Chapter 872: Chapter 717: No More Chances?!!
Just as he was about to press the launch button.
"Pong——!"
A muffled sound, completely different from the previous bullet impacts, suddenly came from his abdomen.
The sound didn’t seem to come from outside, more like a micro-bomb was detonating inside him, the dull echo causing his internal organs to tremble.
The fortress shook violently for a moment. Instinctively, he lowered his head to look at his abdomen.
He saw that the thick exoskeleton armor now had a gaping hole, about the size of a bowl, as if it were cheese melted by high heat.
The edges of the metal appeared irregularly molten, with thin threads of red-hot iron water slowly dripping down, making a sizzling sound, mingling with the burnt smell of scorched flesh.
A black bullet, half of which had already penetrated out from his back, was stuck on the exoskeleton armor on his back, exposing its blood-stained tip.
The other half, still at a high temperature, was deeply embedded in his abdomen, firmly lodged among his intestines.
The pain of ruptured intestines was excruciating.
But the pain of the bullet being stuck inside his intestines was ten times worse.
"Ugh—!"
After a brief numbness, a tide of immense pain surged forth.
The face beneath the fortress mask twisted instantly, drenched in beads of cold sweat, muscles spasming uncontrollably.
He stared intently at the Ion Shield still raised before him. The black armor-piercing bullet tip remained lodged there, with the ghostly blue energy still contending against it.
"No... it wasn’t the bullet from before... it was another one..."
The fortress’s thoughts lagged due to the intense pain, but combat instincts made him analyze swiftly,
"The bullet that hit my shield before is now in my intestines... so the latter bullet hit the former bullet, then instantly stopped there, transferring all its kinetic energy to the bullet before.
Conservation of momentum?!!"
The high school physics knowledge he learned suddenly surged to his mind with unprecedented clarity.
What a painful realization!!!
Given a chance to be reborn, to return to high school and face that physics examination paper, he would certainly not hand in a blank sheet ever again.
The severe pain caused a momentary lapse in the fortress’s consciousness.
He forgot that since there were two black bullets hitting his shield one after another, there should also be two silver bullets curving towards Shadow Scorpion one after another.
Holding the shield, his intestines were ruptured into unknown pieces, but what about Shadow Scorpion?
At the critical moment, Shadow Scorpion twisted his body into an unusual curve with the astonishing flexibility and reaction speed granted by his scorpion mimicry, narrowly avoiding the first silver bullet.
The bullet grazed his side, immediately leaving a deep mark on the exoskeleton, with fragments of the armor shattering and falling off.
Before he could catch his breath, the second silver bullet, with a more treacherous trajectory, was already bearing down upon him.
"Damn it!"
Alarm bells exploded in Shadow Scorpion’s mind. It was now impossible to dodge, with no option but to hurl out his metal scorpion tail with all his might, flaring a trail of sharp afterimages, barring it like a flash of lightning.
"Tang—!"
The sharp tip of the scorpion tail clashed fiercely with the silver bullet, the immense impact violently jolting the tail away, the tail’s stinger cracking with fine patterns, while the bullet was sent flying off who knows where.
"It’s now!"
He’s eyes blazed with bloodlust, stomping forcefully, creating a small crater on the ground, dashing forward, his high-energy particle dagger in hand spinning rapidly, tearing through the air, thrusting straight at the Shadow Scorpion’s heart.
"Clang—Fizz!"
The blade of the dagger scraped fiercely against the hard exoskeleton, bursting out a long string of eye-searing sparks.
The exoskeleton’s defense exceeded all expectations, as the particle dagger failed to fully penetrate, only causing Shadow Scorpion to feel a chilling unease in his chest.
"Courting death!"
Shadow Scorpion, both shocked and furious, let out a cold laugh beneath his mask.
His arms, swift as pincers, darted left and right towards He’s wrists, while the scorpion tail carved a shrill arc, swinging back, its pointed end aiming straight at He’s temple.
If this strike hit, his head would surely explode like a watermelon.
"Dream on!!"
A nearby teammate witnessed the danger and, without hesitation, abandoned his dual guns—Shadow Scorpion cunningly used He’s head as a shield, blocking his vital points.
The teammate lunged from an oblique angle, using his chest to tightly embrace the swiftly retracting metal scorpion tail.
"Poof!"
The scorpion tail hit his chest squarely!
He let out a muffled grunt, spewing a large mist of blood mixed with pieces of his organs from his mouth, his chest visibly caving in.
Yet, his eyes were exceptionally bright, with both feet nailed firmly to the ground as if taking root, his core braced like reinforced steel, pulling Shadow Scorpion down to the ground with his full strength and weight.
Shadow Scorpion, caught off guard, was thrown off balance by this mutual destruction tactic, his grasp on He’s arms faltering.
It’s now!
He roared, channeling all his anger and strength into this strike.
"Die!!!"
The short blade abandoned its intention to thrust through the hard chest plate, instead scraping upward with fierce rotational force along the curved surface of the armor.
The blade scraping against the exoskeleton made a piercingly sharp sound, trailing upwards, drawing a dazzling spark trajectory.
Sparks flew upward until they fully covered the smooth White Mask.
"Click——!"
A crisp sound of fracture rang out.
The mask shattered with a sound!
The only imperfection was that He, in his extreme state of exertion, ultimately lacked perfect control.
