Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 145
Flinx told his fellow Earthlings that he would not stop dungeon delving. However, since the debuff affected the speed at which he could complete his runs, he would only delve into the fortieth floor of the Dungeon of Mara once per day.
He explained that once the debuff expired, he intended to focus entirely on dungeon delving until both of his classes had gained a total of twenty levels. He also considered searching for a more advanced dungeon than the Dungeon of Mara, since the experience gained from its final floor would eventually diminish as he continued to level up.
“I don’t know about that,” Samuel said. “Soloing the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara might still be more beneficial than joining a party to tackle a more advanced dungeon. The fact that you can clear the last floor several times a day without any issues is a huge advantage. It will probably remain worthwhile for another two or three levels. Since it’s safe for you, I recommend sticking with the Dungeon of Mara.”
Samuel was one of the few who enjoyed crunching numbers regarding experience gains and dungeon efficiency. Unlike Flinx, who found such calculations tedious, Samuel carefully analyzed experience rates from specific dungeon floors and was convinced that the Dungeon of Mara remained Flinx’s best option.
Mark suggested that once the debuff was gone, Flinx should still test some of the more advanced dungeons. At worst, it would only cost him a few days.
Afterward, they discussed what Flinx had discovered when he returned to the mines where the Torbal Slavers had once held them captive. He told them there was nothing left.
Many of his fellow Earthlings were disappointed. The gate had provided Flinx with an enormous advantage, allowing him to level up at an incredible pace and become extraordinarily powerful in a short period of time. Based on calculations made by some of the more mathematically inclined members of their group, it would likely take them eight to ten years to reach Flinx’s current level of power.
A few suggested that Flinx try to locate the place where the religious fanatics had taken the gate, but Mark immediately dismissed the idea. The fact that those fanatics had been powerful enough to challenge the Torbal Slavers directly meant they were not people to antagonize. They already had one formidable enemy in the Torbal Slavers. They did not need another.
Dr. Paul raised another important point. They did not actually know how to operate the gate. Based on Flinx’s account, the device had been activated and controlled by the wizard, who was likely dead by now. Even if they somehow managed to recover the gate, they would need to conduct extensive research before they could even begin considering its use. They simply lacked the knowledge, resources, and time to pursue such an uncertain endeavor.
“How did you find the Torbal Slavers’ headquarters?” Edward suddenly asked, likely because of the earlier discussion about tracking down the religious fanatics.
Flinx recounted the details of his search, which led him to reveal how he had used the Wish spell to restore an elderly merchant to her young age.
That revelation shifted the conversation toward the subject of aging and how classes might affect a person’s lifespan. Before long, theories regarding longevity, magic, physical enhancement, and the nature of class holders dominated the discussion.
The conversation continued until sunrise, at which point everyone realized they had not slept at all.
Even then, nobody felt inclined to stop. They continued talking until Olivia and the others emerged from Flinx’s tower to begin their day. After they left, the discussion resumed, focusing primarily on the effects of the transmigration system on their bodies.
The greatest concern that emerged from their all-night discussion was the possibility that magic and the system might not function on Earth. The fear had no real basis, but even the slightest uncertainty was enough to unsettle everyone. After all, Flinx could only bring eight people with him when he returned to Earth.
Mark advised everyone to disregard the theory, pointing out that it was entirely speculative and that Flinx was still a long way from reaching level twenty. Nevertheless, the concern lingered.
Eventually, they reached a compromise. If the worst-case scenario occurred and Flinx could not return to Ilioven because the system ceased functioning on Earth, then the first eight people he brought back would be those who still had families waiting for them.
Furthermore, even if Flinx became stranded on Earth, those left behind could continue leveling until they eventually gained the ability to teleport there themselves.
After several more hours of intense discussion, everyone finally agreed on who would accompany Flinx on his first trip back to Earth. Those with families were given priority, while the remaining three slots were decided by drawing names from a hat.
Eventually, everyone grew tired of talking and decided to purchase food through the System Shopping Site.
At that point, Flinx revealed that after depositing all of the mana stones he had looted from the fortieth floor, his System Shopping Site balance had increased to 188,000 dollars.
As a result, he treated everyone.
He spent several thousand dollars on high-quality food and drinks. Someone purchased a CD player, several albums, and a set of speakers, and before long, some of Flinx’s neighbors arrived to complain about the noise.
Flinx addressed the issue by casting Silence on the speakers. Unfortunately, the spell lasted only ten minutes, forcing him to recast it repeatedly until everyone finally agreed to lower the volume instead.
The celebration continued until Flinx’s adopted family arrived.
To everyone’s surprise, Olivia allowed them to join the gathering. Flinx continued supplying food and drinks without concern for the cost.
Unfortunately, the four children managed to sneak some alcohol. Olivia quickly caught them, and the incident ended with David, Arcios, Keero, and Violet being sent to their rooms.
Although David complained to Flinx, he allowed Olivia to handle the situation. It was already late, and allowing the children to continue participating in the party would have been inappropriate.
The celebration lasted until the early hours of the morning.
Olivia, Ambrose, and Christopher greatly enjoyed the food, drinks, and music, which was why they stayed so long. More than likely, however, they would regret their alcohol consumption when morning arrived.
The following day, Flinx had to heal Olivia so she could go to work without suffering from a hangover. However, she specifically requested that he not heal her brothers. She wanted them to experience the consequences of drinking too much, and Flinx complied.
Once Olivia and the four children left—with the children still pouting because they had not been allowed to continue partying the previous night—Flinx returned to bed.
He woke up around nine in the morning and discovered that everyone was awake except Ambrose and Christopher.
He learned that Samuel and three of his friends planned to spend the day exploring the city. Since Flinx was roughly the same age as them, he decided to join.
He thought it would be enjoyable to spend time with young men his age who had come from the same world as he had.
Some of the others planned to roam around, but each group’s goal was different. The main reason why Flinx joined Samuel’s was that their group’s only goal was to have fun, while the others planned to check out different things for specific goals.
