DMS Chapter 96

The night had deepened, and Olivia, Christopher, and Ambrose were still not back from the shop. Flinx couldn’t wait for them any longer, so he served food that he had cooked when he was traveling with the merchant caravan to the children, since he still had plenty left.

“Your conjured food is much more delicious than the food that Christopher cooked,” Violet said. 

“I cooked those. I’m actually a very good cook, but I don’t want to bother cooking all the time, so I cooked a lot of them and stored them in my magic storage space,” Flinx told the kids.

“What is a magic storage space?” Violet asked.

“It’s a magical room that I can only access. The room is somewhere in another dimension, and time doesn’t exist inside, so anything I store there wouldn’t spoil,” Flinx answered.

The four children looked at him in awe.

“I wish I could be a wizard,” David said, and the others chimed in that they wanted to become wizards as well.

“Well, once the shop is stable, we can try to check if you have the talent for wizardry using the funds the shop would earn,” Flinx told the kids, and they cheered.

Flinx liked the fact that the little girl Violet, was becoming more verbose. It meant that she started feeling safe enough within the tower or with Flinx, Olivia, and her two brothers to act like the little girl that she was. Based on his observation, every time she started acting like a girl, her brothers would admonish her since they wanted to protect her from child predators that litter the streets of Ilioven. The fact that David, Arcios, and Keero allowed her to start behaving like a girl meant that they felt safe within the tower.

This comforted Flinx and allowed him to feel that he had done something to benefit the world. Because of the joy it brought him, he felt that he had healed a little. He wondered if Flinx should start helping more people, like maybe looking to helping the orphanage where the kids previously stayed.

Flinx then felt silly for thinking such things. He knew for a fact that if he started doing something like that, he wouldn’t be really helping the orphans, but the people benefiting from those who wanted to help. Such was the world where he was currently living. Another point was that he wasn’t free. He currently had a goal, and that goal was also extremely important for him, which was to help free his fellow Earthlings from the wizard enslavers. He knew that the only thing he should focus on was leveling up.

After they ate, he asked David to assist his brothers and sister in washing up. The four kids ran upstairs without waiting for any more instructions from Flinx. He knew that they were avoiding hearing him say that they should sleep after washing up. They still wanted to play, and Flinx just let them be.  

In the meantime, Flinx spent time relaxing by watching anime using the 1^st tab in his system. After a few episodes, he knew that the children were asleep. He didn’t forget to renew the Galder’s Tower spell. Thankfully, after three weeks, he didn’t have to worry about leaving the tower for days because the tower would become permanent after that.

Still, one advantage of renewing the Galder’s Tower spell was that it also cleaned the whole tower thoroughly.

Soon, Olivia and her two brothers arrived. The three of them were extremely excited.

“Flinx, the shop is successful! I sold 10 soaps, four candles, and six poufs!” Olivia said.

She was about to tell the accounting details, but Flinx stopped her.

“Just go ahead and create an account book that I can check. I planned to check it once a month. Just inform me if our product inventory is low so I can conjure more,” Flinx told Olivia.

“What about the coins?”

“Just keep them for me. They would be the house’s funds. Once you’ve gathered enough, you can spend some of them to hire a teacher for both Christopher and Ambrose. If you want, you can also start hiring a shop assistant, so you can train them early.”

Christopher and Ambrose became extremely excited when they heard that they could start studying being a check and an adventurer once the shop earned enough coins.

“What are you going to do with the magic sword, shield, and bracers you had me identify?” Ambrose asked.

When Flinx told the boy that he would just sell them, Ambrose suddenly looked like ants were biting his ass.

“Can you lend them to me until I become an adventurer and start delving into a dungeon to gather funds to pay you for them?” Olivia’s brother asked.

“Sure. But you can’t wield them for now. Once the shop earns enough coins and you have hired a tutor or enrolled in some sort of warrior school, you can only use those items once your teacher tells you that you’re allowed to. Have these identified as well,” Flinx told Ambrose and handed the whip and the boots that he received from the 30^th floor.

“Aren’t you planning to wear the items that you receive from the dungeon?” Olivia asked.

“Those items came from the 20^th and the 30^th floor of the dungeon of Mara, so basically, they’re too weak for me. Besides, I’ll probably only keep items that were useful for a magic caster, and the items that I’ve received so far were for warriors.”

“The boots could be for wizards,” Christopher said.

“Still, they’re from the 30^th floor. I’ll keep the items that came from the 50^th floor once I’ve entered the floor.”

“Why were you entering the upper floors?” Ambrose asked.

“It’s because I don’t want to gamble with my life. I don’t know anything about the dungeon. I want to check how powerful the monsters were. I’m delving alone, so it’s better if I’m aware of their power. So far, the monsters from the 20^th and the 30^th floor were weak. Tomorrow, I’ll delve into the 40^th floor. If I still find them weak, I’ll go directly to the  50^th floor.”

“Still alone?” Ambrose asked with wide eyes.

“Not really. As you know, I can summon powerful elementals, like the Rockies and Pondy.”

“Who’s Pondy and the Rockies?” Olivia asked.

“The kids named the water elemental outside as Pondy, and the stone golems were Rocky One, Rocky Two, and Rocky Three.”

“Which is which? How can they tell?” Christopher asked.

“The kids told me that they were with one of the golems; it’s always going to be Rocky One. If the three golems were with them and they needed a golem, they would call Rocky One first, and the first to respond would be Rocky One. If they need a second golem for some reason, they would call on Rocky Two, and the one who responds will be Rocky Two, and so on.”

Olivia and her two brothers laugh at the four kids' naming convention. After that, Flinx asked if the three of them had eaten, and they said they had. They would have brought food, but Christopher said that you wouldn’t have waited for them since it was really late, and would have found a way to feed the children, so they decided not to bring any for them.

Before going upstairs to their room, Olivia made a comment on how the tower was always clean. There’s not a cobweb or dust in sight. Flinx informed him that he needed to renew the Tower spell every day or else the tower would disappear. Every time he renewed the spell, it would revert to its initial clean state.
