Endless Debt

Chapter 1625 - 117: Darkness of Annihilation (3)

Bologue seemed to fall into darkness for only a few seconds, yet it was as if he had spent centuries here. Without external feedback, Bologue’s thoughts became an isolated island in the darkness, allowing himself to crumble through endless introspection.

"Shield cognition, blur senses... apply pressure on the mind..."

Even in such a situation, Bologue still remembered his mission, like a scholar, documenting his every feeling within the darkness, using his increasingly morbid thoughts to deduce the Night King’s power.

But in this absolute dark void, no matter how strong Bologue’s will was, he was repeatedly eroded by the darkness. It was as if he had been visited by a sleep demon; his thoughts became heavier. Each thought was so sluggish until Bologue’s self was completely frozen into silence, turning a corner of lifelessness along with the dark void.

A deep and distant voice lingered near Bologue’s gradually freezing thoughts, seemingly calling out Bologue’s name, yet it also seemed to narrate its own existence.

It was an exceedingly peculiar voice, as if thousands of serpents were flicking their tongues, or millions of rats were gnashing their teeth, piercingly high-pitched, converging into a cacophony of countless voices.

Bologue couldn’t understand the eerie language, but as if by instinct, he understood the meaning, silently repeating it.

"Calamity of this world, Darkness of Annihilation."

At the moment Bologue discerned the essence of the other, his thoughts froze completely, his self fell into a deep sleep, and like a frozen corpse, he drifted in the boundless darkness.

The dark void seemed to have truly defeated Bologue, but just as it was about to claim victory, Bologue suddenly opened his eyes, and another soul rapidly awakened within him.

"We must go now!"

Aimou’s voice rang from the depths of Bologue’s soul, and with the high degree of Heart Overlapping Shadow, she seemed to grasp Bologue’s underlying consciousness, forcibly awakening him.

The hollow gaze revived with vibrant spirit, and Bologue faced the darkness directly, decisively releasing Secret Energy according to the pre-established path.

Outside the dark void, the extended chains tightened like high-speed winches, quickly retracting, pulling Bologue out of the dark void in one swift move.

When the dim light once again entered Bologue’s eyes, his thoughts still had a clumsy sluggishness, but his instincts had already acted.

The Long Spears planted in advance ignited one after another, their inner Red Mercury fully combusting, the thunderous explosion engulfed both the Heartless and the dark void.

Bologue dashed out from the fiery explosion and landed back in the crowd. He suppressed the lingering void inside, asking, "How long was I in there?"

"About ten seconds," Palmer replied, "I thought you were mad, going to your death."

Bologue’s face was pale, "No... I just wanted to experience the Night King’s power firsthand."

Serey asked while running, "How does it feel?"

"Terrible," Bologue raised a high wall as usual to block the enemies behind, emphasizing again, "Very terrible, that darkness seems to annihilate all ’information’, starting with external influences, then the body’s senses, until self-recognition... It’s like an absolute abyss, devouring everything."

The impact of the dark void still lingered in Bologue’s mind, he clumsily described that forbidden power.

"What should we do then? Turn back and fight him to the death?"

Hinda couldn’t help but speak out; just with this few people, it’s impossible to kill the Night King, at least an army is needed.

"Let’s leave this place first!"

Bologue said, injecting a massive amount of Ether into the ground beneath, in an instant, the earth trembled and cracked, the ground beneath everyone’s feet rapidly lifted like a burgeoning mountain, smashing through layers of ceilings, forcefully breaching the Royal City’s structures.

The howls of the Heartless echoed behind them, destructive sound waves shattered buildings, but under Bologue’s precise control, the rising rocks and soil still formed a hundred-meter high tower, forcibly delivering everyone out of the labyrinthine palace.

The biting cold wind hit them, looking below, the Royal City was right before their eyes, and looking further back, a gigantic rock spike protruded abruptly from the palace, as if a giant’s thrown spear, impaling the city.

Bologue had just caught his breath when the Heartless broke through the barriers as well, racing along the giant rock spike toward them. Hinda instinctively stepped back, nearly stepping into thin air.

Palmer gripped the Rapier nervously, eyes unyielding, and asked, "As a Night Race Lord, isn’t there something you can do?!"

"In the face of absolute power, any trick is meaningless."

Serey looked at the charging enemies, shook his head and said, "I can unleash my power to resolve the current crisis, but afterward, my power will trigger an even greater disaster."

"Once you release your power, all Night Race will sense your presence," Bologue unexpectedly smiled, "I’m sure they will abandon the enemies in front of them, swarm over you, and tear you to pieces."

"More than that."

Serey stared at the dark void creeping out of the ruins, apparently the Night King had yet to notice Serey’s presence.

"They’re here!"

Olivia interrupted the conversation, and immediately the shadows swelled, writhing, and wrapped them entirely. In the next second, terrifying sound waves swept through their position, in intense trembling, the giant rock spike collapsed segment by segment, raining down thousands of tons of rubble.

Entire blocks were penetrated and crushed, amidst the spreading dust, the writhing shadows descended onto the ground, rose, then shattered like giant droplets of water smashing onto earth. The few emerged from it, unharmed under Olivia’s protection.

Just as their vision cleared, Bologue caught the heavy scent of blood, then saw the mountains of corpses and seas of blood piled around.

Blood flowed over the ground, most of it had already dried, making the ground dark red and sticky. Palmer lifted his foot, the sole covered in stringy blood.

Beyond the piled corpses, Bloodthirsty ones poked their heads out. Just as Bologue grew wary, thorny vines filled with spikes shot through the air, effortlessly piercing through the bodies of the Bloodthirsty ones, stringing them up neatly like prey on those crimson branches.

Seeing those thorns, Bologue felt his Vengeful Saw Axe strangely agitated in his hands, and then amidst a peculiar scraping sound, a creature entwined with thorns pushed aside the corpses and blood, appearing before Bologue.

"York?"

Bologue instantly recognized the creature; it was his teammate, York, who had gone missing in Gray Stone Town.

Sadly, York was now completely consumed by anger and evil power, he could no longer recognize Bologue, seeing them only as fresh meat, challengers to the Butcher’s Pit.

Thorns grew profusely, blocking all paths, and then shadows descended from the sky. The Heartless ones landed from the fractured rock spike, surrounding Bologue and others from behind, slowly closing in.

"Is this the greatest crisis in history?"

Palmer retreated a few steps, pressing back-to-back with Bologue. Bologue remained silent, sensing that at the outer edge of the Butcher’s Pit, more Bloodthirsty and Night Race were gathering, the writhing dark void extended from the ruins, like a slowly advancing wave of darkness.

Bologue took a deep breath; when surrounded, the most important thing is to maintain reason.
