Chapter 350: Chapter 321: True Form of the Bull Demon (Part 2)
Why delay until now?
Besides, from a profit standpoint...
Compared to the decades of effort the Jieyin Demon Sect had invested in the Chu Capital, demonizing a Spirit Vein offered little in return. It was a purely unprofitable venture.
Then, Chu Mu looked at Xu Changqing and asked, "Do you have any leads?"
"I’m not sure yet."
Xu Changqing shook his head, clearly unwilling to say more.
Chu Mu hesitated, but in the end, he didn’t press the matter. He simply watched Xu Changqing leave.
He was just a Loose Cultivator. He was only staying in the Chu Capital because he’d been hired for a profitable job.
Even if the sky were to fall, it wouldn’t be his problem to worry about.
As for the traitors within the Longevity Sect, they had absolutely nothing to do with him.
In the midst of his thoughts, an indescribable sense of Palpitations suddenly washed over him, completely out of the blue.
Chu Mu’s expression changed drastically. In the next instant, a powerful gust of wind swept toward him from behind.
"BOOM!"
A deafening roar echoed as splinters of wood flew everywhere. The pavilion collapsed completely under the force of the blast.
Amidst the billowing dust and debris, Chu Mu retreated several dozen meters, his heart filled with disbelief.
’How is this possible? How dare they?’
But when he saw the Cultivators on the street not far away acting as if nothing had happened, he had a sudden realization.
"Don’t bother looking. No one outside will notice the commotion in here until after you’re dead."
A man in a black robe emerged from the dust, his voice cold and sharp.
Chu Mu narrowed his eyes. He glanced at the normal, orderly scene outside, and his heart sank to the depths.
’This is South City! North City is the one occupied by Demon Cultivators!’
’South City is supposed to be strictly controlled!’
And yet, he’d been ambushed. Here, in the middle of the city, in a bustling area, they were brazenly trying to assassinate him, even sealing him inside this space.
If he weren’t experiencing it himself, he would have thought it was a ridiculous fairy tale!
Chu Mu glanced at the wreckage on the ground, the fleeting image of the figure from moments ago appearing in his mind.
’This is... an attempt to silence me by killing me!’
"Die!"
The black-robed man shouted, and a curved saber brimming with Mysterious Demonic Qi, like a demonic moon, slashed through the air toward him in the blink of an eye.
’Late Stage of Foundation Establishment... and the Demon Puppet Branding System?’
The thought flashed through his mind, but Chu Mu had no time to dwell on it. He raised a hand, and a Cyan Shield materialized. The instant it blocked the saber’s edge, several streams of Flame Saber Qi appeared before him.
"Go!"
Chu Mu barked the command. With the Minghong Saber in hand, he didn’t advance but retreated instead. With a single slash, he brought the blade down on the Array that had trapped him.
A flash of saber light erupted with a deafening boom.
But the powerful strike only created a few ripples. In the blink of an eye, the ripples vanished, and the Array Prohibition remained intact.
The outcome of his attack was not unexpected, but Chu Mu’s expression still turned grim.
’This Array trapping me... it’s connected to the City Defense Array!’
’The City Defense Array is a Tier Three Upper Grade Defense Array!’
’With my abilities, it’s impossible for me to break it!’
"Don’t waste your energy. Once I slaughter you, you’ll be able to get out."
The black-robed man’s sinister voice rang out again as the demonic-moon-like curved saber struck once more.
With the strike, the clash of metal on metal rang out. A faint black gash appeared on the hovering Shield.
Through his Divine Sense Perception, he could feel Demonic Qi etching itself onto the Shield Spiritual Artifact along with the gash. The qi’s evil and chaotic nature then began to invade his Magical Power and Divine Sense as he controlled the Shield.
"Hmph!"
Chu Mu snorted coldly. True Flame circulated within him, instantly annihilating the invading wisps of Demonic Qi.
He recalled the Shield and pointed his saber diagonally. With a single slash, he directly parried the incoming curved blade.
The moment the Demonic Qi tried to corrode his weapon, his Sword Intent surged. A sharpness originating from his Divine Sense and Magical Power erupted!
The man’s expression flickered. Sensing danger, he abruptly pulled back his saber and retreated.
Chu Mu pressed forward, his surging Sword Intent bursting forth. The man let out a muffled grunt as blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, his face instantly darkening.
"Sword Intent! You’ve hidden it well!"
