Chapter 876: You Guys Are Scaring My Friend!!!
“Shadow Scorpion, what are you spacing out for?”
“The mission target is right in front of you. You didn’t miss it, did you? No, you only got one eye cut blind; you should see clearly!”
“It’s a great chance. The enemy is surrounded by your illusion, kill him quickly, act now!”
The urgent voice drilled into Shadow Scorpion’s eardrums without any buffer—Iron Claw was speaking in the communication channel.
If anyone else in the team used this tone, Shadow Scorpion would undoubtedly think they were being sarcastic and mocking on purpose.
But when it’s Iron Claw, Shadow Scorpion can only assume that although the other is gloating, he is sincerely urging him to take action.
“Iron Claw, that fool!”
The rage that Shadow Scorpion had just extinguished in his heart was suddenly reignited like hot oil being poured on it, and it burned even stronger than before.
The muscles on his face twitched uncontrollably, pulling at the wound near his eye, bringing a pain so intense it was nearly maddening.
Sticky tissue fluid mixed with blood seeped slowly from the shattered eye socket, sliding down his symmetrically crossed cheek.
The vengeance for disfigurement and blindness must be paid!
This thought bit into his sanity like a poisonous snake.
Even though Feng Mu suddenly appeared before him, exuding an indescribable danger, even though his gut was screaming “stay away” from deep within.
Even though the captain had clearly issued the order to “assess danger and retreat if necessary,” he had to face it first before evaluating, not just coward out through a visual estimate.
Retreat must be strategic and dignified, a “strategic relocation,” not an embarrassing flee.
It’s like gaming; encountering a field elite or BOSS, you can’t run just by looking. At least throw a skill to test the waters.
If the BOSS really doesn’t lose even a sliver of health, it’s not too late to retreat then…
The report to officials would better read that he fiercely battled the enemy until a stalemate before having no choice but to retreat.
Shadow Scorpion’s mind flickered; these thoughts passed in mere moments.
He slightly lowered his head, his intact right eye, as savage as poison fire, locked onto Feng Mu’s calm and serene gaze.
His entire body was covered in a menacing exoskeleton, layer upon layer of mechanical structure, far bulkier than his opponent, yet somehow the opponent’s gaze gave him the illusion that he was the small one, being looked down on.
“Damn bastard… Do you think just because you caught my tail I’m really afraid of you?!”
This silent gaze was more offensive than a hundred noisy taunts from Iron Claw, causing less physical harm but immense insult.
When had Shadow Scorpion ever been looked at like this?
In the past, it was always him looking at his prey destined to die by his hand with such a gaze.
As for the scorpion tail being held motionless by his opponent?
No problem!
Shadow Scorpion never fought with just his tail alone; every inch of his exoskeleton could kill.
His eyes flashed with murderous intent, without warning, his entire body suddenly leaned forward.
The heavily armored shoulders and chest carried hundreds of kilograms of weight, like an out-of-control heavy dump truck, fiercely crashing towards Feng Mu’s seemingly frail chest.
At the same time, his two fists, also covered in exoskeleton and infused with mechanical power, like a scorpion’s giant pincers, tore through the air left and right, hammering towards Feng Mu’s head.
High-frequency energy subtly flowed at the edge of his fists, strong enough to turn the hardest alloy into powder.
Collide! Eardrums!
If these two attacks hit simultaneously, even if Feng Mu truly possessed some sort of miniature internal exoskeleton armor, he’d be smashed into a shattered pulp.
At least, supported by the destructive simulation data from the exoskeleton sensors, Shadow Scorpion firmly believed this.
Moreover, without a sound, the metallic foot beneath Shadow Scorpion nudged forward, the pointed shoe aimed directly at He’s head.
Despite his anger, Shadow Scorpion had not completely lost the cunning of a seasoned warrior.
He wanted to both force out Feng Mu’s true strength, assess his danger level closely, and simultaneously resolve the grudge of disfigurement, reclaim his “due interest.”
Clear obstacles for a potential retreat, salvage some face.
In a flash, the assault was upon them!
Facing the sudden, nearly flawless ferocious counterattack, Feng Mu’s expression remained unchanged.
No surprise, no solemnity, he just stood there quietly, as if the incoming attack capable of shredding tanks was merely a gentle breeze.
Until the iron fists were nearly brushing his temples, their winds blowing a few strands of his hair back, he barely lifted his eyelids.
His gaze swept over the furious Shadow Scorpion, indifferently surveying the scene, and finally, he softly spoke his first words since entering:
“Don’t be agitated.”
The voice was not loud, carrying a bit of a gentle guiding tone.
Yet bizarrely overpowering the roar of the exoskeleton engine and the whistling punch wind, it clearly, as if whispered, reached everyone’s ears nearby, including those using communication devices to listen to the battlefield.
“I harbor no ill intentions, nor did I mean to interrupt your… battle.”
As the words sounded, a strange force field, intangible yet undeniably real erupted suddenly with Feng Mu at the center.
