Dreven Academy: I seduced the Alpha king for revenge.
Chapter 120: ¹²⁰: does she know anything?
Athena’s Pov :
"Before going back, I had thought that Harry trying to kill me to take my position was as simple as that," I started, wanting to tell her everything now so that there was really no misunderstanding left. "I had thought I would just go back, claim what is mine, and punish him for his wrongdoings. But when I went back, I came to know that he had colluded with some strange, dangerous people."
"Are those people related to the man who had tried to kill you?" Luna Selene asked in between, her attention immediately sharp3ning at my words.
"Most probably, yes." I replied, looking at her keenly. I tried to find even the smallest hint on her face that could tell me what she was thinking, but she kept her expression carefully controlled. "Those people also know dark magic. They have even started living in the pack."
I took a deep breath, but it did little to settle the uneasiness building inside me. Everything strange I had seen in my pack came rushing back into my mind.
"They have changed my whole pack. There are so many new houses - red houses in particular that they have made for themselves, almost as if they want to keep themselves distinct from the people of my pack while still living among them."
Luna Selene remained silent. Her eyes stayed fixed on me, but the longer she listened, the more concerned her expression became. It made me even more certain that there was something she knew that I didn’t.
"I will ask you one last question," Luna Selene said. Her face was now visibly more concerned, and something about the seriousness in her voice made my heart beat faster. "Do you have a silver wolf?"
My eyes widened. Shock washed over me so suddenly that for a moment, I couldn’t even form a proper response.
"How... how do you know that?" I stared at her, trying to understand how she could possibly know about my wolf.
"Yes, my Anna is a silver wolf," I finally admitted, my voice filled with confusion. I wanted to ask her immediately how she knew to ask that exact question.
Did my wolf have something to do with all of this? Was there something about my wolf that I had never known?
But Luna Selene didn’t give me the chance to ask anything. She tightened her hold around Damian’s arm and turned toward Mother Elena, her usual coldness returning to her expression.
"Make arrangements for her in our guest room. She will stay with us from now on."
I blinked at her words. Stay with them? Why had she suddenly made such a decision?
Before I could question her, Luna Selene glanced at me one last time. There was something strange in her eyes.
Something close to despair, yet at the same time, there was a faint trace of hope within them.
The combination confused me even more. What had my answers made her realise?
She then turned toward Damian. "Help me to go to my room," she said, holding onto his arm even more tightly.
"Okay, Grandmother," Damian replied.
Before leaving, he gave me one last glance. His eyes were filled with the same confusion I was feeling, as though he also wanted to understand what had just happened.
Then he turned and followed Luna Selene out of the room.
I looked down at my hands, fidgeting with my fingers as everything seemed to collide inside my mind at once. Everything was too much to take in. I had thought this matter was simply about Harry turning his back on me and trying to steal what belonged to me.
I had thought I understood what had happened. But now... This seemed like something far bigger than I had ever imagined.
My breathing became shallow again as the memories of everything that had happened to me came rushing back. So much had changed in such a short span of time.
I buried my nails into my palms, trying to distract myself from the suffocating pain I was feeling. I needed something, anything to pull my mind away from everything I had discovered in my pack.
Everything I had once believed to be my reality had come crumbling down like a fragile castle of cards.
Romana... I closed my eyes, swallowing the choking feeling that rose in my throat. Just thinking about her - my own best friend, the person I had trusted more than anyone betraying me like this made a strange shiver run through my body.
"Athena, my child." I heard the familiar voice suddenly, making me look up from my reddened hands.
It was Mother Elena. She was looking at me with concern in her eyes, the worry on her face impossible to miss.
"Come, I will show you your room." She stepped forward and gently placed a hand on my shoulder before continuing, "You should get some rest for the night. You can get your things tomorrow, okay?"
"Hmm." I whispered and nodded before slowly moving to get out of the bed.
My body still felt weak, and for a moment, I had to steady myself before taking another step. Mother Elena immediately reached for my hand, supporting me with a reassuring smile as we walked towards the door.
"You have put a lot of strain on your wounds, so you’ll have to be careful with them for a few days now," she said as we stepped outside the room.
"I will be careful," I replied quietly.
Guilt was already building inside me. I knew I had undone much of the healing progress Mother Elena had worked so hard to achieve. She had warned me repeatedly, yet I had still pushed myself beyond my limits.
Mother Elena chuckled softly when she heard my small, guilty voice.
"Don’t worry. I won’t scold you for causing our previous progress to fail," she said, shaking her head with a faint smile. "Although I might have to keep a much closer eye on you from now on."
I looked at her, feeling slightly embarrassed by how easily she could read my thoughts.
She opened the door to the room we were standing in front of after only a few steps.
The house itself wasn’t huge to begin with. It was just a small, cozy wooden house where their little family lived, much like all the other modest houses scattered throughout the pack. Yet there was something strangely comforting about it. Perhaps it was because, despite everything that had happened to me, these people had still opened their home to me without knowing who I truly was.
"But now, you’ll have to take care of yourself even more," Mother Elena continued as she helped me into the room. "Not only do you have that dark magic inside you, but the position of your wounds is also critical."
She paused, her expression becoming more serious as she looked at me.
"They are right at your abdomen on both sides, which is a very sensitive area. If you don’t cooperate with me from now on, it can become really difficult for me to help you manage the pain the dark magic causes."
