DMS Chapter 261

By the time the awarding ceremony ended, Flinx was bored out of his mind, and he wasn’t the only one. David, Arcios, Keero, and Violet felt the same way. The only reason they didn’t act out was that their teachers were there.

Before the ceremony had started, Flinx had thought the event would be interesting. It was a chance for them to see how the nobility functioned, but he had been wrong.

It was boring as hell.

He had expected to see a ballroom filled with handsome and beautiful nobles dancing. There were certainly plenty of nobles like that, but the only dancing they had seen was performed by the entertainers on stage. If Flinx was being honest, their performance was subpar compared to what he could see on the internet.

The problem was that after the celebration ended, his entourage was allowed to leave, but Flinx wasn’t.

Thankfully, Abericht and Semanor stayed with him and helped him navigate the social scene. Flinx was glad when Abericht informed him that no nobles expected him to have the etiquette of a true noble because he really wasn’t one. He was an adventurer who had been awarded a noble title because of his power.

Still, because of that power, everyone treated him with respect.

Flinx felt a little envious that his friends had been allowed to leave and were probably already back at the compound, celebrating.

He had thought that he would be able to join them, especially the four children. However, even though he had tried his best to get them out, the Mage Guild had only allowed them to be away for one night.

That meant David, Keero, Arcios, and Violet would have to return to the guild that night, even if the party at the compound continued late into the night.

After a while, Flinx insisted on leaving the castle party. He told Abericht and Semanor that he wanted to join his friends at home for their own celebration.

“Don’t you want to know what that number seven meant on the papers you received?” Abericht asked.

Flinx simply stared at Abericht, who smiled.

After a couple of minutes, the old wizard and Semanor laughed and relented. Abericht then told him that the seven indicated his power ranking among the twenty-five Platinum-rank adventurers in Ilioven.

That ranking had been determined by Gremendor, Ruchamon, Orlando, and the other adventurers who had watched his fight with Orlando.

Achieving seventh place meant that he was considered extremely powerful. Gremendor was ranked twelfth, Ruchamon twenty-second, and Orlando seventeenth.

Flinx asked about the benefits of achieving a high ranking, and Semanor told him that the ranking would not only give him honor and glory but also additional bonuses to the stipend he would receive from the guild and the crown.

In truth, the stipend was considerable. It was enough to support a minor noble family that owned a large manor, even if the manor’s earnings were included.

Thankfully, after a few more minutes, Abericht told Flinx that he was finally allowed to leave.

He invited the old wizard and Semanor to the compound, and they agreed. They joined him in the car, along with Flinx’s two new secretaries, who had been waiting diligently outside the castle.

Once they were inside the car, Flinx handed the papers given to him by the host, who was a Duke of the land, to Demos. Demos was surprised by how irreverently Flinx was treating the papers.

They were essentially the documents proving his Platinum rank, his noble title, and his ownership of the manor.

Flinx’s secretaries asked him when they would visit the manor, and he told them that it would probably be within the next few days.

When they arrived at the compound, the party was in full swing. The music was loud, and the place was overflowing with food and drinks.

The celebration was being held beside Pondy, and the food was served buffet-style. Flinx saw that the food was a combination of what the servants had prepared and what his friends had purchased from the system shopping site.

When everyone saw Flinx, they started shouting their congratulations.

Abericht and Semanor, who were experienced adventurers, headed toward the buffet and started eating. Flinx noticed that they chose to sample the food provided by his friends, which wasn’t available in Ilioven.

Flinx joined everyone at the buffet table and filled his plate with food. He felt hungry since the food he had eaten at the awarding ceremony had long since been digested.

Demos and Reginald asked Flinx for permission to go to their offices, which were located on the second floor of Flinx’s tower. The two men had converted a third room into an office.

He persuaded them to eat first, so they did. However, a few minutes later, Flinx saw them heading toward his tower to begin working on the documents they needed to handle based on the papers he had handed them.

Flinx didn’t even know what kind of work they needed to do.

While he ate, Flinx looked around and saw David, Arcios, Keero, and Violet holding court among the children in the compound.

Since Flinx’s charges were wearing mage robes and were bona fide mages in training rather than simply cosplaying, the children in the families of his friends were fascinated by them. Even some of the older youths were hovering around them.

Flinx was surprised when David suddenly retrieved a magic item from somewhere and activated it.

Based on the children’s reactions, it was some kind of item that allowed them to cast the Tongue spell so they could communicate with the children from the compound.

Flinx assumed that the item had been lent to them by one of their teachers.

He knew that the Earthlings were fascinated by his charges because they had managed to acquire a class by joining the Mage Guild.

Flinx was aware that some of his friends’ family members had started considering obtaining a Class from various sources, with the Mage Guild being one of them.

He knew that the only reason they weren’t going through with it was because it would take them years to become full-fledged mages.

He also knew that some of his friends were becoming worried about their family members because they had promised them that they would try their best to get them a class. Having a class was the only way for them to receive the blessing of an extremely long life.

Flinx knew that even if this world followed some of the mechanics of the famous tabletop game on which their system was loosely based, its magic system was still different.

He approached Abericht and asked the old wizard if they could talk privately.

When they reached a sufficiently secluded place, Flinx asked how someone could obtain a class more easily than by training under a master or within a guild.

Abericht stared at him but answered.

“There is an extremely rare drop from a Platinum-rank dungeon called a class scroll. It would allow someone to obtain a class and the accompanying skills of that class. Unfortunately, the drop rate of that item is very low. If you successfully obtain one, I suggest that you keep it to yourself, since such an item could inspire enough greed to cause conflicts.”

Flinx was surprised and delighted that such an item was available.

He knew that the only reason he hadn’t heard about it was that he had only delved into Gold-rank dungeons.

The problem was that Platinum-rank dungeons were extremely dangerous. He hadn’t even attempted to delve into a Diamond-rank dungeon.

Still, a class scroll was something his friends needed, and, in truth, he wanted to test his strength against a more dangerous dungeon.

He asked Abericht what floor of a Platinum-rank dungeon could be compared to the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara.

Abericht told him that, on average, the tenth floor of a Platinum-rank dungeon was comparable to the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara.
