DMS Chapter 172

Flinx continued his aimless journey, leisurely walking along the eastern road. He called it the eastern road simply because he had exited through the east gate of the city of Ilioven. He did not know, nor did he care, whether the road had an official name.

Even when noon arrived, the temperature remained cool and comfortable. Still, Flinx decided to rest beneath a tree beside the road. He retrieved his camping table and chair from his enormous fourth tab space, the Earthlings' spatial inventory.

Once he was comfortably seated, he purchased lunch from one of the many restaurants listed on his System Shopping Site and enjoyed a particularly satisfying meal. Since he had been walking since early morning, he had built up quite an appetite.

Flinx ate while listening to the sounds of the nearby forest and the gentle song of the breeze passing through the leaves of the surrounding trees. For one brief moment, he felt genuinely happy. He suddenly felt optimistic that someday, he would fully recover mentally.

After finishing his meal, Flinx decided to read a book. Instead of reading one online, he chose to purchase an actual physical book from his System Shopping Site.

The simple act of turning the pages and hearing the sound of paper further calmed his mind. The amusing part was that the book he chose was, once again, a fantasy novel written by a famous author.

Even though Flinx was already a wizard living in a magical world, he knew deep down that his love for fantasy stories would never disappear.

He remained beneath the tree, sitting comfortably on his camping chair and reading for several more hours. When the sun began to descend and the temperature dropped slightly, Flinx stored all his belongings in his fourth tab space and continued walking down the road.

Flinx knew that he was acting like an aimless wanderer, but he did not mind. As long as this journey continued to bring him happiness, he saw no reason to stop.

He also understood that the pleasant weather was because the season was approaching Autumn. Once true Autumn arrived, the temperature would become colder, and rainfall would occasionally descend from the sky.

Flinx was not worried. He had an off-road vehicle that he could use to continue his journey if he needed shelter from the rain while traveling. When it was time to rest for the night, he could simply cast his Galder’s Tower spell.

When the sun was about to set, Flinx heard the sound of a horse’s hooves approaching rapidly before he could see the rider. When the traveler desperately urged his horse closer, Flinx recognized him as one of the copper-rank adventurers he had met the previous night.

“Sir Wizard! Please help us! We were ambushed by a group of hobgoblins led by a goblin shaman!” the young man shouted.

“Are any of you injured?”

“None of us are hurt. We managed to enter a valley with a small opening, which allowed Sir Omur to defend us by using that narrow passage. He also managed to help me escape and find you since you’re the closest person who can help us,” the young man explained.

Sir Omur was the name of the silver-rank adventurer Flinx had met before. The title “Sir” did not mean that the man was a knight; it was simply a respectful term used by younger or lower-ranked adventurers when addressing older or higher-ranked adventurers.

Since no one was injured, Flinx thought his presence was unnecessary for the rescue. Instead, he healed the young adventurer and his horse using one of his Cleric spells, Lesser Restoration. The spell removed the fatigue from both the man and the animal.

“Return to your group. My elemental will follow you. It is powerful enough to defeat all of the monsters,” Flinx told him.

He commanded his wind elemental to reveal itself, follow the young adventurer, and eliminate the monsters attacking the group.

When the young adventurer saw the enormous wind elemental appear before him and felt its overwhelming power, he believed that it was more than capable of assisting his leader and companions. He immediately turned around and headed back toward the place where his group was trapped, with the wind elemental following behind.

Flinx also commanded Pip to follow the young adventurer so he could observe the situation through his familiar’s eyes.

After that, he continued walking along the road. He frequently stopped to admire beautiful trees, flowers, bushes, and breathtaking scenery. Whenever he found something interesting, he retrieved his Android tablet from his fourth tab space and took several pictures and videos.

A couple of hours later, Pip informed him that the battle between the monsters and the wind elemental had begun. Through his familiar’s vision, Flinx saw that the wind elemental had no difficulty defeating the enemies. Even the goblin shaman’s spells did not affect the powerful elemental.

Omur and the young adventurers he was protecting became spectators to the battle between the monsters and the elemental. Unfortunately for the monsters, the wind elemental was simply too powerful and defeated them within minutes.

Since nothing else of interest was happening, Flinx commanded Pip to return and ended his visual connection with his familiar. He knew that soon, the wind elemental would return and continue protecting him invisibly from above.

Eventually, the sun disappeared beyond the horizon. Since Flinx had been walking since early morning, he decided to rest early despite having already rested for several hours at noon.

This time, Flinx cast his Galder’s Tower spell and chose the log cabin design. Once inside, he took a long, hot shower to relax his body. Afterward, he purchased a large dinner from one of the restaurants listed on his System Shopping Site.

While he was eating, Pip informed him that Omur and his group had arrived and stopped near his log cabin.

Flinx sighed and walked to the door to open it. This time, he displayed his Diamond-rank adventurer guild card on his chest.

“Sir Flinx! I knew this magical house belonged to you,” Omur said. He then became surprised when he saw Flinx’s adventurer guild card.

“I didn’t know you were also an adventurer from Ilioven! We only came here to thank you for saving us,” Omur exclaimed.

Flinx’s guild card clearly stated that it had been issued by the adventurer guild of the city of Ilioven.

“There is no need to thank me. As you said, I am also an adventurer from Ilioven, so helping you was simply my duty. I hope you can forgive me for only sending an elemental instead of going myself,” Flinx said.

“It’s no problem, sir. I’m just surprised by how powerful it was. Now that I know you are a Diamond-rank wizard, I understand why it was so strong,” Omur replied.

“I’m sorry that I cannot invite all of you inside my cabin. It is too small for everyone. Are any of you injured? I have healing spells that can treat wounds,” Flinx offered.

“We are fine. We cannot ask for anything more from you. However, may we ask if you would allow us to camp beside your cabin?” Omur asked.

Flinx sighed.

As a Diamond-rank adventurer from Ilioven, he should be considered an elder among adventurers. Because of that, he felt that allowing his juniors to camp beside his cabin like wandering vagabonds was beneath the dignity expected of someone of his rank.

He stepped outside his log cabin and cast another Galder’s Tower.

This time, he created an exact copy of his tower in Ilioven.

He led the group inside. Their eyes widened as they looked around the familiar yet extraordinary facilities. Flinx explained how everything worked, including the hot and cold water sinks, stove, lighting, baths, showers, rooms, and toilets.

“You can use the stove to prepare your meals, and you are free to use any of the rooms and facilities inside,” Flinx told them.

“You must remember that this tower will disappear once I leave this place,” he reminded them.

After saying that, Flinx left them to settle in and returned to his log cabin to continue eating his dinner.
