Eternal Emperor's Path to Ascension

Chapter 448: Cruel Reality of the Cleansing

  • Next Chapter

Tian Yun’s thoughts gradually returned to the battlefield.

He glanced at the Lightning Tribulation Divine Deity, then shifted his gaze towards the distant heavens.

The situation was becoming increasingly unfavorable.

No matter how extraordinary his former existence was, he could not afford to waste time contemplating matters that he could not yet resolve.

At present, the most important thing was to survive and to ensure that the Lower Realm did not fall before they found a way to resist the Cleansing.

Unfortunately, the situation was far worse than he had imagined.

The moment the Lightning Tribulation Divine Deity descended, the entire battlefield had been thrown into chaos.

The difference between the two sides was simply too enormous.

Even with the advantage of fighting on their home ground, the cultivators of the Lower Realm were being pushed towards the brink of destruction.

Heaven and earth had long since been stained with blood.

Countless powerhouses fell like raindrops in a thunderstorm, their bodies shattered and their Essence Souls extinguished before they could even comprehend the attacks that had claimed their lives.

The Upper Realm’s army advanced relentlessly.

Their cultivation foundations were superior, their Divine Powers more profound, and their understanding of cultivation far beyond that of their Lower Realm counterparts.

Even when they encountered resistance, they could often suppress their opponents through sheer differences in strength.

The situation was already deteriorating at an alarming pace.

...

Countless miles away, a tremendous sword cry reverberated through the heavens.

Wang Daoyun stood suspended in the void, his expression pale and his robes soaked in blood.

His Heaven and Earth Immortal Sword Intent still lingered around him, but its brilliance had dimmed considerably.

In front of him stood an Upper Realm Half Immortal.

The latter wore a blue battle robe, and his expression was filled with undisguised contempt as he gazed at Wang Daoyun.

"So this is the so-called supreme genius of the Lower Realm?"

He shook his head with disdain.

"Your Sword Intent is certainly impressive. Unfortunately, your foundation is far too shallow."

Wang Daoyun did not respond, his gaze fixed upon his opponent as his right hand slowly tightened around the empty space beside him.

His Divine Sword had been sent flying hundreds of thousands of miles away during their previous exchange.

He had attempted to summon it back, but the surrounding void was disrupted by the Half Immortal’s Divine Power, preventing him from establishing a stable connection.

Even worse, the Spiritual Energy lingering within his wounds was preventing his body from healing.

Normally, with his cultivation, such injuries would have been insignificant, able to be recovered instantaneously.

But now, the Spiritual Energy of his opponent was constantly eroding his physical body, preventing him from restoring even a fraction of his strength.

Blood dripped from the corners of his lips, each drop falling through the void, distorting the surrounding space before disappearing into the chaotic currents below.

Wang Daoyun’s expression was grim as he glared at the Half Immortal, but his heart was growing increasingly heavy.

As the successor of Kunlun and the original supreme genius of his generation, he had always believed that even if he encountered an opponent stronger than himself, he could still rely on his Sword Dao to fight back.

After all, a powerful cultivator’s strength was not determined solely by cultivation.

Just like that person from the Eternal Peak.

But there were limits to everything.

What meaning did his Heaven and Earth Immortal Sword Intent have when his opponent’s foundation was several times more profound than his own and the difference in strength was so enormous that his opponent could suppress him with a casual movement?

Wang Daoyun slowly raised his head, his gaze sharp.

Even now, he had no intention of surrendering.

However, the Upper Realm Half Immortal had already grown impatient.

"Enough."

He raised his hand, and an enormous palm formed from Spiritual Energy descended from above.

Wang Daoyun’s pupils constricted.

He immediately attempted to evade, but his injuries severely affected his movements.

The enormous palm struck him directly.

*BOOM!*

The void collapsed as Wang Daoyun’s figure was sent hurtling backwards, blood spraying from his mouth as his body smashed through several layers of shattered space.

His aura weakened considerably, yet even as he fell, his gaze remained fixed upon the enemy.

...

Elsewhere, a thunderous roar shook the heavens.

The Unrivaled Fist God was sent crashing through dozens of towering mountains.

His body smashed through their peaks one after another, creating enormous craters that stretched across the earth.

When he finally came to a stop, the ground beneath him had already collapsed into a bottomless abyss.

Blood flowed from his wounds, and his once imposing physique was covered in cracks, and even his bones had suffered severe damage.

Nevertheless, he still struggled to stand.

