Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1845: Ice World

Chapter 1845: Ice World

Adam didn’t know what had happened to Vador, nor did he know anything about the injury or illness that had brought him to this state, at least not until that moment.

In fact, Adam couldn’t understand how Vador was still alive, given what had happened to his Evolution Tree.

“Damn, is this the aftermath of the battle?” Adam’s eyes swept from one part of the tree to another as they hovered in the darkness and gradually lost their energy.

Once every part ran out of energy, it would all be over for Vador, and that would happen quite soon.

“Still, even this is a miracle. How is he still alive?”

Death from energy depletion was understandable, but it would be a common occurrence if Vador’s Evolution Tree were intact yet had one or more serious injuries. It was the same as having several bleeding wounds on a human body.

If the bleeding isn’t stopped, the person will eventually die of exhaustion, but these weren’t fatal wounds, they could have been healed if treated in time.

But if a person’s body were torn to pieces, with arms, legs, and torso lying on the ground, severed and mangled, it would be impossible to fix. Those were far too serious injuries.

This is exactly what happened to Vador’s Evolution Tree. So, Adam didn’t understand how Vador was still alive.

“Well, there must be some reason for this. In any case, when his energy runs out, he’ll die.”

Then, Adam’s gaze shifted to a white vase with an azure border running down the center, bottom, and top, flanked by three wavy rings.

Immediately, Adam noticed bright cracks running across the vase, and frosty vapor was escaping with a bright light.

After that, his eyes moved to the ice flows resembling threads that were just slowly swaying from side to side amid the darkness.

“It looks like the reason he’s still alive is this vase, doesn’t it?” Adam narrowed his eyes. “Or… is this exactly what caused his downfall?”

Step. Step. Step.

Adam stepped forward, looking around carefully.

This was the first time he had been inside the monster’s inner space. He didn’t know what to expect, but he was calm.

His instincts were dormant, as everything in this place pointed to its quiet death. There was nothing here that could threaten him.

Without realizing it, Adam noticed some curious details.

‘Hmm, energy emanating from the tree’s parts, it looks just like flows, or… threads.’

Adam approached one of the parts. It was a heavy branch that had once held more power than a regular Elder.

However, now, only a small fraction of its bright light remained. The light was escaping through numerous cracks, weakening Vador with every breath he took.

“I agreed to help Amelia, but what can I do?”

His gaze swept over the cracks as an idea came to him that, at first, seemed excellent.

Tap.

He placed his palm against the crack, channeling his energy. Soon, a white patch covered the crack, preventing Vador’s energy from escaping.

A joyful smile appeared on Adam’s face, but it didn’t last long.

The patch trembled, shattering into fragments as a powerful flow of energy surged outward.

“Damn… That’s disappointing,” Adam muttered. “I stopped it for a couple of seconds, but just as much energy got out as if I hadn’t done anything.”

“Then again, if it were that simple, Amelia and the others would have fixed everything a long time ago.”

Still, Adam realized something.

Whooooooosh!

He waved his hand, and the energy flows reacted to his movement, scattering to the sides.

Adam narrowed his eyes, but that wasn’t enough to draw any conclusions.

He had to check one more thing.

“You…” Adam turned toward the white vase. “You’re broken too, but you’re the one keeping Vador alive, right?”

Step. Step. Step.

Adam approached the vase as he slowly reached out, preparing to touch it.

A slight tremor ran through the vase, causing Adam to pause for a moment.

“I have no other choice anyway!” Adam gripped the vase tightly with both hands.

At that very moment, his eyes shone brightly as he felt an intense cold, not from fear or surprise, but a real, tangible chill.

Then came a sense of freshness, the likes of which Adam had only ever experienced in the Primal Lands.

“Agh…?”

Adam let out a sigh as the darkness gave way to another world.

Before Adam’s eyes lay snow-capped mountains, frozen rivers, and vast lakes over which a free, frosty wind swept.

Snow was falling slowly, and a few snowflakes had already landed on Adam’s shoulders as he stood frozen in shock.

“Where am I…?” Adam gulped as he lowered his gaze.

He saw pale-blue energy flows passing by him, dense and saturated with the ice element.

“What powerful energy, it’s denser even than in the Primal Lands. No, it’s significantly denser!”

Adam looked around, but there was nothing here but mountains, lakes, and forests covered in a thick layer of snow.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Suddenly, a tremor shook the air as ice crystals rose above the lake, forming a great altar.

One blue fragment after another appeared above the ice altar as the density of the energy increased with each one.

“Wait… This is…” Adam blinked, looking at the sharp and rounded edges of the fragments. “Is this a core?”

THUMP!

Adam’s knees buckled as he could no longer resist the pressure.

“RGH!”

He clenched his teeth, staring at the trembling fragments through which barely perceptible energy flows passed.

Then, a bright flash swept across the frozen lands, hurling Adam outward, not only from this world, but from Vador’s inner space as well.

Whoooooosh!

A freezing blast erupted from Vador just as Romara’s eyes widened.

In the blink of an eye, a thick layer of ice covered the chamber, from the bed to the walls and doors. Nothing could escape the icy wave.

Blink.

Adam blinked as he realized he couldn’t breathe.

“W-What?”

Adam was frozen in an icy prison. He couldn’t even move. The ice restrained his movements.

But before panic could set in, he felt a touch on his back.

Tap.

Amelia hugged him tightly as her energy shattered the ice into a myriad of fragments. Unlike Adam and Romara, the ice wave did not affect them.

“Now, you’ve learned more, Mr. Adam.”

Amelia looked him in the eyes, knowing his thoughts.

“You’ve seen our family’s Legacy Artifact.”