The man wiped the blood from his mouth and sneered, "This is quite an unexpected surprise."
"Someone who cultivates Essence, Qi, and Spirit makes for an excellent vessel for a Demon Puppet."
"We’ll see if you have what it takes."
Chu Mu replied coldly. With a flick of his fingers, several streams of Flame Saber Qi swirled around him. His Magic Robe billowed without any wind. In the blink of an eye, the Saber Qi and blade edge transformed into a sky-filling rain of fire that engulfed the man.
The roaring continued as dust billowed. The collapsed remains of the pavilion were completely obliterated.
Within the sea of fire, Demon Flame coiled around the man, forming barriers to protect him. At the same time, Demon Patterns appeared all over his body. Each Demon Pattern was like a living black snake, writhing and twisting.
"Rise!"
The man roared as his clothes exploded. His body twisted like a pretzel, almost as if it were growing. Accompanied by the piercing sound of grinding bones, the coiling Demon Flame around him grew even more intense.
In the end, after just a few breaths, what stood before Chu Mu was a three-meter-tall... person? Demon? It had two horns, a green face, and sharp fangs.
"This power... it’s truly intoxicating!"
The man seemed to have retained his consciousness. With a crazed look on his face, he muttered to himself. His gaze toward Chu Mu was now filled with disdain, as if he were looking at... an ant.
"To die under my True Form of the Bull Demon is a fitting end for you!"
"You talk too much!"
Chu Mu cursed as his Magical Power and Divine Sense surged, madly pouring into the Minghong Saber. He brought the saber down, and the dual sharpness of his Sword Intent, carrying terrifying fluctuations of Spiritual Qi, completely overwhelmed the man.
The Sword Intent swept out, its sharpness radiating in all directions. The pavilion, already a ruin, was shattered further by the overflowing Sword Intent, sending dust billowing everywhere.
Chu Mu didn’t let his guard down. With a wave of his hand, he unleashed streams of Flame Saber Qi like a Continuous Pearl Divine Fire Tube, indiscriminately pouring them into the billowing dust below.
He was certain that even after transforming into that monstrous form, the man couldn’t possibly have emerged from that attack unscathed. The only question was the severity of his injuries.
’If he’s still unharmed after a full-power attack like that...’
’Then I’ll have to use my trump card!’
"Sword Intent... it truly lives up to its reputation."
From within the billowing dust, the man’s grim voice transformed from weak to full of vigor in the span of a single sentence.
Then, the figure of the Ox Demon emerged from the dust. Covered in bloody gashes, its cold and tyrannical gaze was fixed on Chu Mu.
Chu Mu didn’t look at the man’s cold and tyrannical expression. Instead, his gaze lingered for a moment on the Demon Flame coiling around the man’s body.
As his eyes shifted, he noticed that the cold, bright edge of his Minghong Saber now had several black marks, as if scorched by flames.
And through his Divine Sense Perception, he could feel that the Minghong Saber, which he could normally wield as an extension of his own arm, now felt somewhat sluggish and unresponsive.
’This Demon Flame also has a corrosive effect, and it’s far more terrifying than before!’
"Hahahaha..."
Seeing Chu Mu’s shifting gaze, the man seemed to guess his thoughts and laughed wildly. "If this is all you’ve got, then I’ll be taking your life."
"Such arrogance!"
Chu Mu sneered. A trace of True Flame flowed out, and under its power, the impurities lingering on the saber’s edge vanished in an instant, as if they had met their nemesis.
His sluggish control over the weapon returned to being effortless, an extension of his will.
In the next instant, True Flame coiled around the saber’s edge, and his Sword Intent surged.
Sword Intent and True Flame rapidly fused into one under the infusion of Chu Mu’s surging Magical Power and the control of his Divine Sense.
Chu Mu slowly raised his saber. In the sky above, a phantom flame saber dozens of meters long appeared.
"Slash!"
Chu Mu roared, and as he brought his saber down, the phantom flame saber in the sky descended with it.
The man showed no fear. With a roar, he leaped into the air. His already massive body seemed to grow even larger as the Demon Flame around him coalesced into a giant fist of fire, punching straight toward the sky.
A fist and a saber!
BOOM!
A world-shaking explosion erupted. Spiritual Qi surged, and the dust that had yet to settle was thrown up once more, completely filling the isolated space.
Under the force of this cataclysmic collision, both figures were sent flying backward...
