Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 128 Even if there were, Artoria could handle it
“Yes,” Mia nodded, “You’ve eliminated a group of heinous villains.”
Artoria silently scanned the severed limbs and broken arms on the battlefield.
She looked at Mia, then at the sword in her hand.
“Thank you, Miss Mia. If it weren’t for you, I really wouldn’t know what to do…”
Mia nodded. “Could I trouble you to go check inside the house?”
Better to let her stay away for a bit and process the feelings of her first battle.
With such a big commotion just now and no one coming out, there probably wasn’t anyone inside.
Even if there were, Artoria could handle it.
“I understand!” Artoria nodded and walked towards the wooden house.
Then,
“Um…” Kay suddenly raised his hand. “I’ll… be right back!”
Mia noticed.
After the adrenaline faded, this guy’s face began to turn pale.
He was desperately holding something back.
After saying that, he dashed towards the nearby bushes.
“Blargh—”
An ungraceful sound could be heard faintly.
Ah, Mia suddenly smiled.
Both Artoria and Kay seemed ill at ease.
It was as if she had become the elder.
Later, she would have to find a chance to coax them into calling her ‘Big Sister’.
Mia looked at the Raiders’ corpses with no internal fluctuation; having been tempered by The Lands Between, her heart was long since untroubled.
It wasn’t like she hadn’t seen corpses before; there were even times when her own corpse looked worse than this.
Shaking her head, she hadn’t forgotten that poor middle-aged man; she had to go treat him quickly.
Flicking the blood off her sword, Mia walked quickly towards the still-trembling middle-aged man.
He looked completely terrified; as soon as the ropes were cut, he collapsed to the ground.
“Are you okay?”
Mia knelt down.
Half the man’s face was stained red with blood; that axe had directly torn his ear.
The girl heard the words muttered from his trembling lips.
“Oh God… Oh God…”
The over-frightened man kept repeating.
‘God?’ Mia frowned.
She leaned down, supporting his head with her right hand; a golden light appeared from her hand, enveloping the man’s mangled ear.
“I am an angel. You have been saved. I will take away your pain.”
Mia comforted him gently.
“It hurts… it hurts… it hurts…” The man kept muttering, and then, he really realized that his ear no longer hurt.
His violently shaking body gradually calmed down.
“You, you are an angel?!” He tightly grabbed Mia’s arm.
Seeing the man was a bit more lucid, Mia stopped using faith to deceive him. “My name is Mia, I am a traveler.”
“Mi… Mi…” The man murmured, “Michael?”
Good grief, you only heard the first letter, didn’t you?
A cross-shaped vein appeared on Mia’s forehead.
She slapped the man’s cheek firmly. “My name is Mia! It’s over now, you’re alive! The Anglo-Saxons are dead!”
“Ah, oh!”
The man nodded blankly.
“Hey, what’s your name?” Mia asked loudly.
“Isdis! My name is Isdis!” The man responded loudly as well.
His voice was so loud it was almost a howl.
This could be considered a sign of returning vitality.
“Mhm,” Mia nodded with satisfaction, “Are you from around here?”
“No,” Isdis shook his head, “I was just staying here for the night…”
Just after speaking, he suddenly paused, then let out a sob as tears began to flow.
“Poor Mr. Bree and his family, they were all killed… the Anglo-Saxons, those Anglo-Saxons, they…”
“Ah!”
Suddenly, a scream from Artoria came from the direction of the main house.
“Stay here!”
Mia said to Isdis, stood up instantly, and ran toward the house.
She burst through the open door: “Artoria?!”
“Over here!”
Artoria’s voice came from behind the house, and Mia hurried through the back door.
Behind the house was the farm’s pigsty; of course, there were no animals left now.
Artoria stood there, covering her mouth, tears uncontrollably dripping from the corners of her eyes.
Seeing Mia arrive, her finger pointed tremblingly into the pigsty.
It had originally been covered by a straw mat; beneath the pulled-aside mat, a tragic, tiny body was revealed.
It was the mangled remains of a girl even younger than Artoria, discarded like a broken doll in the muddy water of the pigsty mixed with manure.
Her fingers were broken, her eyes gouged out, and she was even missing a foot.
With not a single patch of intact skin, mangled internal organs spilled from her lower body.
“Artoria, what’s—”
Kay had also arrived.
He saw the remains as well.
His face changed instantly.
“Ugh—bleh—”
He leaned over and vomited up stomach acid.
“Don’t look.”
Mia pulled Artoria over and held her in her arms.
Flames—
Bright fire erupted from her hand, shielding the evil in the muddy water from view.
“I’m sorry,” Mia whispered self-reproachfully into Artoria’s ear.
She had intended to keep Artoria away from the battlefield, never expecting her to witness such a scene.
This sight…
Mia took a breath.
The smell of charring masked the stench and the scent of blood.
Even her fingers felt a sense of numbness.
Artoria was clearly crying, her shoulders twitching.
She truly felt empathy from those remains.
Mia’s jaw also trembled uncontrollably as she gently patted Artoria’s back.
“Miss Mia…”
Artoria was as tall as Mia.
So, she leaned against Mia’s neck, sobbing.
“That child, that child, she…”
“Those demons are already dead, Artoria. You have already avenged them.”
“…Mm.”
Artoria responded.
Mia stroked her head.
She was just a fifteen-year-old child, after all.
Perhaps she was very precocious among her peers.
But in the end, she was only at the age of a middle school student.
Mia gazed at the piercing firelight before her.
‘When I was fifteen, what was I doing?’
‘…’
The answer was self-evident.
Therefore.
‘Anime plots with underage protagonists should just be destroyed.’
Mia leaned closer to Artoria’s ear, her warm breath brushing against the girl’s skin.
A few drops of sweat were trickling down the back of her neck.
“If you can, call me Big Sister Mia.”
