DMS Chapter 263

Flinx and his friends, who had access to the transmigration system, didn’t actually know what effect having a class provided by a class scroll, or by any other outside factor for that matter, would have on Earthlings who didn’t have the system.

Would they have their own panels that provided them with data about their class levels and skills, or would they have something similar to what the locals had?

They simply didn’t know, and they wouldn’t know until Flinx managed to acquire a class scroll from one of the three Platinum-rank dungeons in Ilioven.

As for acquiring classes by joining local organizations, Flinx’s friends’ family members weren’t considering that option yet. Based on what they had learned, it would take years for them to formally acquire a class that way.

Flinx was just glad that some of his friends had taken it upon themselves to learn how classes worked for the locals who possessed them. In truth, they simply couldn’t imagine how classes would work without something like the gaming panels that Earthlings were accustomed to.

Was it all instinctive? Or did those who had classes simply know, on average, what level they had reached and what skills they possessed?

They researched the matter on the internet and learned that classes essentially functioned as professions, while levels and skills were gained through years of study, practice, and hard work.

Still, the Earthlings admitted that having a system panel made having a class much easier to quantify, which also made their progress easier to see.

By late afternoon, Flinx’s two secretaries approached him to ask about his plans for the castle and surrounding lands that had been awarded to him by the crown. They urged him to visit the estate so that Flinx could take a look at its condition.

Flinx would have really liked to start delving into a Platinum-rank dungeon immediately, but now that he had the Baron title, he had responsibilities that he needed to attend to.

Many of his friends were curious about his new castle, so they scheduled a visit for the next day.

They planned to use their cars to travel there, and everyone would come along except George, Keith, and Peter, who didn’t want anything interrupting their dungeon delving and leveling.

Even Olivia planned to come along. Unfortunately for Ambrose and Christopher, they had other responsibilities that they couldn’t get out of, so they wouldn’t be able to join them.

The next day, at around six in the morning, a long convoy of motor vehicles departed from Flinx’s compound toward the land and castle that had been awarded to him by Ilioven.

The convoy was led by Flinx’s car because his assistants would be the ones guiding him to the estate.

According to Demos, traveling from Ilioven to the castle, starting from the northern gate, would take around eight hours by carriage.

It surprised Flinx and his friends to learn how far away the land was, but according to his secretaries, his castle was actually considered one of the nearest ones.

The convoy had to drive slowly while they were inside the city to avoid accidents. The pedestrians who stopped to gawk at the cars added to the delay.

The good thing was that, after a few moments of staring at the vehicles, the citizens of Ilioven would move on with their lives. This made the Earthlings who had only recently arrived in Ilioven realize that, because of the presence of magical conveyances in the city, strange vehicles powered by magic weren’t particularly rare.

The unusual thing about their convoy was simply how many cars it contained.

Once they were outside the walls of Ilioven, the convoy began moving faster. The road to Flinx’s lands was straightforward, and using cars instead of carriages allowed them to reach the estate in six hours.

They stopped outside the castle gates and neatly parked the cars beside one another. Flinx saw that the servants had already lined up to meet them.

Reginald told them that the castle servants were already aware that the castle and its lands had been awarded to a powerful Platinum-rank wizard and adventurer. That made all of the servants fearful of showing any form of disrespect.

Demos explained to Flinx that, normally, long-time servants of a castle and its lands that had remained under the monarchy for a long time without a specific noble managing them would become prideful. They might even show mild disrespect toward the noble to whom the lands were eventually awarded.

There were exceptions, such as when the lands were awarded to an already established high-tier noble, like a duke who was already managing several other territories, or to someone extremely powerful like Flinx, who was a Platinum-rank wizard.

No servant wanted to be suddenly killed by a powerful noble or wizard simply because they had shown disrespect.

The servant acting as the butler welcomed Flinx and his friends. Flinx asked Demos and Reginald to communicate with the castle servants so that they could learn all the details about the castle and its lands.

In the meantime, Flinx, his friends, and their family members wanted to explore the castle.

They first asked some of the servants if there was anything dangerous inside the castle or its territories that could pose a threat to anyone. After receiving assurances that there was nothing dangerous, and that even the castle dungeons had not been used for generations, the Earthlings began exploring the castle in groups.

Flinx, Olivia, Paul, and Mark formed a group so they could explore the castle by themselves. They were followed by the head maid, who acted as their tour guide because the butler was busy communicating the castle’s status to Demos and Reginald.

For the next several hours, the castle became extremely lively with the sounds of Earthlings exploring what was now Flinx’s property.

Each group was followed by a servant acting as a tour guide who readily answered any questions they might have.

While Flinx and his friends were playing around, the castle servants were unknowingly busy preparing the multitude of bedrooms throughout the castle. They had mistakenly assumed that Flinx and his friends would be staying in the castle that night.

By the time the sun had set, everyone gathered in the dining room to eat.

Unfortunately, they found that the food served by the castle servants was not up to par. No one blamed the servants, since their arrival had essentially been unannounced and the castle simply wasn’t prepared to serve nobles.

Flinx and his friends purchased food from their system shopping site. The food suddenly appearing out of thin air left the castle servants flabbergasted.

While they were eating, Flinx, Paul, Mark, and Olivia began discussing the castle.

The castle was huge, but since they still didn’t know what kind of industries its territories could support, they had no idea how much income it generated. They would only know for certain once Demos and Reginald had finished examining the castle’s finances.

The castle was huge, but its distance from Ilioven was a disadvantage. Once Demos and Reginald had learned the details of the castle, its lands, and its finances, Flinx could start thinking about how he would manage it.

Flinx had an inkling that he would be able to increase the yield of its lands if its finances were primarily based on agriculture. With his Cleric spells and the Wish spell, which could imitate Druid spells, he could probably manage its various agricultural industries without much difficulty.
