Chapter 428: A Common Problem Among All Factions

Caelus looked at the failed discount notice and reached for his Ender Of Origin power.

It was his ultimate cheat. Mixing it with other things brought in unexpected results.

The Origin Network had refused to apply his talent to the ascension requirement. That would have been a problem if he still had to follow its rules.

The restriction flickered beneath his authority.

This time, the number changed.

Caelus read it again before laughing.

"There we go. You could have saved us both some time by doing that earlier."

"Does it work for me too?" Sylvia asked.

"Let’s find out."

He kept her within his influence and applied the same override to her requirement. The discount followed without resistance.

"That guard really should have stayed out of our way," Sylvia said.

"I almost feel bad for him."

"No, you don’t."

Caelus grinned and opened the faction balance.

They had roughly forty billion Faith Power. At three hundred and thirty million per trial, that was enough to cover a hundred and twenty-one people.

Holy shit.

His people would still need to prepare their bodies and pass their trials, but the entry requirement no longer stood in their way. He could pay for an entire force.

"We’re going to make a battalion, Sylvia."

She nodded.

"Then we should start with everyone who came this far with us."

"Mia and Freya first, along with Seraphin Lin and the others. My parents and your mother is coming too."

Caelus closed the confirmation windows without starting the trial to ascension.

He had to train his powers first.

Before he brought everyone together, there was someone he wanted to speak with. Their new position made the Boundless Light Faction’s stance more important than ever.

He found Lyra in Genesis Kingdom later that day.

"How have you been?"

"Just going with the flow, I guess." She smiled faintly. "So much has happened that I’ve stopped trying to guess what comes next."

Her gaze moved toward the busy streets.

"This world itself feels strange sometimes. Every time I think I understand it, something else happens."

"There’s not much we can do about that. We just have to make sure we’re ready when it does."

Lyra looked back at him.

"Did you speak with the Overseer about your true identity?"

"Not yet. We still don’t know what sort of person he is beneath all that politeness."

"He’s kind, Caelus. He looked after us when there was no reason to expect anything in return. Even Mia. Remember, she belongs to your faction and even then, he took her in simply because she had the Angle Talent."

"I remember. That doesn’t mean I’m ready to tell him everything."

Lyra nodded instead of pushing him.

"His superiors have treated us well too. They oversee the faction’s work in space and handle the Faith Power sent down from the God Domain."

That caught his attention.

"There are Gods serving under the Divine God of Boundless Light?"

"Yes. They’re the ones who arrange the Faith Power sent here."

"And the Divine God himself? Is he still there?"

"i’m not sure. I know the faction remains active, but I haven’t seen anything that proves he’s still personally leading it or have seen them ever mention his name."

Caelus fell silent.

The Divine God of Boundless Light had been his creation in essence. If he was still there, Caelus might have a powerful ally waiting beyond the trial.

He wanted to know what had become of him.

A notification appeared before Lyra could continue. She read it and frowned.

"The Overseer wants to see me immediately."

"Did he say why?"

"No, only that it’s urgent."

"Then I’ll come with you."

They found the silver-haired Overseer waiting inside the Boundless Light Faction’s territory. His usual calm expression had changed as he watched a communication window above his desk.

He rose when they entered.

"Thank you for coming so quickly."

"What happened?" Lyra asked.

"There may be a problem in the God Domain."

The Overseer turned the window toward them, showing messages from the faction’s higher officials.

"Today was the scheduled distribution of Faith Power. We received nothing, and every other faction our superiors contacted reported the same problem."

"Could the transfers simply be delayed?" Caelus asked.

"That was our first thought. But we haven’t received a proper explanation from above."

The Overseer looked toward Lyra.

"The elders are trying to establish contact. They believe something is happening in the God Domain, though they haven’t determined what."

Caelus read the messages without speaking.

Things were moving faster than he had expected.

His thoughts returned to the Heavenly Faction. He had destroyed its force in the Heavenly Spirit World, but that could hardly have been the full extent of its presence here.

A faction involved in so much would not depend on a single planet filled with people that weak. Its strongest Origin Lords might be operating from somewhere in space, just as the Boundless Light Faction’s higher officials did.

"What do you think?" Lyra asked.

"For now, we can only wait for a reply from the God Domain. Let me know the moment you hear anything."

The Overseer nodded.

"And what will you do?"

"I’m going to train."

Caelus contacted John after leaving the hall.

"I need you to search for other Heavenly Faction bases. Focus on places where high-level Origin Lords gather."

"Beyond the Heavenly Spirit World?"

"Yes. I don’t believe that planet was all they had."

"I’ll have people look into it."

Once the call ended, Caelus returned to Genesis Kingdom and found Sylvia.

He explained what the Overseer had told him before bringing up the training zone. With trouble developing above them, he wanted to make better use of the time they had.

"I want to work on my full dragon transformation. There’s still plenty I haven’t tested."

"I’ll open the God of Combat’s Training Zone. We should bring the others too."

By the time their companions gathered, Caelus had checked Temporal Regression’s status Chaos Analysis. He had placed it there a few time back and the amount of time he used Temporal Regression was very low hence the number was still low. But the total time he could rewind was still better than before. It was at 15 minutes now.

But of course, that will change today.

Sylvia opened the entrance, and each person received a separate training zone. Caelus checked that everyone had entered before accepting his own assignment.

He appeared alone and brought up the analysis window.

Temporal Regression could already send him five minutes into the past. He wondered what would happen once he understood every part of it using Chaos Analysis.

Perhaps going backward was only the beginning.
