Chapter 828: How Dangerous Is Dangerous?

Renard woke up feeling something soft pressing on his face.

It was then that he recalled everything that had happened last night, letting him understand his current situation.

Melissa was hugging his head, and his face was buried in her chest.

Both of them had spent a night of passion together and fell asleep while holding each other.

He already had a feeling that things would end up this way when she suddenly barged into the academy, asking him to go on a date together.

At first, Renard planned to decline since going on a date was too troublesome. But when Melissa said that she had come bearing Lady Celestria’s letter, the young man had no choice but to accompany her.

He had no idea how the two ladies hit it off with each other, but the two of them seemed to get along really well.

In fact, Melissa often accompanied Lady Celestria on her charitable missions outside the capital, acting as one of her bodyguards.

The Saintess of the Kingdom of Solara was a lady whom every man wished to make his wife and lover.

Little did they know that she was no longer as pure as they believed her to be, for she had already given her maidenhood to Renard.

Lady Celestria was Renard’s first time. And since it was both their first time, they had to learn things from what little information they knew about the act.

Even so, it had allowed Renard to finally understand what he wanted to do in life. It grounded him in place and made him realize that his thinking back then was naive.

Of course, getting stronger was still part of his goal. However, this time, he wanted to become strong not just for himself, but also for those who were important to him.

The battle in Hy-Brasil made him understand that there would come a time when he would have to face an opponent that far surpassed his current strength.

He understood that he didn’t need to fight those battles alone.

He was no longer alone.

He had friends who would help him fight these battles, and he would also help them fight their own battles.

As Renard thought about whether he should break free from Melissa’s hold, the young lady’s playful voice reached his ears.

"Oh? So you’re already awake?" Melissa said in a teasing tone. "How about I wake you up a bit more?"

The young lady pulled Renard’s head closer to her chest. The young man then understood what she wanted, and for several minutes, Melissa’s muffled moans spread inside the room.

Two hours later, they finally left their room to have breakfast together.

When they went past the innkeeper lady, she gave them the stink eye and mumbled, "Youngsters these days make so much noise that it makes it hard to sleep."

Unfortunately for her, her room was right below Renard and Melissa’s room.

She didn’t get much sleep all night.

Because of this, she decided to give them the farthest room from her own room if they ever decided to stay overnight again.

Renard and Melissa both had heightened senses, so they heard the innkeeper lady’s mumblings.

However, both still acted like they didn’t hear anything and simply left the inn after returning the key.

They originally planned to eat breakfast there, but they changed their minds.

There was no shortage of restaurants in the city of Harmonia, so going to a different place to have breakfast was also an option.

’Next time, I’ll ask Nessia for a soundproofing talisman,’ Renard thought.

Although it didn’t show on his face, he felt embarrassed about other people knowing what they had done in his room last night.

Perhaps Melissa was also thinking the same thing because her cheeks were a little redder than usual.

When they finally found a place to eat, they gave their orders to the waitress and chatted with each other while waiting for their food.

"So, you don’t plan to go see Celestria during your summer vacation?" Melissa asked.

"I’ll pay a visit to her since I will soon go to the Kingdom of Solara," Renard replied.

"You mean that place where you and your friends will go?" Melissa asked.

"Yes." Renard nodded. "That place."

Renard planned to go to the final trial of The Hermit alongside his friends.

Since they had already completed two of those trials together, completing the last trial the same way felt completely natural.

"I think I’ll be free by then." Melissa pondered. "Will it be fine if I go with you?"

"Why not?" Renard replied. "It might also be a good thing for you."

"You say it’s a good thing, and yet you refuse to tell me the details." Melissa arched an eyebrow. "Why are you acting all mysterious now? It doesn’t suit you."

"It’s because you won’t believe me even if I tell you," Renard stated.

"Try me." Melissa crossed her arms over her chest, which Renard had enjoyed very much last night.

A soft sigh escaped the young man’s lips as he moved closer to tell her in a volume that only she could hear.

"It’s the Trial of the Hermit," Renard said. "And it can be a very dangerous trial."

Melissa frowned at those words. A part of her wanted to say, "Stop joking, or I’ll hit you!" But she knew that Renard wasn’t someone who would make jokes.

In fact, there was no funny bone in his body. He always treated things seriously, making Melissa understand that he was telling the truth.

"Fine, I want to experience this trial too." Melissa nodded. "So, how dangerous is dangerous?"

"My friends and I almost died last time," Renard declared without hesitation. "So, if you are going to go on this mission with me, then you must take it with the notion of putting your life on the line."

The young lady stared at Renard for several seconds before letting out a small sigh.

"If that’s the case, I’ll make sure to prepare myself properly before we leave," Melissa said.

"Then it’s settled." Renard nodded, knowing she wasn’t the type of person who would back down simply because something was dangerous.

Melissa smiled and reached across the table to grab his hand. "Of course it is. Wherever you go, I’ll go with you. I’ll see if I can drag Celestria along. If she’s there, then we will have a powerful healer!"

Renard didn’t know whether he should be happy over the thought that his two lovers were going to accompany him on a dangerous trip.

However, he had already made up his mind.

No matter what it took, he would pass that trial and gain the power to protect the people who now held a special place in his once stubborn heart.
