Chapter 1019: Chapter 1019: Fishing fun

After engaging in an exhilarating spar against Findley and Khuno gradually growing his already impressive strength Frost returned to the private space where Nanna was busy preparing breakfast for the family. Loki was helping set the table while Maya was apparently still in bed still reeling from their nightly engagements and Daki was in the shower, freshening herself up for another day of being away from her forge.

"Smells lovely as always Nanna." Frost remarked while sniffing the air, ever since Nanna took up an interest in cooking their table had been blessed with an endless array of new recipes. Today she was preparing snow owl eggs atop chargrilled black hide pig bacon, a popular dish now that Frost had released numerous boars and pigs across the Dungeon’s upper floors.

"It’ll be ready in just a couple minutes, Master." Her eyes were laser focused on the eggs frying on the pan, but she made sure to respond to Frost’s calling, some things were more important after all.

"I can’t wait." He took a seat at the table, taking a napkin and the cutlery offered by Loki as he scampered away to Nanna’s side with plates in hand. While he didn’t have a passion for cooking like his sister he loved to help her out even without being asked.

"Are you two still up for fishing?"

Recently after understanding the demand for food based materials within the city Frost used roughly half a day’s income to generate an additional room on the first floor.

Inside was a massive frozen lake filled to the brim with fish, both simple creatures and monsters albeit being no higher than F-rank.

Many avid fishers were already used to fishing in the rivers found in the first room and the lower floors but now that there was an entire room dedicated to the sport they made a beeline straight for it. Within an hour of the news breaking the room dubbed ice fishing paradise welcomed dozens upon dozens of eager customers.

Thanks to Frost’s machinations the first floor had lost most if not all its danger thus even non-adventurers could often be seen entering in search of materials, food based or otherwise.

In leu of this trend many restaurants started sending in staff members in search of ingredients while also increasing the amount of requests they sent to the adventurers guild which in turn saw a boon in newly registered adventurers, even the old and frail applied, keen to earn some money through fishing or foraging now that the vast amount of danger had left the first room.

Frost keen to have a healthy work-life balance invited Nanna and Loki to join him on his fishing trip, Nanna was even prepared to cook whatever they caught for dinner tonight.

"Definitely I’m going to catch a fish as big as me." Loki quickly shouted, his excitement undeniable.

"Of course Master, we’d love to do anything as long as you’re there." Nanna added while scraping food onto the nearby plates. She blushed a little however after realising how embarrassing her words were.

"You can count me in as well." Daki who’s hair was still slightly damp poked her head out of the bathroom.

"Great it’ll be a family outing then, Maya do you want to come?" Frost was ecstatic, his voice booming through into the master bedroom that was left a jar.

"....No thanks, fishing’s not really my thing but I’ll gladly eat whatever you catch." Eventually after a few seconds a groggy voice left the room. Though the idea of going on an outing as a family filled her with joy Maya had absolutely zero interest in fishing. As far she was concerned it was the most boring activity in existence...at least when it came to normal fishing. High level fishing with literal sea monsters was very different.

"Alright I’ll make sure to bring back an extra tasty specimen just for you to sink your teeth into." It was a shame Maya wasn’t joining them, but he wouldn’t let that detract from his excitement.

After breakfast the group of four made their way towards the ice fishing paradise, their steps eager and full of anticipation.

"Is the hat really necessary?" Daki asked with a strange look in her eyes.

"If I’m going to do something I might as well do it right." Frost replied proudly. He wasn’t in his usual robes but rather decked up in the most fisherman like attire you could possibly imagine he even had a hat lined with different lures.

"I think you look very... professional Master." Nanna offered her support but internally she was trying her best not to cringe.

"We are fishermen!" Loki bellowed in a childlike manner as he too wore similar apparel to Frost.

"That we are Loki." Frost alongside his mini me thus marched forward with bold steps and smiles on their lips while their female companions shook their heads unable to understand the fascination.

The ice fishing paradise was made up of seven massive lakes with roughly 70% of their surfaces completely frozen. To reach the fish below you needed to walk across the ice and drill a hole deep down for your line to pass through otherwise you could stand at the water’s edge where it wasn’t frozen and cast your lure.

"Hoh we’ve got a professional here."

"How cute."

"Good luck little fisherman." Several older gentlemen and ladies praised Loki and Frost’s chosen attire, particularly the former.

"Hehehe." Weak to praise Loki felt bashful, his smile stretching from ear to ear as he walked with even bigger steps.

"Haaaaa as long as they’re having fun I guess." Daki shook her head and sighed feeling that such clothes were a waste of their charming faces but if it made them happy she wasn’t one to complain.

Soon the group found a spot to set camp.

"Give me a second." Frost pulled out the training spear he got from Khione and dug out a hole roughly half a metre in radius, big enough to yank out a large tuna fish. "You can drop your lure when you’re ready Loki just be careful not to fall in." He set up Loki’s hole first before helping Nanna.

"I will." Loki was quite the eager beaver, the moment Frost finished making the hole he attached some bait to the end of his line and dropped it down the hole. He then took a seat on the ice, digging his feet into a couple divets for support as he anticipated a big haul.

Nanna was set up right next to her brother so they could help each other and keep each company during the wait.

"Do you want me to help you out as well?" Once the kids were done Frost asked the fair maiden accompanying him.

"How charming but don’t worry there’s no need." Daki batted her eyes in a flirtatious manner before pulling out a hammer and stake from her storage ring.

Ting ting ting

With a few well timed strikes she created a large hole in the ice that was at least 50% bigger than Nanna and Loki’s.

"Hoh seems you’ve got your eyes on the big game." Nanna and Loki had a bigger hole than normal to make it easier for them to pull up their catch, but Daki wasn’t a child and she wasn’t new to fishing either therefore a bigger hole meant she wanted to hunt something big.

"Of course, it’s no fun unless you’re after the biggest fish in the lake." Daki radiating the confidence and demeanour of an expert firmly thumped her chest causing her breasts to ripple and jiggle, drawing Frost’s heated gaze.t

Feeling his eyes on her Daki revealed a playful smile. "By the way Frost dear how about a little wager?"

"A wager? What kind of wager?" He was quite fond of games and betting thus he responded with great interest.

"We’ll use the same hole and whoever manages to reel in the most fish will be the winner....and the reward." Daki leaned forward and seductively whispered in Frost’s ear. What she said was known only between them but given the expression on his face the reward was clearly something he desired.

And as if a fire was lit under his ass Frost pulled out his rod, applied the most expensive bait he had on hand and lowered his lure into the hole Daki created.

"Hehehe how cute." Daki was more relaxed, taking her time to set up her tools before eventually lowering her lure down the hole, now all they had to do was wait.

About twenty minutes later Loki reeled in his first catch, a small brown coloured loach no bigger that his forearm but even so the young boy jumped up and down in excitement, wasting no time at all to shove his success in Frost and Daki’s face.

"I did it! I caught a fish Master look."

"Wow very impressive Loki, remember to put it in the bucket to keep it fresh." Frost reminded as calmly as possible. He’d been sitting here with his eyes locked onto his pole yet there hadn’t been even the slightest tremor while Daki as if she was some kind of fishing God already had three fishes in her bucket, one was even the size of her thigh.

"Oh yeah, hehehe I caught a fish~ I caught a fish~" Loki hummed and sang while putting the fish in his bucket and readied himself to catch another.

Five minutes later Nanna caught her first fish after having lost two pieces of bait, it was a yellow minnow, slightly shorter than the loach Loki caught but a lot fatter.

"This will make a tasty snack but hardly enough for dinner." She quickly transported the fish to her bucket before continuing her venture.
