Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister

Ch. 57 Miranda Flower inhabited these ruins.

How should one describe this creature?

It looked like a soft cactus topped with a huge pink flower. It sounded like a plant, but it possessed roots as flexible as octopus tentacles, allowing them to move on the ground.

Mia didn’t know how this creature perceived its surroundings, but as soon as she entered the ruins, the Miranda Flower she could see extended their tentacles and crawled toward her like tentacle monsters seeing a magical girl.

No, it shouldn’t be ‘like’; they really were tentacle monsters seeing a magical girl!

Mia stepped back vigilantly, then, without a shred of pity, unleashed flames upon the monsters that were about her height.

The raging flames rushed toward the Miranda Flower on the street.

In an instant, the high heat scorched the petals, which were larger than a human face, and the flames spread across the ground.

In the scorching heat, those evil plants writhed frantically.

But their water-filled bodies didn’t catch fire immediately; under the high-temperature roasting, white smoke rose from the flowers.

And there was a pungent odor.

The Miranda Flower writhed frantically in the flames, waving their roots like live octopuses on a hot plate, which gave Mia the creeps.

Even though the flames had reached their bodies, they were still struggling.

The vitality of plants is much more tenacious than that of animals.

It is difficult for humans to define the death of a plant. When a tree is cut down, does it die immediately? Its root system is still absorbing nutrients, and the trunk is still conducting biological materials. Which organ of a plant determines the moment of its death?

Do plants have a moment of death?

In the end, those Miranda Flower turned into a pile of indistinguishable burning matter on the ground.

Mia was shocked to realize she had actually felt a trace of pity…

No, the temperature of the flames needs to be higher. A beautiful girl has a kind heart and cannot bear to see flowers suffer.

Thinking this, Mia immediately put in more effort, exerting all her strength to continuously release flames toward the street in front of her.

The flowers she burned were not all of them.

On the ground of Waystation Street, there was still a huge Miranda Flower; what Mia had encountered now were just seedlings of the Miranda Flower.

Meanwhile, outside the Waystation Street.

Waiting honestly for the two who had gone in to adventure, Kalé looked at the white smoke drifting over the ruins and yawned out of boredom.

He glanced at Patches, who was sitting honestly among the three wolves.

Probably thinking about how to escape, right?

Must not let his guard down.

If Patches knew Kalé’s thoughts, he would probably cry out that he was wronged, because he wasn’t thinking about how to escape.

Instead, he was hoping that Mia and Wilden would hurry up and die in those ruins.

Suddenly, one of the Spirit Wolves that had been sitting honestly stood up.

It let out a low growl that only happened when facing danger.

But the only Soldier or thing in front of it was Patches.

“What are you acting crazy for again…” Patches was no longer afraid at all.

A clear conscience fears no shadows; can’t I even curse others to die in my own mind?

Then, he saw a white speck of light suddenly appear before his eyes.

This was just the beginning; immediately after, a patch of white light specks emerged from the ground.

Patches looked left and right in confusion; the surroundings were full of those rising white light specks.

The light specks enveloped Patches, Kalé, and the Spirit Wolves.

“Hmm?” Kalé looked around, pondering suspiciously; these light specks reminded him of Mia’s Prayer.

But clearly, Mia was not nearby.

What’s going on?

Lappland tilted her head, looking at the light specks, and reached out a paw to scratch at them…

Texas barked, and Lappland immediately tucked her tail and ran out of the clearing shrouded in the strange light specks.

The Spirit Wolf barked anxiously at Patches and Kalé, who had not yet moved.

Watching this scene, a chill shot directly from Patches’ tailbone to the top of his head.

“Run!” he shouted.

He immediately rolled to the side.

Kalé was also startled; clearly, the wandering merchant’s sixth sense, which had helped him escape countless dangers, had kicked in.

He also scrambled to dodge to the side immediately.

The next instant, a curtain of light descended from the sky.

The curtain of light, like meteors, covered the place where the two had been sitting like raindrops. The light was like knives falling from the sky. Kalé watched in terror as the weeds on the path were cut into thousands of pieces under the Rain of Light.

If it hadn’t been for Patches’ warning, he would have been pierced by ten thousand arrows long ago.

Cold sweat soaked Kalé’s back.

What is this?!

Kalé suddenly thought of the Miranda Flower in the ruins, and a piece of intelligence from a long-forgotten memory surfaced in his mind.

‘Huge Miranda Flower, a terrifying flower that eats people, can release poisonous pollen, and summon a Rain of Light.’

There is a huge Miranda Flower in those ruins?!

After that round of Rain of Light, the huge Miranda Flower, whose true form no one had yet seen, seemed not to pay any more attention to him and Patches.

But does Mia know about this?

Kalé couldn’t help but worry.

“Mia!” he shouted toward the ruins, “Watch out for the huge Miranda Flower!”

He didn’t know if they could hear him.

While struggling with whether or not to enter the ruins, Kalé glanced inadvertently, which once again filled his heart with horror.

Patches was gone!

Even the three Spirit Wolves were gone!
