CHAPTER 153: NO MORE!

Rose stilled her breathing as she lay prone on the roof of the building.

Slowly but surely, she entered a special zone, as the world faded around her. The only thing in her focus was the Elite-rank boar in the scope and nothing else.

The pink light congregating before the barrel of her long rifle complemented her deeply glowing eyes. It wasn't until a full fifteen breaths later that she pulled the trigger.

A loud bang echoed out, but even before the bullet left the barrel, she clicked her tongue in visible annoyance.

The reason was clear a split second later.

Far away, the boar had just crushed Daniel's blood summon with a stomp of its front hooves and was now barreling towards Elena while Nathan tried unsuccessfully to pull its attention as he teleported around the creature. But the monster ignored the nicks he left on its hide and instead aimed to kill the one who was truly a threat to it.

It was in the process of charging that the creature's instincts suddenly screamed at it.

It could only quickly shut its eyes before a resounding bang reverberated in the area.

- ROAR!

The beast roared in pain, its behemoth of a body sent flying backward. A massive crater formed on the spot where it collided with the ground, plumes of dust rising to obstruct its figure.

Elena's telekinesis rippled out, blasting the dust away. A flicker of shock appeared on her face when she saw the boar's right eye mangled beyond belief, crimson blood gushing down its snout.

The beast's remaining eye flashed with a bit of caution before a terrifying menace took over. Even with such a weak spot targeted, the beast's unnatural defenses had still been formidable enough to stop the bullet from turning its brain into mush.

But now that the creature knew its life was truly in danger, it erupted with its full might, unwilling to toy with its prey any longer.

With its roar, massive spikes jutted out of the earth around it, their pointed ends glinting menacingly.

Despite its frenzied state, the beast was still smart enough not to remain in one spot for a split second. It kept changing its direction as it rushed at Elena, the spikes dissuading Daniel and Nathan from drawing closer.

Three ice walls formed before it, back to back, but the creature's steps didn't halt for a moment as it barreled through them as if they were paper.

Elena gritted her teeth at this sight and was about to dodge the attack when a voice suddenly resounded directly in her mind.

If it wasn't because she was already in a state of deep concentration, she would have turned around in shock, looking for where the voice was coming from.

But it only took her a moment to recognize the owner.

Rose? She sent in her mind.

Yes, it's me. A reply came a moment later as she continued. Can you restrain the beast for a moment? I have a way to kill it. I will tell you when to act.

Elena was shocked to hear her words, forgetting for a moment how magical the fact that she could hear her voice despite the girl being more than a kilometer away in the first place.

Of course, the little minx had not revealed the full extent of her abilities to the others, and it was a wonder how Kael would react if he should find out.

Yet, after the initial surprise passed away, what Elena felt wasn't relief. No, she felt anger.

Anger at herself for being so weak.

Awakened with not only an Epic-rank class but even a Legendary talent, she had thought she had a great journey ahead of her. She had opted to hide her talent, and even after she returned from her trial, she barely trained her telekinesis.

Unlike classes, talents were innate and were entirely up to the awakened to figure out how to control them. Yet, she had handicapped herself in fear of appearing too special and also to keep a trump card.

Now she understood how foolish her thought process was.

She was surrounded by monsters in human flesh!

Despite the danger barreling towards her, Elena still glanced from the side of her eyes, her gaze falling on the terrifying battle erupting some distance away from them. Seeing the sight of the majestic blue figure and a spinning Kael single-handedly holding back such a powerful epic-rank beast, Elena felt a surge of anger course through her veins at the thought that she was struggling against a mere Elite-rank beast, and that too with the help of two others.

No, with Rose, that would make three.

Aside from her rage, was another emotion that bubbled within her, this one with a far lower intensity.

Hadn't Kael already shown interest towards her?

Honestly, Elena didn't care about his feelings and only wanted to use his power for her purpose. She knew all men were the same and only thought with their lower parts.

Yet, seeing the sight of that small frame almost swallowed in the embrace of the eight massive dark limbs, a feeling of betrayal welled up inside her.

And it didn't help that at the moment, Alice looked like the far better of the two of them.

It was almost as if Kael had abandoned her for a better choice.

'Since when did I become so miserable?' To think she would care for the actions of a boy, one even younger at that?

The rage spiraling within her turned into shame, the whirlwind of emotions nearly making the young girl scream just to release them.

And scream she did.

Ignoring Rose's previous words, Elena screamed at the top of her lungs. Memories of her childhood flashed in her mind, the pain she experienced. The loneliness and shame. The rage at her parents.

And now towards herself.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

She didn't know when her voice cracked, but even as her vision turned foggy, she could barely make out that the beast was still rushing at her, struggling against the concentric waves of sound blasting from her mouth, its speed visibly diminishing with every step.

'Then so be it!'

Something within her broke, and she finally let go. She had had enough of holding back.

Her telekinesis pooled out from her, surging around her like a raging sea.

They slammed onto the titanic boar, looking to hold it in place, but the beast roared back, a crimson light flashing around it.

Elena's scream increased once more as she reached a feverish pitch. Her golden hair waved behind her like a golden banner caught in a storm, and her telekinesis continued slamming against the beast like towering waves battering against an unyielding ship.

She didn't even realize when her feet left the ground, her telekinesis raising her slowly into the air, even as beams of sound waves rolled out of her outstretched mouth.

"AAAAAAAAH!"

The boar's roar was lost in her scream, and finally, the beast came to a halt just half a meter before her, blood rushing out of its mouth, eyes, and ears as the sound waves kept impacting against it.

Its hide that had held firm against her rare items, and even against Daniel's and Nathan's attacks, groaned under the weight of her telekinesis. Its muscles bulged grotesquely, its bones creaked, and its roar of anger dissolved into agonized groans.

The sight of the seventeen-year-old blonde girl floating at the same level as the boar's head, with her hair waving around her and her mouth opened in a scream even as blood flowed down the sides of her lips, and a beast over seven meters tall held in place before her, was such a majestic sight.

That was until a pink light divided the skies into two, and the world fell into a stifling silence.
