Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister

Ch. 72 After the decision for a farewell feast was made

  • Next Chapter

After the decision for a farewell feast was made, Kalé specifically instructed the Spirit Wolves to catch a fat ewe.

Mia had to follow behind the Spirit Wolves on Torrent.

Because once they successfully killed the prey, they couldn’t quickly transport the sheep back.

They had to rely on Torrent.

When Mia returned to camp with the prey, Kalé skillfully began processing it.

Before dark, the plump ewe was already over the fire.

That was no ordinary fire.

It was a fire Mia was controlling with precise temperature.

With the same focus she used for researching magic, she carefully manipulated the flames surrounding the whole sheep.

She watched as the sheep slowly roasted, its skin gradually turning golden and crispy under the high heat.

Mia would stop from time to time to let Kalé sprinkle the roasted sheep with the precious spices he had been saving for a long time.

Mia’s precise control of the flames ensured that the skin didn’t char while keeping the innermost meat tender and juicy…

It was almost ready.

Kalé suddenly remembered something. “How can we eat meat without wine?”

As he spoke, he rummaged through his luggage and pulled out a small wooden keg the size of a human head from a pile of goods for sale.

And at a time like this, Mia couldn’t forget the other person.

“Mei Mei!” Mia stood up and shouted.

“Mei Mei! Melina! Dinner’s ready!”

“Please do not call me that in public.”

Melina, who hadn’t appeared for a long time, sighed helplessly and appeared beside Mia.

But her face still bore that same calm, unruffled expression.

“I’m calling you to eat. It’s been a while since we last saw each other,” Mia waved her hand.

“Actually, I have been by your side all along,” Melina stood next to Mia.

Mia curled her lip.

Indeed, Melina had always been by her side.

Whether she was bathing, sleeping, or attending lessons with Master Sellen, Melina was always there.

Their thoughts, and even their senses, were partially connected.

Even without many words, they were closely linked like a flower and its leaves.

But as long as Mia didn’t actively call her, Melina wouldn’t show herself or speak.

Mia didn’t like this “familiar stranger” feeling.

If possible, she still wanted to get closer to this unique, self-proclaimed sister…

Melina’s nostrils twitched slightly, and she naturally looked at the sheep on the bonfire. “And I do not need to… eat.”

Mia looked at her sideways with a knowing look.

That look clearly said, ‘You’re interested in the roast meat, aren’t you?’

The girl withdrew the flames and leaned down to sniff the sheep; the roast meat emitted a mouth-watering aroma.

*Pop—*

Kalé pried open the stopper of the small wine keg.

“Is it ready? Is it ready?!”

Patches, noticing Mia had stopped, was the first to crowd in.

Slicing into the thickest part of the leg with a knife, he could see it was perfectly cooked.

“Let’s eat!” With his hand wrapped in a cloth, Patches reached out and tore off the largest piece of meat from the leg.

Veins popped on Kalé’s forehead. “You scoundrel!”

“Come and eat too! Or it’ll all be snatched away.”

Mia waved to Kalé, who was holding the wine keg and still looking for cups.

“And Wilden! Come over here!”

“Just a moment,” Kalé replied.

Wilden walked over, took off his gear, and sat down opposite Mia.

“Here, help yourself,” Mia said casually.

Compared to Patches, the beautiful girl’s eating manner was quite refined.

She cut the meat with a knife, piled it in a bowl, and then used a fork to bring it to her mouth.

The fresh and tender meat retained its original flavor and chewiness.

Melina glanced slightly, watching Mia’s soft, white cheeks as they moved.

“Mei Mei! Try some.”

Mia handed the meat to Melina.

For Melina, this was truly a rare occurrence.

“I do not need to eat…” Melina looked at the bowl of meat.

The aroma of the meat wafted out, quietly entering Melina’s nostrils and lingering in her mind.

*Gulp…*

Mia keenly noticed that the muscles in Melina’s throat moved.

“Come on!” Mia urged.

Melina furrowed her beautiful brows.

Mia’s attention was completely captivated by this rare expression.

What did this frown represent?

No matter what it meant, today she had to let Mei Mei taste the skill of her so-called older sister.

For such a mysterious reason, Mia made a vow in her heart.

She picked up a piece of meat with her fork and held it to Melina’s lips.

“Please let me do it myself…”

Mia’s hand only nudged forward a bit, showing no sign of giving up; instead, she was urging her.

Melina sighed, then obediently opened her mouth and took the piece of meat.

The moment the food entered her mouth, the pupil of Melina’s open right eye constricted slightly.

This was a taste she had never experienced before.

As she chewed, the aroma of the meat suddenly dissolved in her mouth.

But being fed like this was truly uncomfortable.

But the Soldier was… her…

Why didn’t she refuse or push her away? Instead, she had performed such an action as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Even though she rarely spoke and only appeared at necessary moments, theoretically, the relationship between her and Mia shouldn’t be much better than that of strangers.

If there were such an overstepping of boundaries between strangers, a conflict would surely break out.

‘Is it because I have actually been watching her all this time?’

Whether sleeping, walking, in class, bathing, or eating, Melina was watching Mia every moment, right by Mia’s side.

No matter what she did, Melina accompanied her silently.

Perhaps some kind of emotion was destined to sprout from the first time the two met, when Melina decided to attach herself to her.

“How is it?” Mia looked at her with a smile.

“It tastes very good,” Melina replied.

Because she had never tasted it before, it was hard to describe, so she could only say “very good” in the end.

“Ah~” Mia picked up another piece of meat and held it to Melina’s lips.

“I can do it myself…”

“I’m the big sister, so be good!”

Mia interrupted quite unreasonably.

“…” An indescribable emotion surfaced in Melina’s heart once again.

It was not a negative emotion.

But looking at Mia before her, Melina felt a bit of unease and a bit of expectation.

Whether it was the roasted meat or being hand-fed, these were both “tastes” Melina was experiencing for the first time.
