Edge of the Apocalypse
Chapter 327 - 264: Team Composition
Chapter 327: Chapter 264: Team Composition
’With so many beautiful women, surely I’ll get one, right?’
’I’ve got to perform well so Brother Dong will look out for me!’
’Damn, I’m so lucky. I followed the right person in my last life! Otherwise, who knows when I would’ve stopped being single!’
These soft-skinned, unarmored zombies were even easier to deal with, and the students gradually began to adapt to the rhythm of killing them.
They were throwing up far less.
Yu Dong did a quick count. Twenty-two female secretaries had survived.
Because they were so attractive, it wasn’t just Liang Mian who was drooling; many of the male university students couldn’t stop staring either.
’How should I deal with... these people?’
Yu Dong had shot Yin Shuangyang’s lackey without a second thought, preventing any potential revenge plots in the early days of the apocalypse. But these women?
Yin Shuangyang had recruited them as part of a collection... Some were gifts he used to bribe high-ranking officials. They were his tools, not his subordinates.
His own personal head secretary, the one who had actually worked for him, had already turned into a zombie...
’What are they thinking? Could any of them be die-hard loyalists to Yin Shuangyang? What should I do with them?’
Yu Dong felt a headache coming on...
"Leave them to me. I’ll give them a psychological evaluation, and we’ll go from there."
Lin Mo clapped a hand on Yu Dong’s shoulder, taking this difficult decision off his plate.
Yu Dong breathed a sigh of relief. "All right, I’ll leave them to you."
A group of electrical engineers had also been held here. After Yu Dong dealt with the zombies, nine of them remained.
"You’re all very lucky. Because your skills are so important, I prioritized your rescue. You’re to stay here and work for this base. I will do my best to meet any of your needs."
"If any of your family members are still alive, I will rescue them."
Yu Dong had no intention of letting these people leave.
Finally, there was the matter of Yin Shuangyang’s favorite Jinzhou barbecue. All ten of the barbecue chefs had turned into zombies.
Yu Dong looked over the ingredients for the skewers, as well as the two high-end German coffee machines and premium Panamanian coffee beans nearby.
He took some ice from the ice maker and added it to his cup with some purified water.
He ground the beans, tamped the grounds, and started the extraction.
The brown coffee liquid flowed slowly from the machine, its thick crema releasing the aroma of the premium beans. Yu Dong took the iced Americano he had just made.
He slowly sat down in a nearby lounge chair and raised his cup in a toast to the empty air.
"President Yin, my people are having your barbecue."
With that, the entire industrial park base was cleared. All the resources Yin Shuangyang had stockpiled here now belonged to Yu Dong’s team.
Afterward, Yu Dong received a series of calls from Wang Dingbei, Fan Zhenyu, Zhang Yihuai, and Song Jinchuan.
Wang Dingbei had taken the cruise ship, saving 590 people.
Fan Zhenyu and his team were fighting zombies in the streets, covering the retreat for a large number of people. After resting tonight, they would continue pushing outward tomorrow. They planned to completely clear out the residential complexes around their club, estimating they would rescue over 500 people.
Zhang Yihuai, working quietly, had secured a staggering 1,009 survivors right from the start!
While others were trying to disperse the crowds, he had done the opposite, luring everyone together. He then used a maze to separate the living from the zombies, rescuing a massive number of people and achieving the highest rescue count in the initial stage of the apocalypse.
He was the MVP of this phase of the apocalypse rescue operation!
Of course, his Olympic Sports Center was now completely surrounded by zombies. He said he had prepared some traps at the "death gates" and would open five of them tomorrow during the day to wipe out the zombies.
Yu Dong felt... he still knew far too little about Zhang Yihuai.
Song Jinchuan’s team was small, and they were currently sailing Zou Long’s cargo ship—fully loaded with guns and ammunition—back to the Shanship Heavy Industry port.
Their pre-apocalypse preparations were now fully in motion.
None of them had disappointed Yu Dong.
Except for Zhang Wei.
Watching Zhang Wei eat barbecue and play on his phone with everyone else as if he didn’t have a care in the world, Yu Dong’s eyes narrowed. He put down his coffee and said,
"Zhang Wei, is there something you want to say to me?"
Seeing his boss question him, Zhang Wei stuffed the skewer he was holding into his mouth.
"Boss, I was just about to find you. Take a look at this video I just shot..."
Yu Dong gave Zhang Wei’s phone a confused look. He saw that it contained recordings of his own actions and speeches, all filmed very well and in high definition.
"Why are you filming me?"
"To create a historical record! In the future, when Yanhai City is pacified and order is restored, all the survivors will need to know how it happened, right?"
Zhang Wei, as if he had prepared for this moment, launched into a torrent of words.
"Why were the zombies in our Yanhai City wiped out? When did it all begin? Don’t the children of the future deserve to know who brought them this safe environment? Someone has to document all of this!"
"I studied photography for several years. I took candid photos and videos of celebrities, I was a contributor to all the major paparazzi papers. Here, look at my work."
His phone was filled with candid photos, including quite a few that Yu Dong recognized from the internet.
"I hope that in the days to come, I can witness the actions of you and your team, record every historic moment, and let future generations know what happened during this time and who was the one to bring us peace!"
Yu Dong: "...?"
In that moment, Yu Dong finally understood why, in his past life, Huang had been so insistent on bringing Zhang Wei along.
He was still holding Zhang Wei’s phone and saw the last photo that had been taken. It was of Lin Zhixue getting off the cruise ship...
He suddenly wondered, why hadn’t Lin Zhixue called him yet? It had been a while.
She was the only one left.
