Chapter 713: The Singing Queen
Since there was still plenty of time before the Battle Choir started, Alex hurried to the audience stand to join the others in cheering for Astrea.
The moment he appeared, a cheer erupted from the crowd. In response, the young man smiled and waved at those who were congratulating him for winning the Singing King tournament.
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim jumped onto Alex’s shoulder and poked his cheek.
"You look happy, Dim Dim," Alex said with a smile.
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim nodded.
"Um? What do you mean you’re happy because your ears didn’t die today?"
"Ehe~"
"Don’t ’Ehe~’ me and answer the question."
The little bun giggled before jumping away. Clearly, it had no intention of telling Alex anything!
Meanwhile, the fairies looked at Alex as if he were a traitor who had betrayed their trust.
"What’s wrong with you girls?" Alex blinked. "Aren’t you all my greatest supporters?"
"We are." Doh pouted.
"Congrats..." Reh said.
The other fairies congratulated Alex "reluctantly," making the young man wonder if they were just being shy.
He then sat on the seat Dim Dim had reserved for him and accepted the glow sticks the little bun had stuffed into his hands.
A few minutes later, the Master of Ceremonies returned, introducing the participants for the Singing Queen tournament this time around.
"Every King needs a Queen. Today, we shall find out who will join him in his throne!" the MC declared. "First, let me introduce to you the representative of Faelarun Academy. Please, give a round of applause to Miss Freyren!"
"Huh?!" Alex and Prince Edward gasped at the same time. How could a thousand-year-old elf be a First Year student in Faelarun Academy?!
"Oh, sorry. It’s not Miss Freyren. It’s actually Miss Arendelle!" the MC corrected. "Sorry everyone. My microphone malfunctioned!"
"""Uh huh."""
The audience gave the MC the benefit of the doubt and started to clap their hands the moment a beautiful elf wearing a dazzling green dress walked out of the entrance of the coliseum and headed up on stage.
"Elves are really beautiful creatures," Chuck said.
"What’s wrong?" Alex asked his roommate. "Do you want to have an elven lover?"
Princess Xenia, Mary, and Eleanora didn’t even look in Chuck’s direction. However, they were secretly paying attention to his answer.
"No way." Chuck shook his head firmly. "I’m not like you, Alex. Three is more than enough for me."
""Three?!"" Nessia, Latifa, and Lavinia commented at the same time.
They knew about Chuck’s relationship with Princess Xenia and Mary. However, they had no idea as to who the third person could be!
Eleanora continued to stare at Miss Arendelle, as if the mere fact of not looking in her direction would give her away.
"Sorry, but that’s a secret," Chuck hurriedly replied as he almost slapped himself for almost digging a grave for himself.
The three ladies, whose curiosities were now piqued, glanced at each other as they thought of asking Princess Xenia and Mary about this matter when they returned to the academy.
"Thank you, everyone, for coming to watch me sing today," Arendelle said softly. "I dedicate this song called ’Anytime Anywhere’ to all of you."
Her speaking voice alone sounded quite nice. It was the kind of voice that was perfect for singing mellow music that could put people to sleep.
Everyone quieted down so that the young lady could sing, and she didn’t disappoint.
Her song was bittersweet, eliciting a melancholic feeling within everyone listening to it.
When the song ended, a thunderous applause spread throughout the entire coliseum as cheers rained down upon the elven beauty, who bowed her head toward the audience and then waved in their direction.
"That was a very outstanding performance, Miss Arendelle," the MC said. "And now, please welcome the Singing Queen of Solara Academy. Let’s give a big hand to Miss... Moh Anna!"
"I am Moh Annaaaaaa~"
The young lady didn’t hesitate to announce her arrival at the arena, which prompted everyone to shower her with applause.
She looked like a very lively and charming girl who was bristling with energy.
"Greetings, everyone! Did you pay an entrance fee to watch this singing competition? If yes, then you have been scammed!" Moh Anna said with a smile, eliciting laughter from the crowd. "The entrance is free!"
Even Alex and Chuck couldn’t help but chuckle after hearing Moh Anna’s flawless way of earning more brownie points from everyone in the coliseum.
A giggle escaped the young lady’s lips before she finally told everyone the name of the song she was going to sing.
"The song I plan to sing today is called ’How Far I’ll Go!’ If any of you know this song, don’t hesitate to sing along with me, okay?!"
The crowd cheered, amused by the young lady’s overflowing positivity.
Of course, they couldn’t possibly join her in singing the song. The judges needed to hear her sing properly, and it was basic courtesy to keep their mouths shut.
When the music started playing, Moh Anna retained her upbeat and lively tone, making her listeners smile.
It was the complete opposite of Arendelle’s melancholic singing that could make someone tear up.
Moh Anna’s song was very uplifting, making someone wish they could go on an adventure and sail the seven seas with her.
When the song ended, another thunderous round of applause shook the entire arena, which included Alex and Chuck as they both gave a standing ovation.
Moh Anna grinned before pointing in Alex’s direction.
"It seems that ’My King’ has also recognized my talent," Moh Anna said in a teasing tone. "Hopefully, I’ll win so we can sing a duet together!"
In front of everyone, the young lady didn’t hesitate to blow Alex a kiss, which made his lovers shake their heads helplessly.
They could tell that Moh Anna was simply teasing Alex, so they didn’t feel any animosity toward her.
After seeing her score, which was surprisingly tied with Arendelle’s score, the young lady giggled as if finding the current turn of events quite amusing.
In the end, she left the stage with grace, waving at the audience as she walked to the waiting area.
A few minutes later, the MC’s booming voice once again reached everyone’s ears.
"All our young ladies are exceptionally talented," the MC said with a smile. "I can’t seem to choose a personal favorite. Well then. It’s time for me to introduce the Singing Queen of Frieden Academy! Everyone, please give a big round of applause for Miss Astrea!"
A moment later, a young lady wearing a glittering purple dress appeared and waved at the crowd.
Alex couldn’t help but stare at his "Queen," who was now about to show everyone her powerful singing voice.
Yet, halfway across her walk, Astrea suddenly stumbled, making the ladies cover their eyes, fearing to see her fall face first to the ground.
Suddenly, a rush of wind blew past her, and the young lady, who had her eyes closed while bracing for impact, suddenly realized that someone was holding onto her.
When she opened her eyes, she found Alex supporting her body, making sure she wouldn’t fall down.
The young ladies, who had covered their eyes earlier, took a peek and saw the young man hold onto the beautiful lady, looking like a valiant prince who had come to save the day.
This time, another round of cheering and whistles spread across the arena, making Astrea’s face turn beet red.
She felt very embarrassed because she had ruined her shining moment.
Astrea was already used to tripping from nothing, as it had been a natural part of her everyday life.
However, to think that it would happen when thousands of people were looking at her made her embarrassment rise to the roof.
"You don’t have to worry about the opinion of others," Alex said softly, making sure only she could hear his words. "No matter how many times you fall, I promise to be there to catch you."
After saying those words, Alex helped her stand up and even offered his arm to her. Clearly, he planned to escort her to the stage to avoid any more mishaps.
With a face that was as red as an apple, Astrea reached out to hold the young man’s arm and walked toward the arena as if they were walking down the aisle.
This act once again prompted cheers, whistles, and hoots from the crowd who enjoyed this moment very much. This beautiful scene was one they would fondly remember for many more years to come.
