Endless Debt
Chapter 1522 - 69: Boundary Between Reality and Illusion_3
"Ah... to be honest, I’ve long grown tired of you lot."
The Speaker tilted his head back, his gaze hollow as he looked at the curled-up silhouettes, "If it weren’t for maintaining the balance of the All Secrets Order, I really wouldn’t want to spend even a bit of resources on you useless people."
The Speaker laughed hoarsely, like a dreadful demon, incessantly muttering.
"Everyone is a resource... why can’t you be sacrifices?"
As soon as he finished speaking, bizarre screams erupted from the Crystal Beehive, and the curled-up figures struggled violently, as if the transparent gel that had been nurturing them all along suddenly turned into deadly corrosive acid eating away at their bodies.
Bologue could feel one Ether reaction after another rising within the Crystal Beehive. It seemed as if the Legislators were attempting to resist, but the climb in Ether only lasted for a few seconds before abruptly halting, and those violently writhing figures gradually fell silent, as if utterly dead.
A chilling cold swept through Bologue’s heart. He had known all along that the seemingly mysterious organizational structure of the All Secrets Order was, in essence, a bloody food chain. The Ancestral Council leeched blood from everyone, and the Speaker extracted blood from all the Legislators.
"It was I who constructed the Earthly Celestial Kingdom, I who created this eternal domain, and thus it should be I who becomes the one and only Ultimate Condenser."
The Speaker slowly raised his arm, and the silhouettes within the Crystal Beehive began to wither one by one, their bodies collapsing continuously until they turned into grotesque, appalling lumps of flesh, falling down from the Crystal Beehive like morbid fruits.
A dry cracking sound emanated from the Speaker’s body as the dried, shriveled Fantasy Species peeled off one by one, revealing gaping bloodless cavities. Then, the lumps of flesh that had fallen were stuffed into the vacant spaces, and after a sticky squelching sound, sorrowful human faces emerged from the lumps of flesh.
"Is this... the transformation ritual?"
Bologue recalled the words of Ossana, as well as his previous speculations.
The High Tier Condensers of the Dreamcast Family would eventually be transformed by the Ancestral Council into Fantasy Species, to sustain the existence of the Earthly Celestial Kingdom. In return, the Dreamcast Family would attain a highly special status within the Ancestral Council.
Initially, Bologue didn’t understand what was so special about the status, until he realized that the Speaker’s powers were purely Illusion Creation.
"No wonder you are tangled with the Night King; in essence, you are no different from the Night King."
Facing Bologue’s rebuke, the Speaker merely emitted his hollow laughter, then removed the desiccated Fantasy Species from his body and inserted new ones into himself.
Holt too noticed the anomaly in the situation at this moment. He understood that had he not become a Seeker of Glory, had Bologue not intervened, and had he fallen to the Speaker, he too would have been transformed into Fantasy Species, becoming a part of the Speaker’s body.
The Speaker spoke up, "I don’t understand, can you indeed be exempt from the resets brought by Time Reversal?"
While Bologue was probing the Speaker, wasn’t the Speaker also appraising Bologue, speculating about Bologue’s powers?
Seeing Bologue’s silence, the Speaker shook his head helplessly, "It’s truly surprising... all along, this power has been quite useful."
Without any warning, the Speaker charged directly at Holt, as if intending to fight to the death.
Bologue was also bewildered by the Speaker’s reaction, not understanding why this always-cautious fellow suddenly mustered the courage, then it dawned upon him.
"Holt! Withdraw over here to me!"
Bologue shouted anxiously, but it was too late; Holt had already collided with the Speaker.
Ripples of time released and spread.
In the blink of an eye, a brilliant light engulfed the Speaker and Holt, and Holt, momentarily dazzled by the light, immediately understood the Speaker’s intention.
Realizing Bologue’s uniqueness, the Speaker understood that no further results could be yielded during this Time Reversal. He proactively ended the current Time Reversal, then... then in the next Time Reversal, the Speaker would certainly launch a frenzied assault on Bologue, preventing Bologue from communicating and conveying important information regarding the time axis disorder.
Holt coldly laughed, "You cannot win."
Bologue is a troublesome fellow, not only possessing an independent time axis, but also being one of the Undead. To Holt, all of the Speaker’s efforts seemed like futile struggles.
The Speaker remained silent, a dreadful murderous intent pooling in his eyes. For the first time in years, he found himself being forced into such a predicament.
A semi-transparent ripple gradually enveloped Holt, but just as it was about to completely cover him, the space behind Holt began to distort, and a Curved Pathway Rift suddenly materialized.
A strong hand emerged from the Curved Pathway Rift, grabbing Holt by the collar, dragging him through the rift.
"No!"
The Speaker screamed but was helpless to stop it, only able to watch as Holt passed through the Curved Pathway Rift, reappearing before the door of the Nest Core.
Holt stood dumbfounded, overwhelmed by the myriad of drastic changes that had occurred in such a short amount of time, even he found it hard to process.
"Step back!"
Bologue’s voice rang out from the side, and Holt felt someone dragging his body, forcibly moving him back a few steps.
