Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 79
Flinx knew that after killing the spiders with just a couple of spells, the 10th-floor dungeon monsters wouldn’t provide him the experience that he needed to level up his Wizard character. More than likely, he didn’t even need a couple of spells. Probably with just one spell, he could’ve killed all the spiders. Based on the loot, though, delving into just this floor was profitable. Just the number of mana stones and the monsters’ body parts that he had left behind, capable adventurers would earn a good amount of coins on this floor.
He thought of just leaving and entering the 20th floor the next day, but decided to kill more dungeon monsters to confirm that this floor would be useless to him. Soon, he encountered a group of rock wolves. There were six of the monsters, and they were huge. The moment the wolves saw Flinx, they immediately ran towards him. Even though Flinx had started to look down on the 10th floor, he had to admit that a rushing six huge rock wolves looked frightening.
Flinx cast a couple of 1st level spell, Magic Missile, and the two castings of the said spell were enough to kill the six rock wolves. He immediately gathered the mana stones that were lit up by the light from the Crown of Stars floating above his head. He didn’t dispel the 7th-level spell since he thought the light from the spell was useful, and Flinx didn’t need to be stealthy since he truly thought that the dungeon monster on the 10th floor was too weak for him not to be wary of any of them. The light from the Crown of Stars was actually the reason why the rock wolves immediately noticed him.
After gathering all the mana stones, he didn’t bother gathering any material from the wolves and just moved on. Flinx decided that after killing a couple more groups of monsters, he would exit this floor. It was really useless for him to stay here, aside from the mana stones that he managed to gather. If he was being honest, just the loot from the spiders and the rock wolves was enough to offset the coins that he had spent to enter the floor.
After walking for a few minutes, he heard the sound of battle ahead of him. Flinx understood that because he had quickly killed the two groups of dungeon monsters that he had encountered, he managed to catch up to the adventurers ahead of him. Normally, it would take a while for adventurers to kill the spiders and the rock wolves, so those who were ahead, if they were competent, would be able to finish their fight almost at the same time the adventurers behind would finish theirs.
When Flinx saw the adventurers, there were seven of them. Their ages vary from their twenties to their forties. He saw a couple of middle-aged men with the group. They were fighting a group of larger subspecies of goblins, which were the hobgoblins, and there were probably twenty of the said dungeon monsters. A lot of the hobgoblins were riding huge spiders. The spiders looked like the spiders that Flinx had first killed earlier.
Flinx knew that the adventurers noticed his arrival since he was lit up by the Crown of Stars, but when the adventurers saw that Flinx was alone and just continued watching them, they looked relieved. Flinx studied how the adventurers fought the dungeon monsters. The melee fighters were at the front, and the long-range fighters were at the back. There were only two long-range fighters, and both of them were women, and both were archers.
After watching for a few minutes, the only thing Flinx could say was that both groups, the adventurers and the monsters, were weak. It was understandable, of course. Not all adventurers could become powerful. According to the book that Flinx had received from the guild, most adventurers in Ilioven were at their level. The ones that attained Semanor’s level were extremely few.
Flinx was surprised when two of the melee fighters were brought down by the hobgoblins. There were still half of the dungeon monsters remaining, and he wondered if he should help them because their situation suddenly looked perilous.
When one of the women fell because she was hit by a spear thrown by a hobgoblin riding a spider, Flinx loudly called on them if they needed help.
“We appreciate it if you can help us!” one of the two middle-aged men shouted back.
Flinx immediately cast several 1st level spell, Magic Missile, and the magic bolts rained down upon the dungeon monsters like vengeful bolts from the heavens until none of the hobgoblins and their spiders remained alive. He chose the Magic Missile spell and not any of his area of attack spells since it had a mild homing capability. He didn’t want to accidentally hit the adventurers. There’s a chance that even a single bolt from his Magic Missile spell could kill them.
When the adventurers saw that all of the monsters were dead, they immediately attended to their fallen comrades. Flinx slowly approached the group to check if he could help.
“We need to get out of the dungeon immediately, Riana and Domez are both critically wounded!” the second woman worriedly said.
Flinx watched them bandage the wounds of the two warriors and the archer, but he saw that one of the warriors was hit in the neck by a spear, and the woman was hit in the chest. Both were still alive but barely.
“I have healing potions,” Flinx told the group.
“Can you sell us some?” The man who looked like the oldest of them asked.
Flinx immediately cast the 1st-level spell Healing Elixir three times by putting the spell on three of the 1st-level slots and handed the elixir immediately to the middle-aged man.
“How do we use it?” the man asked.
“I just drink it if I need healing,” Flinx replied.
Flinx was shocked when the middle-aged man bravely pulled out the spear from the woman’s chest and then immediately poured the potion into her mouth. Thankfully, the woman didn’t immediately die, and even though the woman looked a little as if she had drowned from the potion, everyone saw the effect. The wounds on the woman’s chest started to knit close, and color returned to his face. Everyone was shocked at how potent the potion was, and if Flinx was being honest, he was shocked as well. This was actually the first time he saw his Healing Elixir used on an extremely wounded person.
The middle-aged men rushed to the two downed warriors and poured the potions into their mouths, and their wounds started to heal immediately. The uninjured woman started crying and hugged the woman who was injured.
“I’m alright, Gabrielle,” The previously injured woman comforted the crying girl.
The middle-aged man looked extremely relieved when he saw that his group members were fully healed. He stood up and approached Flinx.
“We’re extremely grateful for your assistance, sir. My name is George, and I lead this group.”
“I’m Flinx. As you may have noticed, I’m a Diamond Rank magic caster. I went to this floor to scout out the dungeon first since I just arrived in the city. This floor’s level is way too low for me,” Flinx replied while he pointed at the Diamond Rank guild card that was prominently displayed as a medallion on his chest.
“Well, I’m glad that you’ve decided to venture into this floor. Because of that, my people were saved. How much do we owe you for the potions? If we can’t pay you now, we will make a plan to pay you once we’re outside.”
“Oh, no. You don’t need to pay me. I made those potions, and they didn’t cost me anything. I just don’t want to see anyone dying in front of me on my first week in Ilioven,” Flinx said with a smile.
