Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch
Chapter 129: The Sub-Orbital Kinetic Penetrators
The sky fifty miles above the Eastern Strait did not turn red.
It burned a hard, blinding violet as seventy thousand feet of thin tropospheric air was sheared open by twenty feet of solid, unyielding tungsten.
There was no sound at first. Falling at Mach 9, the kinetic rod outran its own sonic compression wave by more than four miles, trailing an incandescent ionized sheath of compressed nitrogen that turned the gray morning clouds into a split curtain of superheated plasma. Down on the open sea, the salt mist dried instantly into drifting ash three seconds before the atmospheric shockwave even touched the water.
Inside the neural immersion tank of the USS Titan, General Vance watched the descent through three converging telemetry vectors.
The optical feed from Gungnir One tracked the white trail down through the cloud deck. His pulse within the cold fluorocarbon fluid remained forty-eight beats per minute, steady as the rotation of a turbine shaft.
"Impact in three," Vance’s thought pulsed through the fleet network, cold and mathematical. "Two. One."
Atop the rusted bow of the sunken frigate, Renan did not flinch.
He felt the downward pressure long before the roar arrived. The air around his temples contracted, eighty atmospheres of atmospheric displacement pushing against his skull with the weight of an overturned locomotive. The hair along his neck stood stiff, charged with the static electricity pouring off the descending metal spike.
Beside him, Shadow Knight Arthur dropped to one knee, driving his silver-black claymore into the deck to anchor his seven-foot frame against the impending gale.
"It carries no enchantment, Sovereign," Arthur’s voice vibrated through the metal hull beneath their boots. "No holy thread. No necrotic core. It is five tons of dead mountain falling from heaven."
"Then we give it a grave," Renan answered.
Renan pulled his hands from his woolen coat, dropping both palms flat onto the iron plates of the scuttled warship.
[Monarch Authority: Deep Trench Resonator] [Integrated Anchor: Shadow Commander Thorne] [Active Channel: 4,400 Bedrock Grounding Nodes] [Current Sovereign Core Output: 6,800 Units]
RUMBLE!
Forty fathoms below the keel, the black floor of the Nero Trench did not simply tremble; it reared upward.
Shadow Commander Thorne did not attempt to catch the tungsten spear with his hands.
The ancient stone colossus buried his gargantuan granite shoulders into the seabed, opening a six-hundred-foot vertical chasm directly beneath the frigate. Seawater roared into the opening in a colossal whirlpool, drawing fifty million gallons of ocean into the depths to create a low-pressure hydraulic cushion two hundred feet deep.
Then the sky collapsed.
The tungsten penetrator punched through the low cloud deck like a needle through silk.
The blinding white cylinder struck the water two hundred yards forward of Renan’s position.
There was no explosive detonation of gunpowder or volatile mana crystals. What occurred was the violent, instantaneous displacement of physical matter.
The kinetic energy of five tons of tungsten traveling at ten thousand feet per second transformed three thousand tons of seawater into incandescent steam in a single microsecond. A shockwave of pure compressed atmosphere ripped outward across the surface of the strait, lifting forty-foot swells into vertical curtains of white spray and tossing the four-hundred-foot hulls of the surrounding scuttled destroyers like wooden chips in a drainage ditch.
CRACK!
The solid tungsten rod slammed into the subterranean basalt shelf sixty feet below the waterline.
The prehistoric granite beneath the seabed groaned with a low, sickening sound that resonated through the continental shelf for thirty miles. A hairline fracture split the rock face, racing south toward the capital’s coastal highway, carrying eighty thousand foot-tons of mechanical displacement directly toward District Four.
Renan’s jaw clenched until his teeth ground together, a thin line of dark crimson leaking from the corner of his lip.
Through the soles of his boots, the kinetic energy surged into his own skeletal frame.
His Sovereign mana flared, burning with deep violet luminescence beneath his skin as he acted as the primary conduit between the falling sky and the deep earth. He did not push back against the force. He redirected the downward vector, twisting the kinetic line thirty degrees east into the open maw of the Nero Trench where Thorne’s waiting chasm swallowed the shockwave into the soft, unresisting abyssal mantle.
The fracture along the continental shelf shuddered to a halt three miles short of the shore.
Across the four municipal districts of the capital, the streetlights did not flicker.
In the recovery ward on the fourth floor of Saint Jude’s, Rhea’s cardiac monitor drew a single, slightly elevated peak before returning to its calm, rhythmic sweep, protected entirely by the four thousand four hundred shadow anchors buried in the bedrock.
On the water forty-two miles south, the boiling white mushroom cloud of steam began to thin in the offshore gale.
The frigate Renan stood upon was stripped bare. Its bridge glass was gone, blown out into thousands of harmless granules, its rusted radar masts bent backward ninety degrees like wind-blown grass.
Yet the hull remained buoyant.
Renan stood upright, wiping the speck of blood from his chin with the back of his dark wool sleeve. His coat was damp with salt mist, but his footing on the iron capstan had not shifted an inch.
Through the thinning steam, two miles to the south, the seven surviving Colossus Mark-IV assault mechs sat frozen on their barges.
Their human pilots were staring through their fractured windshields in stunned, paralyzed disbelief. They had watched a Mach 9 sub-orbital strike deliver sufficient kinetic yield to level six city blocks, yet the man on the bow had not been torn to atoms. He stood looking back at them across the smoking, boiling water, his violet pupils glowing with an ancient, terrifying hunger that made the cold iron of their cockpits feel like open coffins.
Aboard the USS Titan, inside the silent dark of the immersion tank, General Vance felt the telemetry flatten.
The seismic sensors along the Aleutian chain registered the impact, but the basalt shelf had not slipped. The forty sunken warships forming the Iron Wall were still anchored to the ocean floor, their tectonic roots unbroken.
Vance’s pulse finally increased, rising to sixty beats per minute.
"He caught it," Chief Engineer Caldwell’s voice came through the emergency loop, his words trembling with pure scientific dread. "General, he didn’t deflect the rod with a shield. He funneled five tons of orbital velocity straight through his own core into the trench. The man’s bone structure should have liquefied into porridge."
Vance did not answer through the radio.
Inside the tank, his thoughts moved with cold, mechanical fury. He had spent three years calculating the structural limits of sovereign entities, analyzing data from the Siberian Gates and the Scandinavian rifts.
Human flesh had limits. Even an awakened monarch bound to an abyssal system could not absorb infinite kinetic mass without suffering micro-fractures in his internal mana pathways.
"One rod cleared the dust," Vance thought, his direct link to Gungnir Two and Gungnir Three snapping open with ruthless military priority. "Now we drop the salvo."
High above the earth, sixty-two miles up, the remaining two orbital platforms shifted their launch rails simultaneously.
Forty-eight solid tungsten penetrators, arranged in two rotating circular magazines, slid forward into their electromagnetic acceleration coils, their guidance fins locking onto the smoking waters of the Nero Trench.
Down on the frigate, Renan reached down to his hip, his fingers finally closing around the obsidian grip of the void dagger.
He looked up at the empty blue hole torn through the overcast sky, his voice low, cold, and carrying through the abyssal link straight into the deep earth below.
"Thorne," Renan commanded, the violet fire in his eyes spilling down across his chest like liquid twilight. "The general wants to throw rocks. Rise and give him an island."
