Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1627 - 1669: Not Wanting to Sleep Alone
Levi closed his eyes, feeling a pair of hands applying shampoo onto his hair. Those hands were gently massaging, completely different from his mom’s.
At least in his memory, his mother had never washed his hair like this.
And surprisingly, he seemed to really enjoy this feeling.
After the bath, when Mabel Quinn led Levi out of the bathroom, Levi’s little cheeks were flushing red. Harper Kinston came close to Levi, sniffing like a little puppy for a while, then exclaimed, "Smells nice, just like Nana!"
Immediately, Levi’s cheeks turned even redder, but he didn’t push Harper away, letting her stay by his side instead.
Mabel smiled as she dried the hair of the two children. After Kyle Kinston returned to the room, she handed her daughter over to him, then took Levi to the room prepared for him, coaxing him to sleep.
Getting Levi to sleep wasn’t as difficult as it was with her own daughter. Mabel didn’t even need to tell him a bedtime story. As soon as she said goodnight, he climbed into bed and closed his eyes, looking ready to sleep.
Such a child was really easy to take care of, but inexplicably, it gave Mabel a sense of heartache. Levi’s unique personality, his quietness, and even his aloofness, unlike other children who would act spoiled, were all related to his past experiences.
For a child so young to lose his mother and then spend some time in the orphanage, one can only fear that the emotional trauma will take a long time to heal.
Mabel lingered by the bed for a while, watching Levi as if he had really fallen asleep, then she stood up, turned off the light, and gently left the room.
She thought the night would pass like this, but unexpectedly, around eleven at night, she went to check Levi’s room before bed to see if he had kicked off the covers, and upon opening the door, she found his small body curled up against her bedroom door.
Mabel was startled, "Levi, weren’t you asleep? How come you’re at the door? Are you hungry, or what’s the matter? Why didn’t you knock?" she asked, but Levi just looked at her with his beautiful eyes, not saying a word.
Mabel thought for a moment, guessing, "Do you not want to sleep alone?"
He continued to look at her without answering, but those eyelashes, like small fans, fluttered slightly as if he was nervous.
Seeing this, even if he didn’t speak, Mabel understood. The child didn’t want to sleep in a room alone.
So she smiled, "Then come in, and sleep with Nana, okay?" Although she prepared a separate room for her daughter, there was still a little bed in their room for the little ones.
The small bed would be cramped for an adult and a child but was just right for two children.
Levi’s eyes seemed to light up, and Mabel led him into the room, placing him on her daughter’s little bed.
By now, her daughter was already asleep. Levi seemed to notice this and moved extra quietly, extra carefully, as if he was afraid of waking her.
After lying down, a hint of hesitation seemed to flash across Levi’s small face, and then he lightly stretched out his hand, placing it gently on the hand Harper had resting by her cheek.
