Enlightenment: Beginning as a Disposable Warrior
Chapter 683: Half-Step Grandmaster Fierce Battle, Inviting the Tiger into the Sheep Pen!_3
Before getting close, Su Mu already sensed the numerous presences of hidden guards around him, stationed every ten steps and with a lookout every five steps.
“Attacking the auction while being so heavily guarded… what exactly are these sea pirates up to?”
Su Mu grew cautious and even more curious.
Getting closer, Su Mu’s pupils narrowed as he observed many sea pirates transporting bloody corpses underground, the thick scent of fresh blood indicating these people had died today.
“They even attacked people from the four islands, but what do they need these corpses for?”
Su Mu’s gaze fell upon the dark cave leading underground, where an ominous aura brewed, unsettling him. While staring at the cave, the square-faced man beside him seemed to sense some of Su Mu’s emotional fluctuations.
“What’s there to worry about? The Gang Leader and several adults are handling everything; it’s just a matter of killing some people. As long as the Gang Leader’s plan succeeds…”
The sentence abruptly stopped, and the man coughed a few times while leading Su Mu out of the dense forest to the entrance.
“Remove the mask.”
Sea pirates guarding the entrance, fully armed, surrounded them. Although cautious, Su Mu had disguised himself early on with a mask resembling a skinny monkey, so he wasn’t afraid to remove it.
Once confirmed, the two smoothly entered the underground dark hall.
“This dark hall is packed with Fifth Grade Six Viscera Realm martial artists, all fully armed wearing Middle Third-Grade Dharma Artifact level armor… Is this the reserves of the Jiao Blood Gang?”
Along the way, Su Mu sensed energies above the Fifth Grade, and as they went deeper, Fourth-Grade Martial Artists began to appear frequently.
“Skinny Monkey, your Breath Concealment Technique is better than mine. There’s fewer of us in the warehouse; you keep an eye on them over there. Not a single mistake can be allowed right now.”
The square-faced man whispered close to Su Mu’s ear, reminding him to be on guard.
Warehouse?
Su Mu’s eyes brightened as if someone had delivered a pillow exactly when he needed a nap. However, he stopped moving because, after all, he wasn’t the real Skinny Monkey and didn’t know the warehouse’s location.
Moreover, listening to this man, apart from the Jiao Blood Gang, there seemed to be other sea pirates on the island, and the square-faced man chose him to keep an eye on them from the shadows.
At this moment, a disciple carried a box and headed in a certain direction, the faint scent of medicine wafting from it, prompting Su Mu to step quickly and follow.
The square-faced man watched Su Mu’s departing figure with a hint of doubt in his eyes. He felt that the Skinny Monkey seemed a bit odd today, but earlier they had confirmed it was indeed him.
As it was a critical juncture in the Gang Leader’s grand plan, he couldn’t afford to slack off and hurriedly left.
Halfway through, he saw someone transporting a corpse into an underground palace. A sideways glance revealed a blood-soaked interior with corpses piled into a small mountain.
Amongst those corpse hills, scarlet, devilish symbols flickered, exuding malice. These sea pirates were using flesh and blood corpses as nutrients to power some sinister grand array.
At the grand array’s core, a figure with surging Qi Blood stood, eyes closed, guiding energy refined from the corpses continuously into the array. The array’s patterns were slowly brightening and extending.
“This person’s state… it seems they’re temporarily incapacitated.”
While Su Mu felt a slight heaviness in his heart, he quickly calculated, forming a rough guess in his mind regarding the events on the island.
With thoughts racing, he soon came to a massive Dragon-breaking Gate. Behind the gate was a spacious hidden chamber, where the disciple transporting a box entered.
Looking closely, there were no less than a hundred people, and some were transporting boxes with not only the Jiao Blood Gang’s emblem but also emblems and words from other pirate gangs like the Black Water Gang and the Mysterious Snake Gang.
Scanning the scene, the opened boxes were filled with high-quality herbs, elixirs, and spirit stones.
As Su Mu approached, several pairs of eyes simultaneously locked onto him, revealing powerful presences within the warehouse, their gazes suspicious and wary.
In the face of their caution, beneath Su Mu’s mask, a slight smile formed, akin to a tiger’s harvest joy in a pen of sheep, unblamable under the circumstances.
Su Mu had intended to leave, but an old sheep personally led him into the pen. Such a fortuitous opportunity couldn’t be ignored; heavenly materials and earthly treasures are for the virtuous.
Su Mu considered himself that virtuous person, deciding to collect a bit of interest for the earlier events.
“Such a grand scene, with as many as five Fourth-Grade Martial Artists… but that still won’t stop me. This warehouse belongs to me, Su Mu!”
