Chapter 302: Chapter 280: Methodical
"Senior, take a look. Is it alright to set up the Earth Fire Cannon like this?"
On the city wall, Xie Ning looked at Chu Mu with a hint of anticipation and asked tentatively.
Chu Mu withdrew his appraising gaze and looked at the Spiritual Energy Giant Cannon before him.
The defenses of this camp were clearly different from those of other camps.
The reason for this was that the camp was located in an area where the Earth Vein Fire Qi was particularly active.
Therefore, all the camp’s offensive and defensive systems were naturally designed to utilize the Earth Vein Fire Qi.
The Spiritual Energy Cannon before him was no exception.
Unlike other Spiritual Energy Cannons, which were powered by Spirit Stones, this one drew upon the power of the Earth Vein Fire Qi for its energy supply.
Thus, the key wasn’t the cannon itself, but its placement, the Array Prohibition Patterns used to channel the Earth Vein Fire Qi, and the various supporting artifacts.
This particular Earth Fire Cannon, however, used a system that combined both Array Prohibitions and Runes, a combination with obvious and significant advantages.
It could maximize the power of the Earth Fire while also ensuring its stability.
Since joining the Artifact Hall recently, he had taken advantage of its resources, and his understanding of the Rune Refining System had progressed by leaps and bounds.
Perhaps his skill in it still hadn’t reached the level of his own mastery in Array Prohibition Artifact Refining, but it was certainly not much weaker than that of the other Artifact Refiners in the Artifact Hall.
’And this structural system of Runes and Array Prohibitions before me...’
Chu Mu frowned. As far as he knew, these kinds of arrangements all came with specific blueprints and formulas.
’It was just a matter of following the design.’
’But this one was a botched copy...’
Chu Mu glanced at Xie Ning, who couldn’t hide his anticipation, and patiently began to offer guidance.
A moment later, under his guidance, the Spiritual Energy Cannon was perfectly installed on the city wall.
He didn’t linger, continuing to wander around the camp.
To be sure, nothing related to Artifact Refining in this camp was particularly technically sophisticated from his perspective.
But without a doubt, there were many things he had never encountered before.
They used wildly imaginative designs to get the maximum effect out of limited resources.
Undeniably, this practical creativity was far superior in many ways to the legacy of the Artifact Refining General Outline he had inherited, and much more impressive.
What was supposed to be a simple job to repay a favor had turned out to be quite enjoyable for Chu Mu.
After several busy days, the outpost, which had been in complete disarray, was restored to its former condition.
The streets, the buildings, the city walls...
Cultivators began to trickle in and settle down, and the modest camp started to fill with the normal hustle and bustle of life.
In an Artifact Refining Room in the camp’s central hall, Chu Mu sat cross-legged. As his Magical Power circulated, True Flame coiled around him. Faintly, one could sense that the aura of his Magical Power had advanced slightly.
After about an hour, the surging fluctuations of Magical Power gradually subsided. The coiling True Flame dissipated, and with a slow exhale of impure air, Chu Mu opened his eyes.
The Light Curtain Panel materialized in his vision.
Just as with his previous Qi Cultivation, his poor aptitude doomed him to a glacial Cultivation Progress. It was so predictable he could practically see his entire future laid out before him.
For the geniuses of the great Sects and Clans, Elixirs were something to be taken with restraint.
For him, however, Elixirs were an absolute necessity.
His snail-paced Cultivation Progress had once again entered the fast lane after he finished gathering the Spirit Medicines required for the Gong Palace Pill.
However, perhaps because he had already stepped into the Foundation Establishment Realm and now possessed a three-hundred-year lifespan, Chu Mu’s mindset had shifted slightly.
He no longer blindly pursued speed in his Cultivation. Instead, he was more concerned with solidifying his current foundation and purging the Erysipelas that built up from using Elixirs.
The deeper reason, perhaps, was that... upon entering the Foundation Establishment Realm, he had begun to harbor an unspoken dream of reaching the even higher realms beyond.
’If my foundation is stable and free of Erysipelas... perhaps I might have a chance to reach the lofty Golden Core True Master Realm?’
Chu Mu didn’t know if it was possible, nor did he have much confidence, but the dream had already taken deep root in his heart.
On the Light Curtain Panel, the Skill Level for his Great Sun Scripture had already advanced a fair bit thanks to the effects of the Gong Palace Pill.
To be precise, he had already progressed nearly one-fifth of the way through the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment.
This might not seem like much, but in truth... for many Cultivators, such progress was as difficult as ascending to the heavens!
At the main frontline camp, he had come into contact with dozens of Foundation Establishment Realm Cultivators, at the very least. Even among the disciples of the Righteous Alliance and the pillars of the Xie Family...
...the vast majority were stagnating day after day. They didn’t even have the luxury of worrying about taking too many Elixirs and the problem of residual Erysipelas.
Take the exchange meetings at Water Heaven Workshop, for instance. The fundamental reason they were held so regularly and consistently, always drawing a crowd of Foundation Establishment Cultivators, was Ji Ming’s Elixirs.
At every meeting, Ji Ming was able to use just a few bottles of his Elixirs to acquire a massive haul of rare Spirit Materials and Spirit Medicine, making a fortune each time.
As his thoughts drifted, Chu Mu waved his sleeve, and several Jade Bottles materialized before him.
Six portions of Spirit Medicine for six batches of Gong Palace Pills had yielded fifty-two pills in total.
Of those, thirteen were Pill Pattern Elixirs.
This included eleven One-Patterned Gong Palace Pills.
And two Two-Patterned Gong Palace Pills!
He picked up one of the Jade Bottles. With a flicker of his will, the stopper popped open, revealing two Elixirs resting clearly inside.
The Elixirs had a soft, jade-like luster, and two Pill Patterns that looked perfectly natural swirled around their surfaces.
