dark storm descended.
