Engagement Annulled? Now The Husbands Kneel and Beg for Her Favor
Chapter 520: Extra: Xie Youchen - A Dream Come True (3)
「An hour later.」
Jiang Qingli and Xie Youchen sat side by side on a seaside reef.
The white foam of the waves slowly rolled in, washing over their ankles.
The seaside estate was vast, and the gentle sound of the waves was very relaxing.
Not far away, Chen Mi stood amidst a sea of fresh flowers and white gauze, directing a few people with the final adjustments. He then studied the design plan, stroking his chin and looking it over and over, thoroughly pleased.
“Do you like it?” Xie Youchen asked.
“I do.” Jiang Qingli really did love the seaside. She closed her eyes to feel the ocean breeze, smiling as she chatted with him. “I thought I wouldn’t get to see it until tomorrow.”
“If there’s anything you don’t like, we can change it.”
‘It was rare for Xie Youchen to feel like he was handing in homework; he had never been this nervous, not even facing his teachers back when he was a student.’
“There’s nothing that needs changing. I love all of it.” Jiang Qingli looked for a moment, then affirmed with certainty, “It’s perfect!”
On the beach, Chen Mi glanced at his watch, gave everything one last check, and then used his Superpower to protect the area. Leaving two security guards behind, he departed the scene.
The waves swelled and receded. Jiang Qingli stood up, and just as she was about to pull Xie Youchen back with her, he suddenly took her hand.
Jiang Qingli turned around.
At that moment, the last rays of the setting sun skimmed across the surface of the sea and landed in the eyes of the young man kneeling beside her. The brilliant orange flickered like a dancing flame, his adoration burning, unconcealed and endless.
Xie Youchen held up the wedding ring and asked, word for word, “Jiang Qingli, will you spend the rest of your life with Xie Youchen?”
The sound of the waves blurred, and the only thing clear in the entire world was the sound of their breathing.
Xie Youchen looked up at her, his knuckles tightening with tension.
Tomorrow, the Goddess would ask this very question as the witness at their wedding.
But Xie Youchen wanted to hear her answer before anyone else.
Jiang Qingli froze for a second. Her gaze slid past his tense face and settled on the eyes looking up at her. “Is there a rehearsal for this part too?”
She crouched down in front of Xie Youchen, meeting his gaze, and said earnestly, “I do.”
The sound of the waves grew louder. Xie Youchen took the silver band and slid it onto Jiang Qingli’s ring finger, then handed his own ring to her.
Jiang Qingli mimicked him, asking, “Xie Youchen, will you spend the rest of your life with Jiang Qingli? For richer or for super richer, in health or in super health, you’ll never leave her side.”
Xie Youchen’s eyes curved into a smile. “I do.”
Jiang Qingli took the ring and put it on his finger, but she didn’t stand up. Instead, she cleared her throat and leaned in close. “And also…”
The final step of the wedding—
Their ringed fingers found each other, lacing together.
The moment they closed their eyes, a shower of pure white rose petals scattered from the sky, landing in their hair before being swept away by the sea breeze.
The Goddess’s voice sounded beside them, speaking softly, “You may now kiss each other…”
The white veil fluttered as their lips touched.
The blessed applause of their friends and family enveloped them like a tidal wave.
The kiss didn’t last long.
After mentally counting to three, Jiang Qingli opened her eyes, just as Xie Youchen did the same.
Their eyes met, and they both saw the smiles in each other’s gaze.
“Happy wedding.”
Jiang Qingli mouthed the words to him over the noise.
“Happy wedding.”
Xie Youchen mouthed back, copying her.
Then, they both broke into laughter at the same time.
“What are you two whispering about?” said Song Zhizhou, who was sitting in the second row. “Stop with the secrets and let us give you a huge round of blessings!”
Xie Youchen shot him a look, and Song Zhizhou immediately made a “zip it” motion across his lips and fell silent.
The emcee hurried forward and asked the guests to take their seats inside the estate. The newlyweds would change into their toasting outfits and then make their rounds.
–
After changing into their toasting outfits, Jiang Qingli and Xie Youchen went to the reception hall to propose toasts to their guests.
Not many people attended the wedding. The other Beast Husbands didn’t come; only the elders of the Jiang Family and some close friends of the couple were present.
At the elders’ table, besides Jiang Yi and three Beast Husbands, the other seats were left empty. They were reserved for Xie Youchen’s parents.
During the toast, Jiang Yi looked at Xie Youchen for a long time before saying, “Youchen, they would be very happy to know this.”
“Thank you, Mom.” Xie Youchen drank the wine, his gaze falling on the empty seats as his hand tightened around Jiang Qingli’s.
After toasting the elders, the couple moved to the area where their friends were gathered.
The two tables on the left were for Xie Youchen’s friends and his closer colleagues and subordinates from the military district. The two tables on the right were for Jiang Qingli’s friends and colleagues.
The two of them went from table to table, proposing toasts.
Once the toasts were finished, they were about to return to the elders’ table to thank them again, but someone stopped them from leaving.
Song Zhizhou slung an arm around Xie Youchen’s shoulders, his eyes red. “Buddy, I never thought… that someone would actually want you! This is so great! You have no idea how many days and nights I worried you’d die alone!”
Xie Youchen was silent for two seconds. “Thanks for your concern.”
“You’re my best friend, how could I not be concerned?!” Song Zhizhou suddenly roared, startling Chen Mi, who was standing nearby.
Chen Mi clutched his chest. Song Zhizhou then abruptly turned to Jiang Qingli, grabbing her hand and placing it in Xie Youchen’s.
“You two…” Song Zhizhou sputtered, repeating the words a few times before he could continue. “Right, Qingli, you two have to be happy! You have to be happy!”
Song Zhizhou was truly drunk. After speaking, he raised his glass again. “Today is such a great day! Drinks for everyone! This young master is paying!”
He yelled it at the top of his lungs. The person next to him face-palmed in resignation. Who would have thought that a few seconds later, someone else would yell even louder—
“No way! I’m the one paying today!!!”
In the background, Lin Xiyue raised her glass high and roared to the whole table, “I told you my girl is the best! Everyone, call me big sis! Us brothers and sisters have finally made it!!!”
Just as Ai Li was about to pull her down, another figure stood up, raised their glass, and said, “Drink!”
Qiao Lan was a lightweight, and her face was already beet red.
Normally, Lin Xiyue wouldn’t dare talk much to Qiao Lan, but now that they were both drunk, they had their arms around each other’s shoulders, clinking glasses and downing drinks. One would yell, “My girl is incredible!” and the other would shout, “It’s such a blessing to marry the president!” and they drank with soaring spirits.
Song Zhizhou heard them and ran over admiringly to offer a toast. The three of them started calling each other brother and sister, their seniority all mixed up!
Ai Li covered her face. “Someone, please stop them…”
“Sis, why stop them on such a happy occasion?” Ke An swirled the wine in her glass, took a slow sip, and said regretfully, “Too bad our Secretary Yuan isn’t free today~ He would have been a happy witness if he came~”
Ai Bin tugged her sleeve. “Female master, you should talk less. We still have to rely on the Secretary for documents and things…”
“Fine, I won’t say any more. Come on, drink up, drink up!”
Ke An glanced back, and a waiter standing there hurried over to refill everyone’s glass.
The group drank from sunset until the moon was high and the stars were sparse. In the end, only Ai Li and Ke An were still sitting at the table.
Ke An checked the time, wanting to have one last toast with the newlyweds before heading to bed.
But when she stood up unsteadily and looked around, all she saw was a table full of drunks.
“Strange, where did those two go off to be romantic…”
