Ember Dragon
Chapter 759 Reinforcements Break In
The Fallen Elves looked up as well, noticing the anomaly in the sky and breaking into an uproar.
"Look, it’s a dragon!"
"A dragon!"
"By the Mother Goddess, that’s a Gold Dragon! Is it an enemy or an ally?"
"We’re the Blades of the Holy Court, the chosen of the Goddess of Moonlight and Darkness, a holy army here to punish the rebels. It must be here to aid us!"
As they argued, the Gold Dragon let out a roar, spread its wings, opened its massive jaws, and dove down with a howling gale, a blazing light welling up from deep within its throat.
"No!"
"It’s coming for us! Damn golden-scaled lizard!"
Realizing the hostile intent, the Fallen Elves began cursing and spitting venomous hatred.
But the scorching gale swept the land and blew toward them.
"Boom——"
The sky echoed with the sound of air being torn apart, and a torrent of dragonfire burst from the Gold Dragon’s mouth like a waterfall, engulfing hundreds of Fallen Elves in a blazing inferno.
"Ahh! So hot! I’m burning all over!"
"No——"
"Damn lizard!"
"Gold Dragon! We are the Blades of the Holy Court! Why are you attacking us indiscriminately?!"
The Fallen Elves wailed in madness, hoarsely roaring, struggling futilely within the sea of fire.
Their skin charred and cracked with loud snaps, revealing grotesque half-spider forms beneath their elven skin.
These spider-hybrid monsters shrieked, scrambling away from the flames on their long, sharp legs.
But their bodies were ablaze with dragonfire, and not even rolling on the ground could extinguish it. They could only curl up and turn into blackened corpses.
"Kill that lizard! Shoot it down!"
"Loose the arrows!"
"Kill it at all costs! We cannot let the rebels escape!"
Serian struck his staff on the ground repeatedly, his expression dark and voice filled with fury.
The Fallen Elves drew their bows, aiming at the Gold Dragon in the sky, and loosed poisoned arrows with sharp whistles.
The elven mages raised their staves, firing beams of black energy at the dragon’s underbelly.
But the Ancient Gold Dragon raised its head and howled, unfurled its wings, and became enveloped in draconic flames, forming a violent firestorm that devoured all the arrows and spells.
"Fallen ones who consort with the Abyss, beings twisted by darkness — I shall bury you in flames!"
Titus snorted coldly, a brilliant blaze flashing in his golden eyes.
In an instant, countless meteors fell from the sky, trailing radiant fire, slamming into the Fallen Elf army and unleashing massive explosions.
Witnessing the overwhelming display, Catherine beamed with joy and respectfully said, "Lord Titus, thank you for your assistance."
"As expected of the legendary Wing of Dawn, your power is awe-inspiring."
In the distance, Rhea beheaded a Fallen Elf, then turned to nod toward the Ancient Gold Dragon.
Titus flapped his massive wings, hovering like a guardian above the battlefield, and bowed his head solemnly. "Your Majesty Catherine, you flatter me."
"Upholding justice and banishing evil is the duty of us Metallic Dragons. I would have come regardless—especially since you personally invited me."
Catherine raised her staff, casting gentle light onto the Gold Dragon. Smiling, she said, "Lord Titus, your noble heart fills me with admiration."
"That’s the legendary Dawn Dragon Titus! No wonder its dragonfire is so terrifying."
"What a powerful Gold Dragon!"
"Amazing! He’s on our side! With such a mighty ally, we’ll definitely retake the Sacred Tree!"
With the Gold Dragon’s arrival, the morale of the Silvermoon Followers and Harpist Alliance troops soared. They raised their weapons and charged toward the enemy driven back by dragonfire.
Fallen Elf Elder Serian’s face was clouded with gloom. He growled, "Keep attacking! Do not fear! The great Mother Goddess watches over you!"
"Remember, we are the true heirs of Serenia, and we far outnumber them. These rebels can never defeat us!"
"Victory!"
"For the Mother Goddess!"
The Fallen Elves roared with madness, launching desperate charges through arrows and fire, even transforming into twisted spider abominations.
Serian narrowed his eyes and raised his staff, which pulsed with a strong aura of corruption, making space tremble.
"Great Mother Goddess, I beseech you to send your noble emissary..." he whispered.
A screech like rusted metal scraping filled the air above.
"Shriiip——"
A rift tore through space, punctured by sharp limbs, and toxic mist poured out.
Then, a grotesque, colossal spider monster crawled out. It had hundreds of crimson eyes and legs nearly twenty meters long.
"Praise the Mother Goddess!!"
Serian spread his arms as if embracing the world, madness gleaming on his scarred face.
"Filthy creature—" The Gold Dragon roared in fury, unleashing a pillar of fire at the massive spider.
But the spider’s eyes glowed with eerie red light, firing hundreds of corrupt beams that clashed with the Ancient Gold Dragon’s fire.
Titus raised his head and let out a long howl, then ascended hundreds of meters, dove at the spider, and slashed with his claws to flatten it.
But the giant spider moved with impossible speed, dodged easily with its eight limbs, and spat corrosive venom that melted the scales on the Gold Dragon’s flank.
Titus roared, spun, and lashed out with his tail, sending the spider tumbling and crushing many unlucky Fallen Elves.
But the spider quickly got up and shot sticky webs from its fanged maw, entangling the dragon’s wings.
Titus flew into a rage, tore off the webs, and charged the spider. The two colossal beasts clashed in brutal melee combat.
A Fallen Elf officer roared, brandishing his saber: "Quick! The Gold Dragon is occupied! Charge in and take the rebel leader’s head!"
