Chapter 307: Chapter 259: Is There Anything Else You Want to Tell Me?

After Yu Dong drove Yin Shuangyang back to their base at the large industrial park, Yin Shuangyang’s private medical team was already on standby.

They skillfully moved Yin Shuangyang onto a medical bed, immediately starting an IV drip and administering vial after vial of medication.

They hooked him up to an array of vital sign monitors, covering his body with sensors.

As the medication took effect, Yin Shuangyang’s heartbeat gradually stabilized, the cold sweat on his face disappeared, and his breathing was no longer ragged.

Thanks to the medical team’s concerted efforts, Yin Shuangyang slowly came around and looked up at Yu Dong.

"Heh... It’s nothing. Looks worse than it is. One night on the drip and I’ll be fine. It won’t delay our plans for tomorrow..."

Before Yu Dong could speak, a woman’s soft, gentle voice came from behind him.

"Shuangyang... how could you drink again? Your stomach is in no condition for it... It must hurt terribly, doesn’t it?"

Yu Dong turned his head and saw a lavishly dressed middle-aged woman holding the hand of a little boy who looked to be about three or four years old.

Yu Dong’s first impression was that the woman... was a bit old. ’And to be honest... her looks could only be described as plain.’

’Those designer clothes would be dazzling on a model or a celebrity, but on her, they just looked... alright.’

’Maybe it’s because Yin Shuangyang’s massive secretarial department is filled with so many beautiful women that I’ve gotten face-blind these past few days. This woman actually felt... down-to-earth.’

It was like falling from Yin Shuangyang’s gilded, decadent castle back down to the ground.

"It’s nothing. How bad can it be? When I was young, I was slashed three times in a street fight—cut right to the bone. You dragged me all the way to the hospital, and I never cried out in pain once. What’s a little stomach ache compared to that?"

The little boy wriggled free from his mother’s hand and ran straight to Yin Shuangyang’s side. Seeing his father hooked up to an IV, he didn’t look sad in the slightest. Instead, his face lit up with excitement as he shook his father’s arm.

"Daddy, Daddy! You can’t move, so does that mean you can play with me tonight?"

Yin Shuangyang’s right arm, the one without the IV, tensed. With a slight bulge of his muscles, he lifted the little boy onto his lap and wrapped his arm around him.

"That’s right, Xiao Hao. Daddy will play Pictionary with you tonight, how about that?"

"No, no! I want to build a castle with the magnetic tiles today."

"Alright, a castle it is, hahaha! Come, this is Uncle Yu Dong. Say hi to Uncle Yu."

The little boy looked at Yu Dong politely and called out in a bright, clear voice, "Hi, Uncle Yu!"

"Ah... hello."

"Brother Yu, I have to thank you again... If you hadn’t told me when the virus would break out, my wife and son would be out of town tomorrow. If that happened, even if I didn’t turn into a zombie, I’d probably go mad with worry... My parents died young. Besides my sworn brothers, they’re all I have in this world."

At this, Yin Shuangyang ruffled his son’s hair. "Tomorrow is a complete unknown, but I hope luck is on their side... You should go get some rest. I’m going to play with Xiao Hao for a bit. It’s been too long since I’ve had time for him."

"Mmm..."

Yu Dong watched the happy family enjoying their last few moments of peace and safety. After a moment of silence, he slowly turned and left.

Everything about tonight had made him deeply uncomfortable, and the agitation in his heart had reached its peak.

...

「September 28th, Sunday. Only half a day remaining before the zombie virus outbreak.」

7:00 AM.

A fully recovered Yin Shuangyang was in an open area of the industrial park, practicing his boxing on a striking post.

His body was a mass of solid muscle, and his punches whistled with power. A circle of his men, all dressed in black suits, stood watching nearby.

Last night’s bout of sickness and his gentle demeanor seemed like an illusion. In this moment, Yin Shuangyang was like a powerful alpha wolf, displaying his strength for his pack.

Yu Dong observed Yin Shuangyang’s movements. They were incredibly professional, his footwork nimble and precise—undoubtedly the result of long-term training.

Yin Shuangyang had held a position of power for many years and hadn’t needed to fight himself, yet he still maintained such a powerful physique. Yu Dong couldn’t help but admire his willpower.

This went beyond simple "persistence."

This was the discipline of a man who was always prepared for a fight.

As Yin Shuangyang finished his routine, Yu Dong thought, ’If we fought bare-handed, I would absolutely lose.’

’But give me a staff, and I could win.’

’In my past life, I’d trained with a long spear under Yu Chengfei for over four months, gaining a ton of real combat experience. That, combined with my solo spear practice from two previous lives...’

’Even though he couldn’t bring back the muscle he’d built after the apocalypse, the experience was etched into his mind.’

"Whew... Brother Yu, did you rest well last night?"

Yin Shuangyang finished his workout, tossed his boxing gloves to one of his men, and walked over to Yu Dong.

"Very well, thank you. President Yin, are you feeling alright? You were up late with your son... Shouldn’t you be getting more rest?"

"Heh. Just my stomach acting up. No big deal. I’m much better after the medication. Oh, by the way, the doctor gave me a booster shot this morning. It works wonders. Want one?"

Yu Dong frowned instinctively. "I’ll pass... A cup of coffee will be fine for me."

Yin Shuangyang snapped his fingers. One of his men went into a room nearby and returned a moment later with an iced Americano for Yu Dong.

"I know you like coffee, so I had my guys bring in two German coffee machines. The beans are... Panamanian, I think? I don’t know a thing about it, but I had them stock up on a ton of it. You can drink your fill after the apocalypse begins. There’s so much you won’t be able to finish it before it goes bad, haha!"

Yu Dong held the freshly brewed coffee, inhaling the rich aroma of the expensive beans, but it brought him no comfort. He felt none of his usual urge to savor the drink.

He downed the coffee in a few large gulps.
