Chapter 584: Chapter 357: A Great Success, Ushering in the Pharmacy 3.0 Era
The moment he activated his Spiritual Vision, Lin Qi’s pupils contracted sharply.
Unlike the peaceful scene from his last observation, the buildings surrounding the S-Class Pharmaceutical Society were now filled with a large number of suspicious individuals.
’Those Pure S-Class Prosthetic Implanters are nothing to worry about. The higher the Tier, the wider the gap between Extraordinary Professionals and Pure Prosthetic Implanters.’
’I could kill them almost instantly and inflict heavy losses on the two Mercenary Corps, but...’
Lin Qi didn’t look directly, instead using his peripheral vision to glance at the top floor of the S-Class Pharmaceutical Society.
The top floor of the S-Class Pharmaceutical Society was an open-air recreational area, but it was currently occupied by two top-tier Tier Four Powerhouses.
It was as if the S-Class Alchemists had each received some inside information. The vast majority of them were lying in their rooms with no intention of going out.
As a result, the two Tier Four Extraordinary Professionals on the top floor became like a pair of bright beacons.
Their attitudes would determine the mercenaries’ course of action.
Baili Xueyuan looked relaxed, half-reclining on a lounge chair, not even sparing a glance for the man standing at the edge of the rooftop nearby.
Her voice carried a tone of utter disdain. "The Round Table Conference wants to intervene in violation of the Super Alliance Bill? Do you have the ability to do so?"
Despite being treated with such a contemptuous attitude by Baili Xueyuan, Grand Knight Commander MacLeod—wielder of the Tier Five Extraordinary Item, the Sword in the Stone—did not get angry.
A SIZZLE echoed, as if water had been brought to a boil, and steam billowed out from the seams of MacLeod’s gray clothing.
MacLeod glanced sideways at Baili Xueyuan, then extended his right hand toward her. He gently curled his middle and ring fingers, twitched them a few times, and the left corner of his mouth curled up. He then closed his eyes slightly, as if savoring something.
This scene wasn’t just witnessed by Baili Xueyuan. It was seen with perfect clarity by the observers.
MacLeod had intentionally positioned himself where he could be most easily observed.
"Is that the legendary leader of the Round Table Conference, Grand Knight Commander MacLeod, master of the Tier Five Extraordinary Item Sword in the Stone, the Gray Knight who carries sixteen different venereal diseases?"
"Didn’t I hear that he was castrated by a mysterious female expert during the Old Reed skirmishes over a decade ago?"
"Keep your voice down! According to a reliable source, the person facing off against Grand Knight Commander MacLeod right now is that very same woman."
"I get it now. That’s why he brought the Sword in the Stone. The Grand Knight Commander wants revenge. He’s going to spread his diseases to his old enemy."
"MacLeod is even stronger now than he was back then. He truly lives up to his name as the legendary Gray Knight."
"He calls himself the Gray Knight, symbolizing plague and death, and forged his ’Life Towards Death’ Knight’s Will Badge at the cost of his own eternal damnation. It’s best not to provoke someone like that."
Everyone knew MacLeod was a ruthless man. Even though Baili Xueyuan had grievously wounded him all those years ago, he still dared to act provocatively in her presence today.
This time, however, he didn’t need to make a direct move. He just had to stand there and be a banner.
Baili Xueyuan’s expression darkened considerably. It was this same kind of provocation from MacLeod that had angered her back then, leading her to cripple him with a vicious blow.
Recalling the feeling of it in her hand back then, Baili Xueyuan felt a pang of nostalgia.
"If you don’t want your Steam Iron Bull anymore either, you can just say so. Feel free to make a move."
Baili Xueyuan was no longer reclining leisurely. She stood up and stared directly at MacLeod.
Steam swirled around MacLeod. He finally spoke. "World City has its own laws. I’m merely observing as a matter of routine since I saw a crowd here. If I recall correctly, this is the S-Class Pharmaceutical Society, not a territory under your Eastern Alliance’s jurisdiction, is it?"
As he spoke, MacLeod provocatively made a few metallic scraping sounds with the lower half of his body.
Baili Xueyuan took a deep breath, then said, "During the World Peace Conference, no form of violent conflict is permitted within World City. As a defender of the Super Alliance, I will enforce this with the strictest standards. If anyone wishes to test that, feel free to try."
Baili Xueyuan’s voice was loud. Though she faced MacLeod, her words were clearly not meant for him alone.
...
Inside the Circular Experimental Field on the 66th floor of the S-Class Pharmaceutical Society.
Lin Qi kept his head down, making a rough assessment of the situation.
’The conflict is still in its brewing stage and most likely won’t actually erupt. The current scene is nothing more than a probing action. The T0-level Mercenary Corps aren’t fools. Although Mercenary Corps have always disregarded the law, they would never act rashly without sufficient incentive.’
’The Eastern Alliance’s security measures are excellent. Right now, no one on the outside knows the details of the ’Phase Theory’ experiment. This probing is simply an immediate reaction from various parties to the Eastern Alliance’s personnel deployments.’
’And the most intense reaction is coming from the European Administrative Region. I’m afraid the Eastern Alliance has also been doing things behind the scenes that I’m not aware of.’
The two administrative regions were already in conflict before the peace conference even began. Lin Qi didn’t believe the Eastern Alliance was the type to just suffer a loss in silence. There had likely been numerous clashes in the shadows.
Today’s standoff was merely a surface manifestation of the deteriorating relationship between the two administrative regions.
Lin Qi raised his head again, his expression having returned to normal.
Based on his assessment of the current situation, the events unfolding outside didn’t require any response from him.