The Fallen Elves swarmed forward, charging at Catherine. Neither Rhea’s light-blade slashes nor Melisandre’s arrows could stop them.
Rhea slashed through a dozen Fallen Elves and dashed toward Catherine.
But Serian and several mages raised their staves and chanted ancient spells. Dark brambles rose from the ground, shrouded in thick black mist, trapping Rhea.
Some Fallen Elves made it within a hundred meters of Catherine, throwing poisoned spears with crazed expressions.
"Quick! Protect Her Majesty!"
The Silvermoon Followers raised their shields and rushed to shield Catherine from the onslaught.
Calm and steady on her unicorn mount, Catherine’s staff radiated soft light, healing wounds and boosting morale.
But just then, a squad of Fallen Elves ambushed from behind, riding shadow-hopping, black displacement beasts, slaying several Silvermoon Followers and charging Catherine.
"Rebels! Die!"
"Woooo—"
A horn sounded. Space rippled, and a massive portal opened behind Catherine.
Dwarven cavalry, clad in heavy armor and riding massive rams, surged forth from the portal with thunderous roars.
The Dwarves thundered across the field like an iron tide, shaking the earth and trampling the Fallen Elves.
"Hahaha! Your Majesty Catherine! The Mountain Dwarf Kingdom has come to aid you!"
Leading them, Zain laughed boldly and crushed a Fallen Elf’s head with his warhammer.
"Crush these abyssal bastards!"
The ram-riding Dwarves charged with devastating force, turning the Fallen Elves into bloody mush.
"Hahahaha!"
"Haven’t had such a satisfying battle in ages!"
Three thousand Shield Dwarves surged into battle, swinging hammers and axes, roaring as they fought the Fallen Elves.
It was as if they were venting all their grief and fury at losing their homeland.
Catherine smiled at Zain, "You must be the new Mountain King—His Majesty Zain. I’ve heard of you from Rhea. You truly embody the spirit of King Ed."
"But I must apologize as Queen of Serenia. We failed to aid Avenderdan during its darkest hour."
"That wasn’t your fault," Zain said solemnly. "The Holy Alliance between Serenia and the Mountain Kingdom stands strong. We still count on your help to reclaim Avenderdan!"
"Of course, Your Majesty Zain. If I rule Serenia, I will give my all to support you."
Serian’s voice trembled with fury. "Catherine, you’ve allied with those Dwarves?! You truly are an unforgivable traitor!!"
Catherine said coldly, "The Silvermoon Elves and Dwarves were allies for millennia. You Fallen ones abandoned everything!"
She raised her staff. "Attack! For the radiant future of Serenia! For the honor of the Silvermoon Elves!"
With the Shield Dwarves’ arrival, the tide of war turned. Under the might of the ’Holy Coalition,’ the Fallen Elves retreated in defeat.
More portals opened—wizards from the Arcane Hermitage, celestial legions from Mount Heaven, and rangers of the Harpist Alliance all entered the battle.
Magic lights interwove, divine light rained down, and battle cries echoed to the skies.
The Ancient Gold Dragon scorched the giant spider, broke free from its webs, and soared to unleash another sea of flames upon the Fallen Elf army.
Soon, the Fallen Elves were utterly routed, slaughtered and scattered.
"Damn outsiders!"
"Hahaha! Die! You’ll all die horribly! You cannot withstand the Mother Goddess’s wrath!!" Serian screamed, raising his staff, his voice hysterical.
"Pitiful cultist." Titus lunged forward and shattered the black shield with a single claw.
Serian’s face twisted, eyes bloodshot. "Lizard, you too... none of you will escape. You all—"
"Smack!"
The Ancient Gold Dragon smashed the elven elder into pulp, flicked the blood off his claw, and grimaced. "Disgusting abyssal blood... Filthy."
In the blink of an eye, the battlefield was littered with spider-like corpses. The Fallen Elves were dead or fleeing, barely any remained.
"Blood sacrifice to the Mother Goddess!"
One deranged Fallen Elf charged Catherine, swinging his sword, ignoring the hundred fully armed guards beside the Elven Queen.
Rhea drew her bloody silver sword with a cold look, ready to strike, but Catherine stopped her and calmly said, "Leave him alive. I have questions."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Rhea moved behind the Fallen Elf, chopped him unconscious, and chained him up.
After a while, the Fallen Elf opened his eyes and, seeing Catherine, began thrashing and shouting, "Traitor! You’ll die horribly! Under the Mother Goddess’s light, you have nowhere to hide!"
Catherine remained calm and asked, "Fallen one, who exactly is your so-called ’Mother Goddess’?"
The Fallen Elf gave her a strange look and answered, "We are Silvermoon Elves. Of course we worship the great Lady Shahanni. You despicable traitor, don’t even remember that much?"
"You worship Shahanni too?"
Catherine frowned.
Shahanni was a powerful and kind deity—the Goddess of Moonlight, the beautiful silver-haired Lady, and the patron of the Silvermoon Elves. Known as the ’Mother of the Sacred Tree,’ nearly all Serenians were her followers.
Yet this evil presence before her also claimed to be a follower of Shahanni?
Hearing Catherine’s question, the Fallen Elf puffed up proudly, "Of course. A rebel like you would never understand!"
"I am the most loyal, most devout follower of the great Eight-Armed Mother, the Weaver of Chaos, Goddess of Moonlight and Night—Shahanni!"
"Eight-Armed Mother?"
Catherine frowned even deeper.
No... which Shahanni does this lunatic actually worship?