His fists trembled, and his breathing was ragged, but his eyes were filled with an unyielding fighting spirit.

Across from him stood an Upper Realm Half Immortal, whose expression contained a trace of surprise.

"You can still stand?"

He examined the Unrivaled Fist God’s battered body with interest.

"Your physical foundation is quite impressive. It seems that the Lower Realm still possesses a few interesting individuals."

He smiled faintly.

"Unfortunately, that is all." 𝖋𝙧ⅇ

The Unrivaled Fist God clenched his fists.

He already knew that he was not the opponent’s equal, but what could he do?

Behind him lay countless cities, countless mortals, and countless cultivators who had never even attained the Tribulation Transcendence Realm.

If he retreated, who would protect them?

Could he simply abandon them because his opponent was stronger?

The Unrivaled Fist God let out a low roar.

His muscles bulged, and the remaining Spiritual Energy within his body erupted, a terrifying Fist Intent surrounding him as he charged forward once more.

The Upper Realm Half Immortal shook his head and raised a palm.

A single palm strike descended, obliterating everything in its way.

The Unrivaled Fist God’s figure was smashed back into the abyss.

...

The situation was no better for Lu Qingfeng and Yan Jingfei.

The two disciples of Eternal Peak stood back to back, surrounded by hundreds of Upper Realm Immortal Ascension cultivators.

Lu Qingfeng’s Mystical Flame Bow trembled in his hands as three miniature suns circled around his head, releasing dazzling golden light.

The Radiant Dawn Sacred Fire burned fiercely, transforming the surrounding void into a sea of flames. Yet, even this terrifying power could not completely repel the enemies surrounding them.

Every time Lu Qingfeng released an arrow, several Upper Realm cultivators would coordinate their attacks, forcing him to divide his attention between offense and defense.

His robes were torn and blood flowed from his shoulders and abdomen.

The True Yang Body continued to burn with astonishing vitality, but even that extraordinary constitution had its limits.

Beside him, Yan Jingfei’s expression was equally grim.

Her Connate Providence was not too high level to begin with, and the current battle was already pushing her to her limits.

Worse still, the enemies had begun coordinating their assaults.

One group attacked Lu Qingfeng directly, while another targeted Yan Jingfei’s blind spots.

A third group waited for the slightest opening to unleash their Divine Powers.

They had no intention of giving the two any opportunity to recover.

"Senior sister!"

Lu Qingfeng suddenly shouted as Yan Jingfei immediately turned her head.

A terrifying Spiritual Energy fluctuation had emerged behind Lu Qingfeng, and several Upper Realm cultivators were preparing to unleash their attacks simultaneously.

Yan Jingfei’s Fortune Defining Great Art erupted.

She forcefully altered the direction of several incoming attacks, causing them to collide with one another.

A tremendous explosion shook the battlefield.

However, the remaining attacks still struck them, sending both figures flying.

Lu Qingfeng coughed up blood, while Yan Jingfei’s face turned deathly pale, clearly severely injured.

...

Similar scenes were unfolding throughout the Lower Realm.

Ying Qingshuang’s seven black swords had lost several of their protective formations.

Jian Qi’s Sword Intent was growing increasingly unstable.

Liu Ruoxue continued fighting with terrifying precision, but even she was being forced to retreat as stronger enemies joined the battle.

The younger generation of Eternal Peak, who were once capable of standing at the forefront of their era were now facing opponents whose cultivation and foundations far exceeded their expectations.

When the Cleansing began, they believed that although the Upper Realm possessed a great advantage, the Lower Realm would at least have an opportunity to resist, but reality was far crueler than their expectations.

The Cleansing was a meat grinder, and the Lower Realm was losing at an alarming rate.

Countless cultivators looked towards the heavens, where the Lightning Tribulation Divine Deity stood surrounded by violet blue lightning.

Many of them, after witnessing the deaths of their seniors and fellow disciples, could no longer suppress the despair rising within their hearts.

Even the supreme prodigies were being overwhelmed, and even the ancient powerhouses were falling one after another.

If this continued, how long would it take before the entire Lower Realm’s resistance was extinguished?

An hour, or half an hour?

Or perhaps even less?

Unless something changed, the Lower Realm would soon reach the point of no return.

...

At this moment, far above the battlefield, the Lightning Tribulation Divine Deity was watching with an indifferent expression.

To him, the outcome had long since been decided.

The only remaining question was how long these insignificant beings would continue struggling before finally accepting their fate.
